I was able to help her with moving costs and I also teach her about finance and savings. Bottom line it doesn't take having your own children to value family. She had 4 other children at home all under the age of 9. The physician felt so sorry for her, he kept her in the hospital for 10 days just so she could rest before facing her continuing grief and the work ahead. So what will you be doing twenty-five years from now? Are you independently wealthy so you'll be able to hire a companion? Or will you be in an old folks home with nobody to visit you? And when you die, will you be survived by a brother or sister whom you won't have seen in a decade? You can live the way you want-I just wonder why it is that people like you don't ever talk about your twilight years and what every social study I've ever read says is the curse of old age, loneliness. I once worked as security in an old folks home-my job was to sit in the hallway to make sure no resident eloped. One afternoon the private rooms in my wing were cleared so they could be cleaned, and there before me were seven people sitting in their wheelchairs inactive-they didn't even look around, much less talk to one another. I have no idea whether they had children, but that moment just struck me with horror, since they did not seem alive. Of course, many old people are lucky enough for younger people to call them spry. Maybe you'll be one of them. Maybe you'll be like Mamie Van Doren, who at ninety-three likes to post photographs of herself on Twitter in which she wears blouses through which her _massive_ nipples poke; it makes me think she still fucks. Maybe at that age you'll still be fucking, too. Still, I don't know why childless people feel the need to justify their choice-people who do have children aren't wrong in thinking that, as animals who reproduce sexually, they have done the thing that is really the only reason for their existence, and that having children, at least when you raise them right, is a blessing. Methinks, protest, etc.

@@strategicsage7694 look at the average income in the 50-60's and the average home prices. You could buy a home on a single income, it was your asset and part of your estate. If the other parent chose you could stay at home and raise the kids. That was about the last time America was great, we had an uber strong middle class, we manufactured everything here, and we were the greatest country in the world. In today's world you need two incomes just to buy a home, then you need to afford child care (someone else is raising your kids) since both parents work, and it costs a fortune just to raise kids. Well said. I've chosen I don't want kids, but I'm also a stepdad, and have had to do caretaking for my wife and ex wife, so I know the burden of parenting. A lot of folks treat their kids as an accessory, to make them look good. Forgetting that this is a little person with their own wants, needs, opinions, dislikes, etc., Deciding to, or to not have children should be a CHOICE, and if you choose no, nothing wrong with that. Making a baby is the real fun part(if consensual), but it is a lot of work, its time, money, energy, commitment, and it will test you in so many mental and emotional ways. i've NEVER wanted children, butmy best friend who has 2 kids with 2 different women for YEARS would tell me how great it was and how i'd love it so much once i had one too and that we were crazy for "waiting" to do it (even though me and my wife were never "waiting", but that's how people interpreted our answers of "no" lol) because the younger you are when you start parenting, the better it is (LOL @ that) ......... well he's now 40, constantly broke and borderline depressed and stressed to the max on a near daily basis, his oldest daughter with his first ex-wife (whom he hasn't lived with for 10 years) is now a depressed maladjusted teenager with no social life and a minimal education while he's struggling to pay the bills and expenses for his younger daughter while me and my childless wife with our cats go on camping trips every week during the summer and enjoy our lives as much as possible every day......... and he's very recently admitted that if he had the chance to do it all over again, he'd 100% never go down that path and never have children society indoctrinates people from a young age that the only life path is to go to college, get married, buy a house, have kids, go into massive debt for the rest of your life etc etc etc and it's complete BS which is exactly how i've felt for my entire life as long as i can remember...... almost 40 now and have *NEVER* felt a shred of doubt or regret about it also my cats are awesome lol

I think it should be considered disrespectful to tell other people that they need to or should have kids. you don’t know what goes on other peoples personal life and honestly, you shouldn’t be that easy to just have a kid

It's funny, yet nauseating, how many people here are almost fetishizing breeding and parenthood, while these parents are basically showing us how their own kids clearly won't be supported on their path of personal choices either. The parent that calls childless women names, is everything but a loving, trustworthy parent.

The childless statistic being celebrated isn’t largely by choice, it’s because people under 50 can’t afford to buy a home and have any sort of security to start a family. Young people also aren’t social enough to find a partner. They’re young, broke and sexless and they’ve lost faith in the system…

Parents convince themselves that childless people are miserable because it’s the only way they can cope with their permanent lifelong mistake.

This is always my theory. Why get so angry with me for not having kids if they're not jealous of my life?
@jeffreym.8957Ай бұрын
Interesting. I don't see this at all. It sounds a little like maybe you're projecting a bit? I've seen some envy here-and-there from parents - for sure. I have also seen parents criticize the childless for being more selfish and/or fastidious. And well... if the shoe fits? It's not a criticism. It's just a function of the circumstances. When you're only responsible for yourself, you spend more time worrying about ... yourself.

@@klatskyn Who are these angry people you speak about? They aren't here commenting? Family? Work colleagues?

I saw both my boys enter the inside of the hospital room. And I cried both times of joy. Most parents never regret, even how much it messed up their pre-parenthood perks, because it was always worth it

I've become a self-appointed student of history (opposite of how I used to be regarding world history), and soooooo many problems would be solved if people would just mind their own business my favorite line in the whole monologue "You may kiss my ass"
