Any president who is under investigation shouldn't have the right to pardon himself or anyone else involved. That would make them all above the law and free to commit any crimes. America is not a dictatorship. Any pardons involving people connected to the president, like Arpaio, should have to be approved by a court or our legal system means nothing.

From this point forward, these conditions must be mandatory for anyone seeking office: Full financial disclosure (of course, including tax returns), complete physical and mental examination by third party, academic testing of American history and foreign relations (at least High School level - for this president, well he wouldn't pass 3rd grade history), intentions, yes, intentions in writing - why you are seeking office, what are your motivations and how do you measure your accountability. The fact that this is even necessary is well, SAD!

No,a president cannot pardon himself, same reason why a judge can't pass a sentence on himself/herself. The conflict of interests must not exist because if it does the ruling or sentencing is fundamentally flawed. It's why a PM cannot interpellate himself.

I'm an old school Magic: The Gathering player, so the question of if a President can pardon himself comes down to a key mechanic in the game: timing. You can't be indicted while President. You can, however, be kicked out of office and THEN indicted and by the time that happens, you are no longer President and can no longer pardon yourself.
