He had to back up what is shown in these videos, although the ZDF studio held on to the terminology of this part of Ukraine being 'occupied', with lack of free speech and movement. The journalist did make clear that he had been able to move freely Moskow to Mariupol and was just as free to make his item and speak with whom he wanted, without being guarded by Russian minders. The west rather enforces an image of the Russian Federation as some sort of North Korea, and worse, they even try to instil the idea that Putin will attack western Europe next and a WW3 will break out. I'm genuinely curious, is taking just a few cities really worth 300k Russian and Ukrainian lives? Have many lives had to be destroyed to "secure" the persecuted in Ukraine? In the long term, goal, will this really help Russia from an attack from NATO? Do they think NATO really wants to invade Russia? I mean sure we had a pact with the Soviet Union to not expand the borders of NATO, but the Soviet Union dissolved, thus making it moot. As an American I would love to see friendly relations between US and Rus, but I don't think Putin is the guy to bring prosperity to Russia...

I remember very well what Mariupol was like after the Ukrainian Military had finished what they did to the city. It's a stark contrast to what it's like now. Thankfully Russia is taking care of it just like it will for all of the former Russian territories that were called Novarossiya for centuries. Рассчитаны эти дома были на срок до 30-40 лет. Они свой срок уже "прожили". Теперь их сносят по мере возможности и строят новые дома куда переселяют людей, дома которых снесли в связи с истечением срока эксплуатации. Во времена Сталина предпочитали строить дома в классическом стиле, которые могут эксплуатироваться не одно столетие. Но строились они дольше. Сегодня вы видите сами какие дома строят.

They are also painted down and artworks are placed on their windowless side. Nice touch. It doesn't feel that grey sad socialist reality like here. They are vibrant and almost feel like they are just fake movies prob. But no! These are real. And it warms my little heart. I've never seen commie blocks so stylish modern and pleasant. "Commie blocks"? Did you ever see Stalin's era houses? They are not brutalist at all, they are beautiful and have classic aesthetic details. And they ARE made of brick. Just google Stalinist architecture. As an example, google images of Zemlyanoy Val 46-48 - it's the address of one of the buildings of that era.

And what about Russian cities, struggling with broken infrastructure that hasn't been reconstructed in decades. Broken heating, gas. Feces flow into the streets. (backed by other Russia's regions) We should not forget why Mariupol is being renovated so much. This is because some foreign forces (the Russian army) devastated the city into ruins.

I was the last time 2020 in Mariupol. What a big change to the better The town look much better now. Of course Russia do the best to eliminate the distraction of the war. But the most bigger towns in Russia look step by step like this. But our news in Germany don't show this progress, only the distractions and wrong images. I lived many years in Omsk/ Siberia with 2, 5 million inhabitants. A modern Town with all you can imagine. Supermarkets with 35 counters, circus , theater and opera, beautyful parks, all kind of restaurants and cafes. We should forget the pictures our western media present us from Russia. Go and see it by your self. Russia is a great country with wonderful people. Not to compare with the Ucrain!

One of my staffs comes from Mariupol, his parents went to study during Soviet times, their family left Mariupol in 2005 after NATO opened door for Ukraine to joint NATO in a conference in Sofia…. He mentioned that his family are still missing their beautiful seashore hometown a lot.
