The Smith and Wesson 380 Shield EZ was very warmly received, as a concealed carry pistol perfect for those who had problems operating the slide or didn't care for the snap of micro-compact 9mm pistols. However, some people wished that it might be scaled up for the more powerful 9mm cartridge.
They got their wish...and the results are spectacular. The S&W M&P9 Shield EZ is very easy to operate, and incredibly easy to shoot. Unbelievably easy to shoot. In fact, there are 9mm compact pistols that snap more than the Shield EZ.
We also loved the EZ magazines, which have their own speedloader built in for easy loading.
We found this pistol to be incredibly reliable, as it fed multiple brands, boxes and types of ammunition without a hiccup. FMJ, JHP, flex-tip rounds...everything we fed it shot and ejected smoothly without any malfunctions, hangups or anything.
As to accuracy, it's stunningly accurate for an out of the box pistol of this size, and easy to get it to boot. With most subcompact pistols, getting accurate groups takes work, but we were kissing the bullseye almost right away. While it's bigger than the standard Shield...frankly we can't think of an easier gun to get along with.
The S&W M&P9 Shield EZ is a fantastic concealed carry pistol, full stop. We think it's one of the best Smith and Wesson makes.
