BMX has been around for a long time and in today's video we are challenging young new school BMX riders to try and ride a BMX bike that is older then they are! The bike is heavy and awkward and I am challenging them to try a couple tricks on it to see if it is possible!

I still can’t believe these guys own a bike shop, Matty a top tier bicycle mechanic, and they never have tubes or tires, nor tools to do a quick swap to keep the fun going. That said, love to see the mid school bikes.

That Mirra seat was something to die for when I was about 10. Took me forever to get one of those in the early 00's lol. Back when I use to cut my bars super short on my Standard 250, thing was a tank. Ahhh the good ole days.

I like that bike! I rode an early 80's Mongoose in the early 80's. I ended up putting Skyways with a coaster brake on that bike. It's the bike I started freestyling on. Back then it was frame stands and riding down the hill backwards turning a 540 on the bottom of the hill and rock walks.

Loved this one! I'm 44, I was into freestyle/BMX in the early 90's and still watch some of the new school guys. It's cool to see how street and park competition has evolved... Those Haro knee saver handlebars were a must have back in the day! Been watching you guys and Anthony Panza a bit, fun to watch! I'd be interested to try out some of the new-school bikes, no brakes and all that... Maybe in one of those parks with the foam bricks and stuff to try it out and get used to! Those handlebars and the gyro for the brake lines bring back lotsa memories 😆

I remember when I first started riding my bike was super heavy. None of my friends knew how I did anything on it because it was so heavy. I was hopping over those smaller outdoor trash cans can those white plastic lawn chairs while they were standing up. Back then Sean burns was my favorite rider so basically all I did was go fast and hit huge gaps and do giant drops. I took it to my local bike shop and when the owner picked it up he couldn't believe how heavy it was. He threw it on the scale and it weighed 46lbs. That was back when 3 piece cranks were super thick with big dinner plate sprockets. I had a 36 tooth sprocket. This was before pivitol seats too.

@@Schralpz I had a nyquist back trail 2 I think if I remember correctly. My first 2 bikes were basically just parts from friends that they didn't need anymore lol. Once I went to a lighter bike I basically had to relearn how to ride because I wasn't used to such a light bike. I went from a heavy monstrosity to an s&m laf frame with as light of parts as I could afford and my bike only weighed 25lbs.

Old school 😂. Man I came from the world of BMX...Mongoose, Diamondback, Redline... Then into early MTB Diamondbacks and Marzocchi forks. History before that we bombed fireroads and footpaths on Reynolds chromoly touring bikes with brazed gussets. We had know idea wth we were doing at the time, but we had a blast. We had no idea of the ground we broke.

I was 15 when this bike was brand new, I always wanted a Mongoose, I actually learned how to ride a bicycle on a Mongoose Californian 85. My mom could only afford to get me locally made bikes, the Mongooses and more respectable brands were incredibly lighter in comparison. Fast forward a quarter of a century and the other day I spotted a mid school rider my age on an old Haro complete with DNA cranks, odyssey giro, Mirra Seat and I think even an Odyssey Pitbull brake, that thing weighs twice what my current bike does and the geometry feels completely weird now, it's crazy how much bikes have changed in such a short span of time.
