My Grandfather was a Plater, I used to go in his shop back in the 80/90's. Your equipment must be ancient.

Everything I've ever bought in chrome has had a 10-15% upcharge... back in the 70-90's it was cheap because they didn't care about the environmental impact.

Yes. Solvents will not harm the chrome. Most paint strippers are okay as well.

They said in a previous video, copper layer is only needed if there are surface imperfections as it's a high build / thick layer that can fill minor pits etc and be polished up. I was surprised too.
