I still have, and ride almost daily, my Scott Ransom 30 from 2009. Its an older bike for sure, but does everything i want it to do from trail riding to Blue and Red Downhill tracks. I have been looking for a new bike.... Maybe the new Scott Ransom is my next new bike!!

Just got a 960 Genius 2019. Wow wow wow. Fast bike! 29'ers are amazing now. They used to be wagon wheels but now the geo is sorted I don't think I would go back to 27. I have tested also the Yeti SB150 and it compares really well even not considering the price point (yes the Yeti has a better rear for small bumps). This bike would be even more of a weapon on the downhills... !

@colvinharvey99336 жыл бұрын
@@olivereng3532 Yeah, especially ones with a piggy back, the air has less space to move into and it's getting compressed in the shock therefore it gets heated up

thats an xc shock on an enduro bike where is the piggyback. Rather have a beefier shock than twinlock. Nothing against scott but they always add tech nobody asked for. I wonder how the shock will hold up in the long run

Also wondering, if you would actually want to ride it hard and fast downhill, how could you add a bash guard since it has no iscg mount ?

@boomerangfreak6 жыл бұрын
Well I can't say anything about the ransom here but when it comes to twinlock I've been liking it quite a lot on my genius. I've demoed other bikes that have the little levers on the fork/shock but barely ended up using them and not forgetting about them. For what/how I ride I love being able to switch my suspension up with a push of a button on my bars.

Attababy Neil! As always, a great bike check description and riding video. You were tinkering with 29" wheels on your Genius and that is what I am now running. It would be awesome to know your preference on the Ransom - 27.5 or 29? Hope all is well with you and yours. Keep up the great videos.
@gmbn6 жыл бұрын
We know that Neil will be running the 29's during the races, so he probably prefers them, as on his Genius. Though we're not sure if he's tried the 27.5" wheels on the Ransom.

You guys regularly seem to agree that 140mm is perfect for trail/bike parks, Neil and Blake both ride the Scott Genius, when would you/they swap the 150mm Genius for the new 170mm Ransom which is similar progressive geometry, actually a steeper seat angle and only slightly heavier? I've only ever had/have XC race bikes; 100mm HT, 90/100mm FS so really struggling to choose a bouncer!

@algfkhjslgakfhdsasfgasd36866 жыл бұрын
How do you adjust the rear shock stiffness, like having it fully open, lightly rigid or fully locked out because its upside down? . I wouldn't want to be having to get off the bike just to change the rear shock setting. Is there something on the bars for it to be locked out or do you have to fiddle around with it to change it.

@gmbn6 жыл бұрын
Well, 160mm full sus for cross country seems like way too much. But if you're more comfortable on it than the hardtail, ride it. Comfort is a lot bigger factor than people think.
