I was in that club (RDAC at Coalport) for a while. I religiously followed the rules about not arriving too early but was always behind many other anglers who didn’t want to comply. The reason for the rule was that the locals who live along the access track are not wanting to be disturbed by cars at stupid hours of the day. Keeping the locals happy is an important factor in maintaining their permission to control the fishing. I was beaten to the water a couple of times by a certain Mr Des Taylor, and he was taking paying customers on his guided visits. I didn’t meet a single angler in the club who was in favour of the way Mr Taylor took advantage of his position and his presence caused much resentment amongst the rank and file members. One rule for him and one rule for everyone else. A very frustrating situation in what is otherwise a great club with a beautiful stretch of the Severn. Shame. You will NEVER get on the pegs you want unless you bend the rules.

Yes, I’m never the first to the pegs, but am always there in time 🤷🏼‍♂️ I love that stretch but the rule that bugs me is off the road before dark, which is fine June, July, Aug, even early Sept, but I’ve driven all that way in December and have to be off by 4pm. Personally I think they should set a time to be off as they have for arriving rather than the current rule, that said, I e be heading home as darkness is falling and they’re still other cars parked so maybe, they’re bending that rule as well 🙄
