With the new update, dams are basically floodgates at 0.5 height that can't be raised or lowered. Replacing those dams on the main river with floodgates would let you set the water level at, like, 0.9. Then they would keep more water in the mangrove farming area during droughts, without needing water dumps or anything.

you can't path over floodgates, and as I'm 7 episodes further on the other things I've built mean the river never runs dry.

Love the content, I think you play with a bit more focus then JC and have a different style so its fine you´re on the same map.

Thanks, and I agree we have a different style. I'm just conscious that this series is getting a lot of new viewers, and many of those might have come via youtube recommendations from JC's content and I don't want people jumping to assumptions that I'm trying to mirror his work.

Loving the new series! I didn't even know a new update was coming so I'm excited to see you go through all the new stuff. The water looks amazing now and im loving the little hammers the beavers use!

Thanks. I think this update is an even big improvement to the game than update 5 was. The opportunities the new water physics brings to the game is going to allow for some interesting projects :D and yeah the new animations are kinda cool too

You might want to keep the floodgates at slightly less than one height to store at least some water in the upper reservoir.

Possibly. I have a plan for water storage downstream that I'm hoping to start next episode. And that will involve replacing those with the sluce gates

Might be good to move the dams after the mangroves out a little bit, too. Safeguard them from the bad tide waterfall a little bit.
