📚 I particularly enjoy a bookshelf tour when it’s not library-sorted (like mine, more or less) and you detail the thinking behind it! The thought process and planning is a fascinating component, whether it’s a tour, a TBR, a haul, etc. But the icing was calling out the “well, actually” folks 😆 I proper burst out laughing at that challenge as it was laid down. Let’s us know if you get any traction from that 🤗 🎲 I too have a D20 like yours on my desk in my office 🤓 “Yeah, I was thinking that,” I said out loud, *just* as you said, “I’m not so sure about Empire of the Vampire.” 😃
@MattonBooks9 ай бұрын
Hah! 😆 Yeah, the TBR shelves basically *aren’t* sorted at all, but I did put a few “sooner rather than later” books towards the top left. Obviously I didn’t fully sort the “later rather than sooner” books out to the bottom right. 😜

Reorganizing a bookshelf is a pleasure that I dont know if no bookish people understand 😂 . I have also 2 shelfs dedicated to my buddhist book!!. Enjoy your new bookshelfs and new view when you work!

Yeah Alma, right after saying, “you have no idea how good it feels,” it occurred to me how stupid that was. 😆

Great to see The Spear Cuts Through Water faced out. The cover art is gorgeous. I read it myself and enjoyed it immensely. I'm surprised I don't see it talked about more. And I'm always happy to see Senlin Ascends (The Books of Babel) on someone's shelves 😊You've got a fantastic collection!

Yeah Marianne, The Spear deserves every bit of exposure it can get. SUCH a good book. Check my upcoming 2023 Book Awards video for more Spear. 😉

Don't know why I like book shelf tours. For some reason, I just do. Maybe the local libraries should put on book shelf tours to get more people to read. Cool collections! I always put my D20s with the 20 up, so they recharge for critical rolls, ha!
@MattonBooks10 ай бұрын
Hah! I have zero dice superstitions, but I did once play with a woman that kept her dice in a special box lined with crystals, “to charge them.” Can’t say she rolled any better than the rest of us though. 😆

I love your shelves, especially that tall one. Funny, I read about 60% fantasy, but I have almost none on my shelves. I read fantasy via ebook. I am reading more and more that way the older I get.
@MattonBooks9 ай бұрын
Thanks Laura. 🙂 That talk shelf is just about my favourite part of my flat. ♥️ And yeah, I’m lucky my eyes are still good, but a close friend my age couldn’t read any more *at all* if it wasn’t for his Kindle.

Great bookshelf tour! Your collection is great, thank you for the tour. I would be interested in learning more about your RPG books.
@MattonBooks9 ай бұрын
Thanks Mike. 🙂 There are quite a few RPG books on that shelf, not sure where to start, but I can say that my favourite all-time is Pendragon (playing knights in King Arthur’s court), the prettiest is probably Vaesen (sort of 19th century ghostbusters) due to Johan Egerkrans’ illustrations, and the most experimental rules system I’ve got is Ten Candles. It’s well worth looking beyond just D&D. 😀 Ping me on the Discord to have a real chat about it all of you like - always happy to chat RPGs.

Todd here. Hey Matt! The new bookshelves look wonderful! Most of the time you can find a really nice hardwood bookshelf on the side of the road. My bookshelf holds somewhere around 100 books it's 80 percent full. You have quite the collection.
@MattonBooks9 ай бұрын
Thanks Todd. I must admit, I’ve *never* seen a nice bookshelf on the side of the road. 😆

This was impressive. I wonder how Daniel Green would rate your shelf.....or roast it. Honestly, I see no POPs so automatically your in C+ territory. Very good Knackidge and use of color. I'm thinking you might be in the A- range bud 🤔. That's a gorgeous shelf brother. The Spear and Elric are a must.
@MattonBooks9 ай бұрын
Yeah, I really need to buy that Elric print again. Lost it somewhere along the way.

I have nothing like your neat shelves (with one exception). I don’t have any complete fantasy series that are all in the same editions. They tend not to match is size, color, or binding. The one exception is my complete Folio Society edition of the works of Anthony Trollope (not fantasy, but it’s about 40 beautiful books). Also, my books are spread out between four rooms in my house. Always interesting to see how others do it. I probably need to discard another shelf or two next year. It gets very clumsy when I start stacking them all two deep.
@MattonBooks9 ай бұрын
Well, my shelves are neat NOW, right after ai reorganised them. We’ll see how beta they remain, as soon as I run out of space again. 😅

That's some serious shelf space! The new one looks very good, congrats Matt! Now since you have *some* space, you can get more books, and thus need *another* shelf--that happened to me! Ha!

Indeed, and is SOOO Elric. Heroic and simultaneously he looks so forlorn. I lost that gifted print I mentioned in my monthly wrap up somewhere along the way. 😥 But his site still sells them, so need to pick one up again eventually.
