NEW Shoei RF-1200 Motorcycle Helmet: Unboxing & Overview

I just picked up an rf-1200 a few weeks ago myself. It’s a great helmet. Fits really snug but doesn’t try to rip your ears off like others when putting on and taking off. The pinlock does exactly what they say, haven’t had any fog issues. Airflow seems good, guess I’ll find out for sure when the Texas heat kicks back in. So far I really like it. Can’t wait to see you set up the sena. I’ll be adding that a little later. Some have had issue with the larger speakers fitting into the cutouts but if you put a foam spacer in first you should be fine from what I’ve seen.

Nice job, Blockhead. I just bought my RF-1200 last week and your tutorial really helped me out. This helmet is BADASS. My new RF replaced my old Shoei Qwest. This one's definitely worth the $$$, all.

Just buy the Mrs. and myself new Shoei's today. Got a super good deal on her RF-1100 and a pretty good deal on my GT-AIR (I need the internal visor for riding to work (5am) and from work (5pm)0, but the safety factor is worth the upgrade and $$$. Totally agree on how well put together the whole helmet it is and how easy it is to remove the visor and all the padding. Such a quality product and I can't wait for the next warm day to try em out!

Awesome choice. I've had my rf1200 for 20,000 miles and it has been fantastic to me. You should do a sena install video, theres not too many quality videos out there for this specific helmet since the speakers don't fit in the cutouts and your how-to videos are always super detailed. Just a thought.

Not supposed to compare weight using different hands. Your predominant hand is typically stronger, so something of equal weight will feel lighter.

Can’t wait to see what you think of the Lid man. I just got one to replace my Qualifier, and won’t turn back, much quieter than the Qualifier, lighter and smaller too. That “thunk” as the visor shuts is hilariously satisfying.

Do you think you are going to miss your Transitions lens? I am a new rider using the Bell Qualifier DLX as my first helmet, and already looking to upgrade. The Transitions lens is all I have ever used.

What do you think about a Transition lens for your helmet? I have one and I love it, but I also don't have the gold/metallic look. I think it's easier than changing out lenses on the road. Thoughts?

Nice helmet and great review, questions- will this pinlocks fit all helmets with the pinlock visor? I have the Shark Ghost outlook helmet do I have to get a specific insert pinlock ?

Idk if u can answer my question or not. I'm riding a road king with the full windshield im having issues with my full face helmet fogging up due to lack of air flow. Do u think a penlock would help or should i look into another helmet?

Devin Broussard A Pinlock insert works by trapping a thin layer of air between the visor and the Pinlock insert. It will definitely help to clear fogging by design. Getting a new helmet would depend on whether your current helmet/visor is Pinlock ready or not.

Not trying to be a smart ass here, Devin, but you DO have all of your vents open, right? If so, opening your face shield a 'tad' while riding will clear your face shield up quick.

I have a small ass head. Usually wear a size small. The small squeezed my grape so bad that I could only keep it on for about 5 minutes. The cheek pads literally pushed my cheeks inside my mouth. Ordered up to a medium and same exact thing happened. Checks are pressed in between my top and bottom teeth. Before I return the 2nd one, am I doing anything wrong? Maybe this is simply not my design. Thanks.

Dont know what head shape the RF-1200 is but yeah people have different shaped heads, neutral, intermediate oval, round, etc. Helmets are made to head shapes. Sucks when you find a helmet you like and want only to see that your headshape doesnt fit in there.

12 minutes of full face helmet review, shoot me now. I had a guy tell me that if a helmet sustains an impact it is no longer safe. even if you drop it in a concrete floor from like 3ft. is this true?

Casually dropping helmet will not make it unsafe. As long as you don't crack the shell you're good.
