Hey Brian I have to do mine too. I have half of a double and I want it to go right back to rear wall. I have some work cut out for me too. Good luck on your build!

Taking the ceiling out will make it useable in the Spring and Fall only. It will be unbearable hot in Summer and Freezing in Winter. I would have covered the ceiling with osb or something.

Ya maybe later down the line we can re-insulate/cover up the peak of the roof. In the winter, I’ll have the wood-burning stove for heat so I’m not too concerned there. Summer time, yeah probably gonna get pretty hot in there. Planning to try and get two ceiling fans hung in there for the front and the back which will help move some air around and then the area that were in, we get a pretty good breeze off of the big field behind us so hopefully that’ll help move some air around.

I'm surprised you didn't find 100 pounds of raccoon poop above that insulation. Also, a bunch of folks, myself included, have attached lights to the back of our garage doors which become ceiling lights when the door is raised.

Sure did find some old mouse tunnels and nests along with some poop lol. Hopefully removing all that junk and filling in all the gaps will help keep them out in the future. And funny you mention that, I was thinking of attaching one to the base of the door and adding in another inline switch for it that way I could turn it off when the door is down or back on when the door is up but then I was trying to figure out how I would run the wiring to it. Would need to keep a bunch of extra wire to allow the door to travel all the way up. Send me some pictures of your on Instagram so I can check it out! @bbluemkejr
