ANTIQUE SHOPPING AT BIG SHOW | FIRST TIME SHOW | VINTAGE VALUES
It's my first time, and I'm really excited about it! I'm selling and shopping the Utica, Michigan Antiques Market, come along and explore new dealers and newly discovered vintage in this place I've never before seen.
This rainy morning is the perfect time to play hooky from my booth and go search for fresh finds to add to my antique inventory...and finds are found! A Royal Dux seal (masquerading as Bewsick), a WWII Royal Canadian Air Force hanky and a comely horsewoman gracing a humidor a few of the vintage values worth taking back to my selling space.
This show is a big one, and we spot a lot of other fun vintage and valuable antiques along the way. A U-Haul kiddie trailer, a sexy 60s fiberglass swag lamp and a scarce sky blue Moon and Stars oil lamp are bright spots, while a viewer couple with a nearby shop show me their space of handsome furniture at buy-me-now prices! A specialist in old sound devices demonstrates a 1905 cylinder disk player, while another dealer with an online presence shows us the cool railroad lantern, vintage advertising and pop culture gear that makes his space such fun.
We hop a few puddles along the way, well worth it to see this surprisingly vast show and its offerings, from the crazy and kitschy to the elegant and stylish. What a fun show! We take our buys back to the booth after amassing so much footage that half of it will appear right after this video as a special live broadcast on our new The Antique Nomad Live! channel. Join us there to see even more!
Here are some of the other special things that we get to see along our shopping excursion:
Keystone troop carrier, 20 gallon crock, floor height candlesticks, iron candelabra, Fenton crest lines, Treasure Craft fruit line, Hummel nun bust, Doulton Silicon Ware, Royal Canadian Air Force hanky, LaGuardia Airport china, morning glory painted horn, Seeburg booth jukebox, Chesterfield flange sign, Bewsick animals, variety of Mason jars, Jumbo Peanut Butter jars, NKOTB buttons, dinette set, concrete planters, chalkware baby, foot warmers, chenille throw, patterned blankets, afghans, 1940s spice rack, pedal car, pie covers, yokes, Tonka car carrier, newspaper wagon, cocktail recipe shaker, India chakki table, Prairie School slag glass window, King flying saucer, Murano fruit paperweights, Hollywood Regency dresser items, doorknobs, etc.

At 4:30, the fiberglass pendant lamp you showed us j-u-u-u-ust didn't wow me. It looked like balled-up pizza. And I usually dig most fiberglass lamps. Thanks for stopping at the Beswick animals. Hearing about those made my day.

Fabulous visit ! I lived near Utica for a long time before my dear husband passed away eight years ago. I don’t remember there being an antique fair there back then. I now live in Sturgis, MI and I’m about 30 minutes from Shipshewana, IN where on Tuesdays and Wednesdays there’s a huge flea market! You should check it out! If you do and decide to participate in it, I will definitely run over to see you and your wares!!!🥰

I really liked the Fenton green with milk glass at the edge and the other one that had the ruby edging on the milk glass. Oh and that milk glass spice set with the black lids was great too. I think it is time for me to go antiquing again. Haven't been in a while. Thanks for letting me tag along and you have a great day, with safe travels

Thank you, George. I LOVE learning from you. I always dive into things after watching you (to learn even more.) I never see the Jumbo Peanut Butter jars up here in Northeast Ohio and I was pretty sure it was an Ohio brand. It looks like it was produced in/near Cincinatti. I found it super interesting that it was made by the Frank Tea and Spice Company (founded in 1896 by immigrant brothers Jacob, Emil, and Charles) that made the still famous Frank’s Red Hot Sauce. Awesome find on that mismarked seal!

Hmm, that's a good question! It's really about thickness I think more than anything else for the glass pieces themselves, but the overall effect in a piece varies depending on how it's used

My now deceased husband told me that everything old has a story. With selling, almost anything, I try to find a back story to go with it. This is why I know so much miscellaneous factoids. My work background is 43 years in the flower industry, overlapped with 25 years in interior design. Now at 66, I have a chance to do what I want with antiques and vintage collectibles. The irony of glass, I have Parkinson, but glass and porcelain speaks to me. One day, I am going to drive up your way.

I'm glad you're enjoying what you wish and having fun with collecting! I look forward to meeting you in person sometime.

Hey George! For $17.00, that foot warmer bottle would've come home with me...probably the $25.00 one, too. Was that dinette set an Arvin set? It reminded me of some they made. I have an Arvin set that my aunt is using now. Loved the 1927 Keystone truck. I've always liked the old newsboy's wagons...just never had a place or use for one. I'm not a big fan of the "Moon and Stars", but I liked that lamp! I used to have a lot of the Chesterfield signs and thermometers...sold them when I moved here. I really liked the Ford rolling TV tray. I saw on old oak phone there...always wanted one of those. Loved the 1905 phonograph! I have an old tall Atlas canning jar that belonged to my great-grandfather. He used it to take water in, when he went to work in the fields. It's a greenish-blue colour. I'd like to find an old Bowman Trucking metal truck...if one was ever made. That was a fantastic show!!! Many things there that caught my eye. Thanks for taking us along!!!
@TheAntiqueNomad
@TheAntiqueNomad 3 жыл бұрын
Those were rather low prices on the warmers! I didn't check but the base of the dinette set looked like Arvin to me. I think the wagon would be fun to use around the garden, but otherwise they are a bit large to just display. I don't know about Bowman Trucking, but I"ll think of you if it ever comes up!
