Thanks for promoting local stores 👍 Just last week I found a local store for audio equipment, cables and such (mostly studio and DJ gear). I do like to go to a store where I can see, feel and listen to something I want to buy. The more we buy through the internet, the more we hurt local stores that have to close down because of no customers ... In the end I bought a more expensive pair of wireless headphones with a transmitter unit. I was always against the use of wireless headphones but not having a cable that pulls on my ears is something that I find worth the money

The HD25 for recording monitoring & HD600 for home editing are great for me - they won't kill your budget either

I currently use a Zoom H2n for field recordings but am really tempted to get the Tascam X8. However, I don't know why I'm tempted (other than being a gadget nut) because I don't need a 6/8 track recorder for field recordings. Yet you are using it for field recordings. Is there any particular reason for that? (I know it's 32bit float, but so is for example the Zoom F3 which is smaller and cheaper)

I love the Beyerdynamics DT990 Pro’s. Mostly used for mixing music at the moment, but I can see they’d be great for field recording too. Specially useful for your sound packs. :)

I used to use the shure 840 for mixchecking! Great headphones! For fieldrecording I use the m50 or Sennheiser in ear 100pro! If you are looking for a professional mobile mixing simulation: Slate VSX. I use this since they came out. Absolute mindblowing! Great video!

Thank you Rouven! M50 are definitely a great choice. I do have in ears too. The ATH 50 from Audio Technica but they are so flat and have no bass. :(

Hello, Jeff! The D11 is the one I'm using for wind protection, although it's not as good. Bubblebees Industries is developing one. I'm not sure when it will be available, but you may message them on Instagram. When it comes to settings, there is no "exact" setting because every situation is unique. I believe you will be able to find the time to experiment with the settings and your unique preferences. We always clap with our hands for audio synchronizing since it works best for us. But only when the audio comes from the recorders otherwise we use the Rode system for the lav, which records directly into the camera.

Marcel, you'd love the DT-700 Pro X (Beyerdynamic) so comfortable and perfect for editing ( that's what I use, flat and has replaceable cable as well as cushy pads --- you'd love their comfort! Cheers! great content as always!

Nice pick! Hope you are happy with the Shure headphones. I use the DT770 Pro 250 Ohms for ~3 years now, but with the velour earcaps because they are much softer. Thanks anyway for sharing your honest thoughts about your gear. Have fun in Korea 👍😊

Oh yes I would loved having the BD but they are very uncomfortable around my ears. I think I couldn't use 250 Ohms on my Mac. Probably not strong enough?

@@FreeToUseSounds You should definitely choose the more comfortable ones, so I guess the Shure hps are the better ones for you. I use my BDs only at home with a Focusrite 2i2 so 250 Ohms are ok. The new M1 Macbooks can now handle headphones with higher impedance directly. No need for amplifiers anymore.

I have a question unrelated to this video but i see you actively respond to comments so I want to ask your opinion. What is the appropriate length of ambient recordings? I always record mine too short but I really dont know the sweet spot to aim for. I do mostly nature recordings. Thank you for your channel. 5:37 Today on the menu: Fried Portacapture :) Ich benutze immer noch einfache In-Ohr-Hörer. Schade dass Tascam die Probleme des X8 nicht lösen konnte. Gut, dann kaufe ich eben einen F3 und bastle zwei Clippys mit zwei Minischwanenhälsen dran - dann hab ich auch meinen 32bit-Handheld-Recorder. Viel Spaß noch und vielen Dank für das tolle Video.

Ich bin nen großer Freund von Shure, aber ich finde die SRH-840 nicht wirklich gut - klanglich und vom Gewicht. Für mich ist und bleibt die Nummer 1 der DT770.
