NEW Skill Point System in "DDR WORLD"

KONAMI revealed a new skill point system as part of the upcoming new version of DanceDanceRevolution, "DDR WORLD," similar to skill point systems in other BEMANI games.

this is turning out to be so hype. some quick things: -Flare Guage was introduced in Babylon's Galaxy. It's a non-regenerative guage (on a scale of 1-9 & EX) that punishes greats, goods and misses, with worse judgements drai~ing the guage more. 1 is the most lenient, while 9 can make you fail extremely fast There are "target scores" attributed but they are estimated and not hard limits. There is also a "Flare EX" (the guage we origInally saw with players starting to grind 鳳 (Hou), which also punishes perfects. -Floating Flare is likely a per-song thing rather than for the entire set. If the EX guage drains, it would getcknocked down to 9→8→7→.......all the way down to 1. My question here that we have to wait to have answered is, if Flare 1 depletes, does thevplayer get pushed into Normal Gauge or does the song fail out? *shrug* -Skillattack ranks the top 30 scores. The point scaling is kinda flawed in my honest opinion though, so I'm very interested to see how the Flare Skill points scale, as well as it being helpful that more strict clear requirements are rewarded.

I honestly thought the Flare Gauge was stupid when I first saw it (both from a KZbin stream and in person). Just because I know accuracy has become now a “gold” standard to getting a good score. Going for a MFC/PFC is hard enough, and now they wanna add this silly gauge to the mix to make it more complicated. I do think the new ranking system is a nice touch to the game, but I question why the Flare Gauge is a necessity to accelerate the progress. Especially once a player starts to play harder and more intricate charts.

Flare skill rating is huge, prob the best addition to the new ddr mix. Rating points/ranks are like the most important feature to any modern rhythm game and it's insane that ddr didn't have it until now. The experience of ranking up and getting a new title is shit that players will grind months for, documenting every score they grind, discussing and debating for hours online on how to squeeze out more ranking points, etc will breathe new life into the playerbase. Just look at life4 and see how much money/time players are willing to spend on ranks that aren't even displayed in the game. Now we have a ranking system that's shown off everytime you log in, everytime you finish a song or a set, that's 100% official and fully integrated into the game.

Is the Flare gauge the same as the original galaxy mode songs? You get Flare I-V. I, being the hardest, and it's a life bar that doesn't revive, and if you get anything less than a perfect, it goes down. You have to score a 978k money score or higher I think.

If you fail the first gauge, you go down to the second, etc. Flare V is relatively easy to pass for a player if he is comfortable with the level he's playing at

So basically, "Floating Flare" gives you multiple life gauges, am I getting it right?

From the sounds of it, you start with the highest tier gauge and it will get knocked down a tier when it depletes and repeat until you fail or clear with whichever Flare gauge you're left with. Seems to affect how many Flare Skill points you will get
