The way light reflects off a bumper usually makes it look different. Will be hard to get a perfect match. Tidy the wheels/lug nuts and just enjoy it as it is.

I spent several months in England back in 1994. I've had a valid drivers license back in the States since 1967. So on numerous occasions, while in the UK, someone would toss me the car keys and ask me to drive. I'd toss the keys back and say, "no way you idiots drive on the wrong side of the road'. This video reminds me of that.

That little black U shaped bracket on the dash is the holder for a pop-socket. The pop-socket attaches to the back of your phone and allows you to slide your phone into the bracket. These are attached with sticky pads and can be removed fairly easily.

I have an '09 300, and as you say these are great little driving cars. Bought mine Oct 2021, have put 14,000 kilometres on it so now up to 92,000, like yours it has a really good service history which I will maintain, and I think that is the one thing to do to keep the car going well as it gets older - just like us cars don't get better as they grow older !! Hope you will get to do some road-tripping and enjoy the grand touring experience these cars were made for.

Great car and I am just now looking on a SLK 350 Sport with the same color. If you look on the alignment between the front and the hood, you see that the gaps are different on each side. I think that it was parked and the front was stuck over a curb, and when backing it off, the hood and the front made contact and changed the gap. The front could have been damaged and have had to be repaired and re-painted. Thanks for all the videos!

Keep a close watch on the coolant in the expansion tank for any signs of oil. Oil cooler gasket failure is common on the M272.

Plastic bumpers are hard to match and silver can be difficult but looks good over all

In the end, that little three main bearing Midget will give you more enjoyment and use than either one of those expensive whales(comparitively speaking). Nothing beats a lightweight for shifting and drifting on a twisty country road. Signed: former 1964 MGB owner and current 1991 Mazda Miata owner

Nice job on the headlights. I do mine on my CLK 500 every other year. Good luck on the paint matching. I had the bonnet of my CLK repainted and stressed I wanted it blended properly…..this brilliant silver paint is difficult. Any way rubbish job and a year or so later got fed up with seeing the 1/2 shade difference. Went to a specialist company who used a paint manufacturer who collected the paint mixing info from all their users around the world. This specialist proposed to use the most commonly used mix code and wanted £1500 for the job! So still have the miss match. Good luck with it.8

thank you just purchased an 09 plate ,got a few small issues but the main one was the rear brakes ,check the back dust cover mine was rusted and the handbrake shoes were loose inside the hub ,replaced all the rear brakes so all done now

Before spending a lot of money on replacing the interieur soft touch parts, you should try cleaning these w.g. with koch chemie asc or simply isopropanol and literally rubbing the soft touch surface off. I did that on similar parts on CLK (209) and SL (230). Should work on the SLK (171) as well. Greets from Stuttgart ✌️

Will try that - depends on exactly what kind of coating they used. On other cars I have found IPA works sometimes, but other coatings are resistant to it. Thanks!

They are robust little cars, mine is a series 1 , 2005 SLK350. Had it since new. Great little car. Only has 37,000km on the clock!

Be careful if you replace the head unit with a non-standard MB one, as some information might not display on the screen. I would go for a reconditioned standard head unit. Performance wise and sound wise the MB head unit is very good. I have an SL and use the standard head unit which is connected to an Audison system via the MOST optical connection so I get excellent audio sound in the car.

Has anyone ever looked into replacing the roof with a carbon fiber roof which should be stronger and lighter albeit more expensive but certainly worth iy to collectors. Could someone post a video on aftermarket replacement trim pieces'.eg designio seat replacement . I have a 2008 SLK 280

Looks like it hasn’t been garaged much based on the lug nuts, headlights and external trim pieces. Interior leather needs a good clean and nourish as soft top cars are hard on the interior surfaces. Colourlock products are what MB uses and recommends. I use it on my AMG with Napa leather.
