→ Metabo HPT 36V MultiVolt Cordless Paper Strip Framing Nailer | Includes Battery and Charger | NR3690DC - amzn.to/3sH87EH
-----------------------------------------------------
As technology advances, we are seeing battery-operated nailers shrink in size. The new Metabo HPT 18-volt 18g brad nailer is the closest battery-operated nailer we have seen in size to a pneumatic. This is exciting because it shows that one day we might see battery nailers become the same size as their smaller and lighter pneumatic counterparts.
When we see smaller, better-performing tools, it puts a smile on our faces. We are joking at the beginning of the video about the Milwaukee Fanboys, obviously. But many people do not give Metabo HPT Tools, and other brands, a chance because there are some great marketing companies out there that build decent tools. In many ways, Metabo HPT and Makita are both engineering companies that make great tools but do not have the marketing abilities like other companies.

Got the new 18g, couldn’t be happier with it. Was my first Metabo HPT tool, so impressed I’ve been looking at a lot of their other tools now as well. Seem to be great quality for a bit less than the big brands like Dewalt and Milwaukee.

Great video, however I choose my 18ga nailer based on the tip to get into tight corners. If Metabo would provide that function I would switch to them. Love the smaller and lighter, just need the tight corner ability.

I like the metabo guns quite a bit. A lot of cordless tools I own are milwaukee but metabo/hitachi had better nailers first. I have metabos old and new 18ga, 16ga, 15ga and 2 18V framing guns as well as milwaukees 2nd gen 18ga, angled 16ga, the 1st gen 15ga, and their framing gun. Both make great cordless nailers. The 1st gen m18 ones are clunky but they worked for a cordless option. My one small complaint toward milwaukee is that while I like how well the 16ga gun works it is a bit annoying having to carry angled 16 ga nails for just that gun. As someone who uses these almost daily I can say that neither brand is quite up to taking out pneumatics. Any major work I do in an unfinished home is with air nailers. It's nice to be able to hang 2 guns on my belt that can be easily switched back and you'll barely notice the weight. You're not doing that with cordless. Also, While cordless is getting much better they're just not as consistent at driving fasteners. I pull out cordless if I'm working in a finished space where I can cause damage dragging a hose or sometimes smaller jobs or punchout type work. Cordless is worth it's (very heavy) weight in gold for those purposes.

if I knew Metabo was going to release a new brad nailer, I would have waited to see how their nailers perform. I like the fact that you can refill this nailer yourself if you ever need to do so rather than having it shipped out for service. I like the Milwaukee, but I just can't help but feel that it needs to be service later down the line. Not saying you don't have to with the Metabo HPT, but at least it has other means to maintain/troubleshoot it when you are on a pinch. I also want to see how the framing nailer compares to the 18v because the Milwaukee framing nailer is just a brick.

Was a huge FAN of Hitachi and had the Gen. 1 nailers along with pneumatic nailers (all of them for both). I ended up selling all my hitachi nailers BUT my framing and rebought the cordless framer. Also have Metabo HPT nailers too, now…. That said. When production working….pneumatic is way better especially overhead work, BUT have had the good fortune to test the new 36v Metabo hpt nailers and gotta say this: AS HAVE ALL MILWAUKEE M18 NAILERS Too (and 23g pin); these 36v nailers are AWESOME and ABSOLUTELY LOVED the new Metabo HPT strap nailer! Which Milwaukee don’t have, yet! So, as couldn’t keep the strap nailer from Metabo HPT, when it’s released for retail…..I’m 100% buying one! I like it that much even over my pneumatic for 2 reasons: Able to use diff size nails (as my pneumatic strap/TICO nailer only accepts 1 size, 1-½” nails), second reason is don’t have to deal with hose, as it can get in way at times when in rafter or trying to get into small corners/spaces and don’t wanna get palm nailer. 3rd to throw in, the nailer isn’t as heavy as thought…..as is all these new cordless nailers, not like gen 1 etc…. SO, that’s a huge deal and plus, for a bonus (still not pneumatic weight, but definitely not gen 1 cordless weight either). Can’t wait, exciting times, and also for Milwaukee and DeWalt to “sadly” refresh theirs, but if Milwaukee follows suit w/ gen 1, will be 2 yrs before we see it😂😏 (which is cool, long as GOOD durable nailer and not rushed). Will say, Milwaukee Lin nailer is prett6 great, but don’t forget Metabo HPT has one too and was out before anyone, do believe (but being 1st doesn’t mean good, but Metabo 23g nailer is pretty good). Thx for info and vid, cheers✌🏻

Oh, one thing though….. I 100% ALWAYS MOD MY HITACHI/METABO HPT cordless nailer’s Rafter hook. They ARE TOO BIG, BULKY, GET IN WAY, AND HANG ON BELT/BAG….ODDLY…,THEY SUCK, IMO. So, GOOD NEWS, the 18g brad nailer’s Hook, is compatible w/ all Metabo HPT/Older hitachi cordless nailers and can buy separately to swap the big rafter hook. It’s what I do and works GREAT!!! Wish Metabo just did this and sold the original rafter hook separately if ppl want, but in my experience; the smaller rafter/belt hook from 18g line is BETTER, least for me; and yes, IMO ( KZbin order one and give a swap/try….think you’ll like and can get from Metabo HPT directly too😉) ✌🏻

That new brad nailer looks pretty nice. Don’t think my original version can shoot 2” into oak without leaving them proud. Framing gun much different than the 18V version besides the voltage? Pretty happy with the 18V power but it’s quite heavy. Does take the 36V as well but they are awkwardly big for the tool. Only fits the slim packs nicely. When will Metabo HPT figure out their hooks? The one on my 18V framer is way too big. Looks like the one on the 36V is too small. Has to fit a 2x in my opinion. Hoping they can slim down the 16 gauge finish nailer next.

At timestamp 5:39, you opened the nail clear section with the power on. Oops! Safety first, always remove power before clearing any power tools. FYI, my cordless line of tools is now all Metabo. Still have some Hatchi ones, and corded ones laying around as backups. I still use my old WEN 18 ga brad nailer since I don't do a lot of trimming projects. BUT, having said that, if I were, then adding this to my collection would be awesome. OK, if and when my WEN kicks the bucket, I will get this brad nailer for sure.

@@tooltipswithtommy, I have the Milwaukee M12 Pin Nailer. It is an amazing little tool. It’s about the same size as my Ridgid air pin nailer, just wider in some areas. They’re using the same compressed nitrogen gas spring technology as the M18 Fuel Gen 2- 18 Gauge Brad Nailer, so it drives pin nails as fast as you pull the trigger. Once adjusted to the wood you’re using and the depth you want, it never produces a proud pin. Good led placement, dry fire lock out. I used it to attach shoe molding to new baseboard. It did a beautiful job, leaving a super small, very nice hole that’s barely visible when standing. I figured out why they didn’t make it an M12 Fuel tool,it would’ve been too powerful. When holding the safety trigger, you can shoot the pins out just like a handgun. LOL! I was shooting at this big ass spider a couple of weeks ago! I think they were afraid of liability issues if they made it more powerful. Anyway…I really like it. Along with the 18 Gauge Fuel Gen 2 Brad Nailer, I rarely, if ever, use my compressor and air guns. The 18 Gauge Brad Nailer is definitely best in class. I love using the tool!

I’m pretty sure you can’t go wrong with either Milwaukee or HiKoki. They’re the only real game in town for this stuff. I’ve got the Hitachi/Metabo HPT 16, 23 and framing and they perform flawlessly. Lucky I waited on the 18. The only negative is that they ship with the crappy old charger that is hard to understand (one color led and counterintuitive flashing/solid) and the single one row compact battery that has no level indicator. I’ve gotten ahold of the the 2.5 ah 36v batteries and the much more understandable newer 36v charger and life is a peach. And yes, for the record, the nailers do work quicker and better with standard size batteries.
