Today we're reviewing a cordless, multivolt finish nailgun by Metabo HPT. What's different about it and why do we as deck builders use such a thing?

I had the same issue with the depth of the nail no matter how I tuned it. Read the book, realized it comes with a tip guard between the nail rack and battery pack. Slipped that on and you get a much better depth control.

We continue to use Hitachi/Metabo HPT for most of our nailers needs We have tried the red, yellow and others but the green continue to be the standard for us The newer 36V framers are top notch

Great information thanks for sharing. I'm looking to buy their 36 volt 21 degree framing nailer. And this finishing nailer as well.

@@steveguzman6640 try Lowes right now They have buy more save more online that as re making some MHPT tools pretty cheap Especially that full size 1/2" plunge router we use a bunch on jobsite for cutting out windows, doors and other trim outs and in the shop it's a beast

you use a brad nailer to pre nail joists to a ledger board before installing hangers?? that i have never heard of. where did you come up with that?
@ProxyFinal
@ProxyFinal 2 жыл бұрын
I am waiting for them to do a revision. I still love their Framing nailer despite not driving nails consistently, but weight of it outweighs the cons. This particular nailer in this video, I just wish it had a little more umph for longer nails against harder materials. drdecks knows how to make good use of the tools though.

Do u have the 36V framers They are best on mkt-we have all the colors and mostly use green for most applications

Would you recommend the 15 gauge over the 16 gauge for installing a soffit 1/2 inch tongue and groove Cedar cladding?

@davidleroy7708 2 жыл бұрын
16 guage is probably just fine, just make sure you use exterior nails. If you have 15 I'd use that tho. Nails are quite a bit larger with much grater holding capacity than a 16.

Metabo makes the best cordless nailers imo. The newer generation isn't much bigger than a pneumatic model and it also recoils almost exactly like a pneumatic. There is no weird charg-up sound when you hit the trigger either - just the sound of the nail being fired

I bought this gun about 6 months ago, used it for one day and returned it. I could not get it to sink 2 1/2" nails in oak, which admittedly is a lot to ask but I do use 15ga a lot on hardwoods to face nail where the stapler doesn't reach. I was disappointed because I have their Framing gun and brad nailer and love them both. Picked up the Gen2 Milwaukee 15 ga and it works flawlessly, i like the precision nose better too.

Milwaukee is the iphone of the cordless tool world... Overpriced
@michaelnichols7669
@michaelnichols7669 2 жыл бұрын
@@dilldowschwagginz2674 While I do agree Milwaukee is usually more expensive than other brands, in this case at the time both the Milwaukee and Metabo were the same price if I recall correctly. I’d have stuck with Metabo if it worked but as I stated it didn’t for me. I have no brand loyalty, I buy what works best.

Any chance a bigger battery can help? I'm using it on trim wood but it leaves a lot of nails out, not too much at all but enough to need a hammer
@michaelnichols7669
@michaelnichols7669 Жыл бұрын
@@darkmind5259 Possible but probably not. As it happens my Milwaukee today couldn’t sink 15ga 2 1/2 nails in oak, had to roll out a hose. I’ve gone back to pneumatic for most nailing using my cordless only when it’s very inconvenient to roll out a hose.

@@michaelnichols7669Everyone said you had to get the 36v battery for it to be flawless. Until then yeah the smaller battery won't work on everything.

I just bought a metabo 1865 18v 16g straight finish nailer. Right out of the box, charged battery full, does not sink metabo,bostich or grip rite nails 2” or 2.5” nails. Out of 100 nails didn’t sink a single one no matter what adjustments made. Throughly disappointed. Any tips before I smash it against an ibeam or take it back?

Electro-galvanized nails are not approved for ACQ lumber. You putting those into your joists shows either you don't care or you're just ignorant. Stainless or aluminum.

Milwaukee is extremely good with them. My coworker has had his 18g for 4 years and works so well which is what convinced me. I got the 18g and 15g and I even dropped the 18g off 16ft scaffolding. No damage due to the rubber.

*MANY COMMENTS STATE THIS NAILER, 15 GAUGE ANGLE BY METABO HPT, HAS TROUBLE WITH 2-1/2 NAILS. AND EVEN SMALLER FOR HARDWOOD. YET THE RYOBI MODEL SINKS 2.5" NAILS UNDER THE HARDWOOD/OAK. RYOBI HAS MOST POWERFUL UNIT. STILL SELLING, BARE TOOL, $225.00 AVERAGE. RYOBI STOPPED MAKING A GREAT NAILER*

Metabo HPT' is the standard for fasteners and nailers for 25+ yrs and counting both pneumatic and cordless They offered the first true realistic cordless nailers along with Paskode and this 15guarge was out when the others were still in diapers The other brands have copies MHPT'/Hitachi's technology and when MHPT updates the 15guage as they have the 21° /30°, Duplex, hanger nailers and 18Guage( it will also be the top gun again
