Thank you, very nice reaction! Just Nightwish doing Nightwish things! Allways something new and different! Nightwish is their own genre and no other band comes close to the level they are at. Never, in the history of music entertainment, have a set of skills and talent collided in such powerful manner. Tuomas is a true genius as a composer and with lyrics.

3:04 thats exactly what Tuomas said in a YT clip a few weeks ago. It has definitely an 80s vibe to it…especially in the beginning. I love it but thats maybe because I grew up in the 80s 😜 Great reaction! 👍🏻

Good catch as Tuomas intended the song to sound different from their usual stuff and deliberately aimed for an 80's sound. Floor was singing about how the fear stricken are easily manipulated by big corporations, religions, media, social media, political parties and the usual slew of demagogues. The children's choir was singing the hopeful part demonstrated by the little girl with the rose. Don't expect Nightwish to have music videos where the band are playing their instruments as they have gone away from that formula. Their three most recent music videos have all been mini-movies with the band members as the actors and I think that we should expect more of the same in the future. You're right that these songs take multiple listens to fully grasp. I've often found myself to be down on a Nightwish song at first listen, but grow to love it. The new album will be out in September. The Nightwish KZbin channel has a series of short videos on the making of the album.

This is the second single of the new upcoming album Yesterwynde, which will be released 20th of september. Tuomas announced that this single will have a typical 80ies vibe which it definitely has. I hear influences clearly by Pink Floyds The Wall and Queens Night at the opera. In the chorus right after the instrumental part and Choir I hear Agneta from ABBA in Floors voice. Story has elements of George Orwells 1984 and the video also is directing this way. Over all you need to hear it several times - like mostly in Nightwish songs - to get the full enjoyment with it. With the songs of the last years of Nightwish it is very important to listen to the lyrics well, or to take a look at them. The lyrics are often very deep, and often you have to listen (or read) again to understand the deeper message. The songs of Nightwish are not just superficial these days.

Yes, it's called progress. They continuously evolve and progress. The composition and arrangements get more complex and sofisticated, things are done more purposeful and thoughtful, less to satisfy the listeners, and more to send them in a journey of discovery. While they always will lose a few fans of their old music that can't get over the changes in their music, they also gain new fans that appreciate the increasing diversity and complexity in their lyrics and their music.

Interesting that one of the producers said he considers the new album to be closer to a cross between Once and Imaginaerum than any of the previous two. Maybe it's subtle or maybe it's more obvious similarities. No one would see me complaining about it either way as those are a couple of my favorite albums.

Tuomas said about this song: Floor at first is acting to be the preacher of fear, then the kids saying how things really should be and in the last chorus they join and that’s where the magic happens. For me, the children’s choir gives a great twist and balance to the song and gives me chills every time! Like stated before in Weak Fantasy: Fear is a choice you embrace! Universe: not to spoil anything, but you can stop worrying ❣️ September 10th they release the 3rth song and September 20th the whole album will be released.

One thing I learned about nightwish is new song sounds weird at first I thought the same thing when I heard this. But nightwish is best live. When they go on tour, we will get a live version of this. I believe it will be totally different. Good reaction.

Enjoyed your reaction. Musically this feels very similar to the Human Nature album, especially Music. The section of the video that you reminded you of The Never Ending story is actually showing Mayan's on their knees with a solar eclipse occurring over their pyramids, a reference to the end of the world predicted by the Mayan calendar that was supposed to happen in 2012. This is definitely a song that needs multiple listens to unpack. It also needs a deep dive into the lyrics to get both the meaning of the song and the video. I think this is Tuomas's warning of humanities proclivity to freakout over the next disaster that people are pushing. My two favorite lines are "A new strain sent you back into your cave. Obey, stay away, cover up" and "A need to feel dread, gloom, awe. A lust for never-ending doom porn" I especially love Tuomas's poetic turn in the second line to describe how people are fascinated with the bad and evil and give short shrift to the positive and uplifting. As they say in the news business, if bleed it leads.

Tuomas said this was lyrically controversial and with a more 80's groove. When you listen more, read the lyrics. Also, take into account how clear Floor's annunciation is with this fast pronunciation and English being her 2nd language. Not to mention needing a dictionary to research Tuomas's poetry.

Tuomas has also repeatedly composed more pop-oriented songs in the past. He says that this keeps the music fresh. If he always composes the way people expect it, it always sounds the same and becomes boring. Tuomas creates the first demo on his own. After that, the band and orchestral arranger help him implement his ideas. The last music video with the band "performing" the song was in 2015 for "Endless forms most beautifull". After that video Tuomas said that they'll never again record themselves just standing there and playing.

Nightwish was awesome...in 2013 during the Wacken concert. Floor Jansen is truly one of the best vocalists on the planet. I never heard this song before, but I'm not a huge fan. I love you guys, though!

Not a one listen banger - totally different style, IMHO in the beginning the video was not good, but after 10 times seeing it even it grew on me. Listen only the song/music few times and the song grows into you easily - a challenging one this one, love that they are trying different styles and not just make songs replicated from Nemo, GLS, The Greatest Show On Earth and take an easy bucks in and satisfy many "I know NW, this is NW and this is how I want them to sound forever", because everyone would just be bored with them after a while..

Thing is, NW was best when Tuomas kept his music simple and emotional. For me slow downhill started from Imaginaerum. That and few albums before were great. Endless.. was still good with some of the best songs they've done but also not so good ones, Human album was steeper downhill with mostly softer and overcomplicated songs, and this new sounds even more artistic, and as if he had way too much time in the studio to put in thousands of mixes in songs. Sad but true - from my POV
