As a longtime Stalker fan I was actually shocked at how much this felt like Stalker. I thought for sure they’d dumb it down. But it remains a game that doesn’t hold your hand and can be completely brutal at times. Never felt better to be a piece of meat back in the zone. I legit played 12 hours yesterday and the two massive post review patches must have helped as I didn’t see a single bug. Performance is still in the 40’s though in Perf Mode (locked 30 in Quality) but that is to be expected with a cpu heavy UE5 dense open world. Given how punishing that engine is on consoles this gen. And I was surprised image quality is as clean as it is. Good stuff. Really hoping this comes to PS5 right when the 3 months is up as I really want to see how it handles on the Pro. And the game has been fantastic so far.

Here's why I think cdpr isn't doing a ps5 pro patch. They aren't required to since the game came out so long ago and Cyberpunk 2077 is on an engine they're no longer using, so any time spent working on that engine to support ps5 pro is a waste of time.

Corporate politics can be weird. Seems like Kadokawa would prefer to be bought by another Japanese company than a foreign one. As an anime and manga fan, I don't see Sony as having anything close to a monopoly. Kadokawa isn't a small company, but they are far from the biggest. Bandai, Toei and Shueisha are the big dogs in that yard and they aren't being bought by anyone anytime soon. There vast majority of Japanese anime studios and manga publishers have nothing to do with Sony. Maybe Americans have some grievances since Sony owns Crunchyroll and (now defunct) Funimation. But a person can easily point to Netflix which seems to continually gearing up their anime funding and library. There is also Hidive and Retrocrush, much smaller streaming services, but they have decent enough libraries. And I think it's only a matter of time before Amazon starts funding their own anime just like Netflix does.

People all of a sudden worried about anime and Sony becoming a monopoly but their life was all sunshine and rainbows when Microsoft acquired Mojang, Bethesda, Activision and Blizzard. Sony already has a working relationship with these developers. Demon’s Souls, Bloodborne and Déraciné were all PlayStation exclusives by FromSoftware. Akiba’s Trip, Akiba’s Beat, Rain, Patchwork Heroes and all the “Badman” games were PlayStation exclusives by Acquire Corp. They have also invested money into Kadokawa and FromSoftware. I swear these Xbox/PC “gamers” are the most entitled people to exist. I would rather have Sony, a company which has proven to be competent enough to launch multiple successful products like PlayStation, Walkman, Bravia, etc., acquire Kadokawa than a nefarious company like Tencent.

Remember about a year ago there was that one story about a few localizers adding their own agenda to their scripts? And remember how the anti-woke cultists then claimed that every single anime ever made is somehow infected by the dreaded woke? And this was after those same people spent years pretending to be anime fans, despite displaying no knowledge or genuine interest in the artform. I think the localizer that do betray the audience and original creators need to be rooted out, for sure. However, I don't think it is fair (or rational) to accuse every single localizer of being such a person. There are plenty of people who work in the western anime distribution industry who are genuine fans and want to respect the material. (PS, for an already long post, there were crappy localizers even before the modern "culture war". I'm also critical in general of these large gaming companies buying up all studios and publishers. However, I also think there is at least one major difference between Sony and Microsoft - Sony has proven that they know how to manage and foster game studios. Yes, they also had flops and closed some studios, but there is no comparison to Microsoft which is nowadays often seen as the place where studios go to die. I think that at least there's a chance FromSoftware would continue making great games when under the PS umbrella, while if Microsoft bought them, I'd fully expect them to go the way of the Dodo within a year.

@greayeve3035 I would start with the Stalker trilogy you can get and see if you like it. They are hardcore. I played the og games and have the Anomaly/Gamma mod on pc, so I knew what to expect. The games were ahead of their times. Stalker is hard first and foremost. You must take it slow. Your shots matter. The Ai will wreck you. The Ai is dynamic and always moving around in the world. The zone is brutal. The game does not hold your hand so much. The game is atmospheric. You have to eat, drink, manage radiation, bleeding, and, of course, anomalies. There are so many good KZbinrs out there who have good Stalker content if you are interested. I would recommend checking them out if interested. I know the og trilogy released on consoles not too long ago, and they are good ports of the original pc release. The game is very much a pc game in its core. Mouse and keyboard is the best way if you can. Stalker is unlike any game you will ever play. It is addictive and imo one of the best games ever made. I wouldn't say it's like fallout really at all. It's a good comparison but not quite the same. I say give them a try. Be patient. Take it slow. Pay attention to your surroundings. The zone is unforgiving.

The large majority of companies have embraced DEI into their fold. A small part or full steam ahead depends on the company, Sony has included it in their games, imo to a suitable level, with the exception of concord. If you are upset with how HFW portrayed the potential friendship with Aloy and her companion, that's a you problem. Miles Morales, meh, whatever he's black, he's not Peter Parker. I don't have an issue with new characters just don't eff with originals. Ergo Disney and their princesses. Xbox have included in their games as well, to a greater extent, and no one bats an eyelid. Starfield :- pronouns, gay npc side quests, relationships with same sex companions. Forza horizon :- tick the boxes characters. It's happening across the industry, not something I want, so I pick and choose what I buy and to what level the dei has been injected. Concord wasn't my type of game, but even if it was, I more than likely wouldn't have touched it after the initial demo was released. Very slow gameplay, and tbh the pronouns for a robot annoyed me.
