They did in fact double down, but the people are also doubling down on not spending money. The evidence are the layoffs that keep happening especially in DEI infested companies and some companies like Sony Japan are eyeing Sony America like a hawk. They are scared of losing money at the end of the day and people just need to be more literate media-wise. These videos are helping people in media literacy hence why failguard didn't get nominated. I disagree because, by definition, a DLC (Downloadable Content) is an extension of an existing game and cannot function independently. Without the base game, a DLC is unplayable. Therefore, it seems unreasonable for a DLC to compete for Game of the Year against full games, which are standalone, complete experiences. They should create a DLC of the year and do not look down to full games.

Even with massive expansions like the new *Elden Ring* content, we must remember our preference for recognizing complete, standalone games. I'd accept Erdtree as GOTY, even if I haven't played it and that it's a DLC, rather than Veilguard being nominated in any kind of award. I am also hoping that Bafta snub this game and not be nomited for best written game because the writing in Veilguard is the worst thing ever, Doki Doki Literature Club has a better written storyline compared to this one.

Honestly Brian, I think alot of the topics such as homosexual, trans, female, and people of non white/asian backgrounds that dei can cover can be great games. Bg3 and some of Biowares previous work prove that. They had tasteful gay/lesbian romances well before it was legal. I think everyone deserves love as a human. I dont think that having a trans person included truely that revolutionary in 2024. The issue really is that a company like Bioware should have had more tact when doing this. They dont have the deft hand they used to when talking about these topics unfortunately.

I've been saying since it was first brought up as a point by others - DEI was not then, and is not now or will ever be legal. It is exclusionary while obfuscating that fact (it doesn't matter WHICH race or gender you exclue = what matters is that one IS being excluded) There is a reason for discrimination laws as to employment. Asking someone if they are X special rainbow thing or more than one special rainbow thing, is PATENTLY NOT LEGAL. Refusing to hire someone who ISN'T those things, purely on the basis it might "exclude" someone that IS those things; especially if the person that isn't those things HAS the qualifications you want and captain rainbow sparkles DOESN'T, is more than illegal. It's just plain stupid business practice. * The awards for all creative media NEVER should've been allowed to post the requirements that they have now. * Employers in any state or province should have always been aware that the idea of asking a prospective employee whether they are X thing, is ILLEGAL. Likely to get them sued and frankly, likely to be bad press down the road. This whole thing was never going to end well. For anyone. It's ruined lives, allowed substandard quality games into an industry that already had issues with gamer frustrations growing thanks to Day One Patch; and paid DLC or Lootbox shennanigans. Paid mods... Seven hundred different versions of game with X "collector edition content attached, for a bigger price tag of course. It has and will continue to cost them BILLIONS. Not millions. We've already well past that point. They can still turn course, since they see the iceberg for what it is. The question is, will they?

I'm loving this channel more and more. MINOR SPOILERS AHEAD: I played veilguard and it's a roller coaster of good and bad. The gender idealology stuff is quite literally stuffed down your throat right from the the beginging at the character creator. Taash's whole entire companion quests is about her gender identity. And you the main character, you, don't have any option to tell her just to suck it up or shut up like old bioware games where you could be mean. (KOTOR where I could call Jolee a crazy old coot lol) Rook just feels like an enabling therapist for the whole team with no conflicts between characters or Rook. I like the combat and I half get that I just kind of accepted this game as a reboot and wasn't going to be anything like DA:O. The romance dialogue sounds like it was wrttten by a socially awkward 13 year old that's watched too many teenage sitcom dramas. About the only thing I found good about DA:V was the combat, mission based quest system and Solas' character.

I care that they ruin already established franchises with gender and race swapping, awful writing, etc. If they had just made their own characters and their own games, we wouldnt be having this discussion. However, the only way anybody was going to pay them any attention was by doing exactly what they did. I never mocked Dustborn. Make your game, see if it has a market. I never mocked Concord. Make your game, see if it has a market. The only "woke" games that have been successful are ones that were attached to an already liked IP. Even then, its no guarantee. Stalker 2, a niche game, just smoked Veilguard in player count. They _know_ theres no market for it, which is how we ended up here.

A couple things suck about layoffs in these DEI companies. Most likely the decision to make woke trash came from the investors and C-suite. The executives just get bonuses and raises for running a studio in the ground. The other thing is that the people most likely to be let go because they don't check enough boxes, are the people that disagreed the most with ideological insertion. Such is life.

I'm against Sony's acquisition of Kadokawa because that would give them a clear monopoly on anime distribution. Not a fan of how they handled the Crunchyroll acquisition either. The Game Awards is just a walking disaster at this point. They're making it more and more clear that this is a production by the media for the media and they might as well take away that 10% fan vote contribution since it means absolutely nothing. DEI would've been much better received if they had put in the effort to engage in quality writing and discussion. Instead, what we're getting is superficial tokenism where a character is defined by a singular identity rather than as a whole. If a character is a member of the alphabet community, it should affect how they see the world and how the world sees them instead of letting their membership be their defining characteristic

Veilguard was actually an excellent game, apart from random cringe shoved in a few places. The world was beautiful and well designed. The main story and tie in to lore was surprisingly good. The combat was really fun and flexible. You could tune the difficulty and interface to your taste. And there were zero bugs anywhere. If they had cut that "lets all be nice" crap, and warned people it was a cinematic action game set in Thedas (and really light on rpg) then I think more people would have really enjoyed it. I went in with no expectation. I loved it, twice! Solid 8/10
