You guys need to upgrade your TV. People spend all this money on consoles but skimp on what is going to display it. How do you expect to see differences on a cheap screen or your phone. I have a 77' Sony A95L and I can absolutely see a difference from gaming on my base PS5 for the past few years

I wouldn't be surprised if half of the people complaining are watching it on their phone. I have a 55' C1 and you absolutely see a difference on it. I played Stellar Blade in Balanced mode on release but the Pro mode (the one with PSSR at 80fps) looks so crisp that it kinda looks like a bigger jump than the one we got from the PS4 to the PS4pro.

But for the 120hz mode on Playstation your TV needs a HDMI 2.1 But even without 120hz mode you should see a diffence just not in framerate. If I were you I didn't own a PS5 I would still go for the Pro because for me it is future proofing. The thing is I don't know your financial situation and you would pay 300+€ for the PS5pro without being able to use all it's power/features.

Pro Max on Stellar Blade is actually the worse option. It's native 4k at 50 FPS, but uses TAA. Regular Pro mode is 4K using PSSR and actually looks even better then Native and it runs at 80 FPS.

@JorRaptor Even in the case that you don't have a 120hz display, Pro Max runs at a 50 fps cap, where as the regular Pro mode is at 60 fps. They're just higher end versions of the original balanced and quality modes, so they inherit their original target ranges. 😃

I'd say it's worth it if a PS5 is your main console and you care about things like image quality. The 2TB SSD is also a very nice perk if you're still using a base 800gb launch PS5. I tried Star Wars outlaws on the pro, and while the image does still look a bit soft, it's a massive improvement over the base PS5 version.

I dont think a lot of game studios will do that tho. Maby Rockstar with GTA6 and Sony's first party studios but other than that I think we will only have ps5 pro enhanced for most AAA and I think most AA and indie games will only benefit from game boost.

I mean I'm sure a few of the newer ones had a chance during development to prepare for the pro. Sadly we won't see any games this gen that do much more than that since they have to make sure they can get them running well on base PS5 and Xbox. Don't imagine we'll get much more than an extra visual mode or two to make them look crisp or have better raytracing. Maybe when they eventually do away with PS4 game releases we'll get to a higher tier of gaming.

My wife and I just got one on black Friday. On our Hisense U7K 75” that we sit literally 5 feet away from the performance of the pro is far beyond what I was expecting. The Crew Motorfest went through a whole transformation it seams like in their pro update becoming one of the best looking and performing arcade racer out there. GT7 in VR2 blew my mind how they were able get on looking so good inside the headset. No more double blur! Looks and plays fantastic! The pro for us was so worth it!

Different dynamics back then. It's not really comparable. Although PS4 pro and Series X saw Significant boost to Graphics, they still had CPUs from 2011 mobile hardware. The Series X and Ps5 And Ps5 Pro are all still going to play newer games at 60 fps because of their somewhat decent Zen 2 cores.

Had my pro for a day now - pretty much spent the entire thing downloading all my games, fiddling the settings for best optimisation of performance vs graphics for each game and then doing the next when the next game downloads 🤣 I now have a stunning collection of stuff to play and having had a little mess around in each for about 20 mins - the improvements per game are very noticeable - some more framerate wise some more graphical wise and some have had a sharp increase in both

Got my PS5 pro yesterday, got to opening it today. It was DOA. Push power button and the blue light and fan would come on for about 2 seconds then shutdown. After speaking with 2 different Sony service techs and no luck it's back at FedEx on its way for exchange. Never had this happen on any console I've ever purchased

I have to say, i have not had much time to test as i am a parent and also work full time, but seriously - for anyone who says they cannot tell a difference?!?! Come onnnn!!! As a caveat I will say that in my humble opinion having the right kind of TV really helps - 4k,hdr,vrr etc - like e.g. Elden Ring - almost runs at 60fps now in performance mode, so the VRR helps cover that small gap.

You’re absolutely right. As more devs move to UE5 and comparably heavy engines and feature sets we’re going to continue to see poor image quality on base consoles. Especially in 60 fps mode. Monster Hunter Wilds looks terrible on base PS5, which has me nervous for RE9 as well. These are the games where the Pro will shine. And we’re going to be seeing a lot more of them in the tail end of the gen. I actually was impressed, more than I thought, by the Enhance PS4 Games setting. I tried games that looked pretty blurry before, like Arkham Knight, Evil Within 1, Dragon Age Inquisition, AC Unity, and a few others like them and it cleaned up the image a lot more than I was expecting. Not sure what’s going on there, but while it’s nowhere near a dev patch, it’s a lot better than nothing. The image now looks as clean as playing these on a 1080p screen at native resolution, and the added blur that comes stretching them onto a 4K screen is removed. For those who like these older games this is a pretty nice bonus honestly that I didn’t think I’d care about going into it. All in all I tested a bunch of games as well and walked away more impressed than I anticipated. It definitely delivers on the sales pitch and then some.

That does not change the fact the MHW at resolution mode on the OG PS5 looks much better than MH Wilds on ps5 pro! The devs are simply lazy and incompetent nowadays to begin with! You may be happy with your PS5 pro, which is perfectly fine, but it won't be for too long, unfortunately, considering how heavy, buggy, and unoptimized the new games are at release. As long as people keep throwing money at a new hw every year, the situation won't change and there wouldn't be a happy ending. If the PS6 costs $2000 at launch, I would be very happy, seriously. And please don't tell me that I'm envious or broke or I can't afford ps5 pro because you are far away from the truth.

Yep, sadly that's what happens when hardware becomes so advanced that devs can afford to be lazy and sloppy. Game devs of 80's, 90's and early 2000s had to almost perform witchcraft to make their games as optimized as possible.

I never played it on PS5 but did S/X and while it's not the worst and the framerates seemed to always be steady, graphically it was weak in either mode though. But the Performance mode alone on the Pro blows either of the old modes outta the water. Gotta love that!

I came here after watching Luke's video where he said he will do a live chat with you about PS5 pro Regardless of the price, the PS5 pro does have improvements for sure and its really clear in some of the games that you showed in there. Is it a necessity to buy it? If you already have the main one and have extra cash and your main hobby is gaming, then you would be upgrading. Its like switch versions, between lite and OLED and whatever other versions that exists, each of them have people that want it. You say all this yet to me as someone who’s been around since PS2 it’s the smallest leap yet. I remember Uncharted: Lost Legacy actually making me think “wow this looks impressive” on PS4 Pro. Playing any first party games especially let me down when I got it today. Spider-Man 2 was a very small upgrade. I was looking forward to this console a lot and so far nothing has made it feel worth the money, hopefully that changes. As of now though the PS4 Pro that cost 300 less than this was a more impressive jump and wasn’t anti-consumer with no disc drive. What a damn shame this is. We are at a point where devs can’t even max out a base model and we’re getting Pros to solve engines like UE5 being unacceptable image quality and CPU usage wise. Gaming is in such a bad place right now whether it’s dev time, lay offs, live service and obscenely expensive consoles that set the stage for next-gen.

Just played my favorite game Cyberpunk on the pro and it's insanely smooth and because of dynamic resolution it feels like its locked at 1800p now in the performance mode. It's so crisp. And tested my favorite Tomb Raider (2013) with the PS4 Boost mode it also looks significantly better 😍

The Mirage and Ragnarok pro patches were not out when you played it. There is only one mode and it’s 4k with pssr, better shadows and distance and they look outstanding. Try it again.

The price reveal for the Ps5 Pro was the last nail in the coffin for me. I can´t take Sony´s absurd prices any longer. The money i saved and which was originally intended to buy a Pro console has now been used to buy a new graphics card. I still use my old Ps5 from time to time but Sony managed it to bring me back to Pc gaming. That would be worth a trophy too 😅👍.

I love people complaining about the price :D But I would bet many are spending their money on soda instead of water, or on alcohol or cigarettes. I know how expensive cigraettes are since I used to smoke. I payed 220€+ a month on cigarettes till 2016 (toady it would be more than 300€). And I know people that are spending over 10 bucks on Starbucks every day instead of just making their coffee themself. So let me spend my money however I want. It doesn't affect your life in the slightest. And just a little tip if you are always leaving the month with +-0. First of all regulate your spendings but if your hobby is gaming then set aside 25 bucks a month for new gaming hardware that way you always can afford new hardware and that is how I do it for years just that I set aside 100 bucks.

Disc drive versions of games are cheaper because you can sell them when finished. With digital you just click on « delete ». Sony (and many others) prefer selling you new games and the will kill the second hand market

The pro is definitely worth if you own a high end tv. Sony knows it’s a niche area to whom it appeals To. Ones that can afford £700 price tag and £2000 plus oled TVs Having tested a few games on it myself. I have to say PSSR is still Very much in its infancy. It has severe issues with shadow details presenting at times a flickering and shimmering appearance. Resolution looks way sharper but I’m not sold on the ray tracing capabilities. I think it’s a county mile out to where it should be.

Im very happy with my purchase. I even tried out some PS4 games and it improved the look and feel. Resident Evil 2, A Plague Tale, etc. If Rockstar would uncap RDR2 that game would be even better. Horizon Zero Dawn on the Pro is a thing of beauty. Also FF16 runs much smoother even without a patch.

I knew I was in for a treat when I first fired it up and saw that splash screen. Only had a chance to play 1 game, so it's not a deep dive yet. It may not be a good investment if you don't have a 120hrz TV with vrr though
