Fully invested in the Sony ecosystem (77” A95L, STR-AZ7000ES, 7.2.4 living room setup with wireless SA-RS3 rears) and am very, very happy. The Acoustic Center Sync feature gets hate from people for potential timbre differences but honestly it’s mainly higher frequency sound coming from the TV (rest from center channel speaker). A95L speakers are actually not bad and the anchoring of sound to the center of the TV (tweeters point forward from middle third of TV) is spot on. I read an article that the A95L will get an update with Voice Zoom 3 which I’m looking forward to trying. Also, impressed by the new Sony backlight system, but for me, QD-OLED is plenty bright and won’t be changing TVs for a long, long time.

I got into Sony products back in 2021. Sony AVR, Core Series Speakers, and an X950H TV. Kept the TV and upgraded the rest. Purchased an A80J last year. It's such an awesome TV. Wish their speakers were more up to par but I get the business model they have going.

Finally, you have Sony products to review! I couldn't wait for your HT-A9 video and got it July, 2023 when it was heavily discounted. I also got lucky with my recent $200 certified SA-SW5 purchase when that was replaced with a brand new sealed unit when it came in DOA. Now, when you review the Bravia 7, 8 and 9, use them as center chanel with the Quad speakers if you can. I am curious to know your thoughts on whether this will improve the overall audio quality and/or surround sound effects. The Mini LED uses Acoustic Multi Audio 2.0/Audio+ 2.2.2 while Bravia 8 OLED has Acoustic Surface Audio 2.1. The carry-over 83" A80L OLED has 2.2 without tweeters. I think the OLEDs are superior since it vibrates the entire panel vs the questionable "front", side and upfiring 2.2.2 speakers system advertised on the Bravia 9. I would imagine you can physically locate all the speakers on the Mini LED TVs while you might only see the subwoofer on the OLED.
@ealanosborne7 ай бұрын
Yeah, that's one of the first things I want to check out is the Acoustic Center Sync in conjunction with whichever Bravia TV I'm getting. Supposedly these latest models have improved the timbre matching between the TV and Bravia Quad speaker system. Let's hope that's true!
@richlandzee86867 ай бұрын
@ealanosborne - Forgot to also mention the Dolby Atmos effects on the Quad! I thought my HT-A9 was pretty good even though I didn't get any Atmos verification on my HT-A9 when watching an Atmos movie on my Max app. Maybe it's because my 2019 X900F only supports DD+. The control box just flashes "Dolby Audio"+"360 Spacial Surround 48Hz". If the movie says Atmos, which component carries the Atmos metadata signal? The Max app, the TV or both? If the audio gets a downgrade from Atmos, what should the HT-A9/Quad control box say when playing the movie? I can confirm Dolby Atmos content on the speakers because I tested sample files through HDMI direct connect from my laptop.

Ealan, do you know, or can you ask your Sony representative when they are going to make larger size TV'S ? I keep sizing up. I currently have a 4 year old (Samsung) 82". I would to move up to an approximately 110" or at the minimum 100" + for my next TV. I do realize that a Sony flagship 110" would cost 2 or 3+ times the other brands current models. From early reports it maybe time (for me) to come back to Sony.

I have been holding off for a new large TV for quite some time. I had been waiting for Sony to release their flagship QD OLEDs in a 83" size. I ended up with the LG 42" OLED to hold me over for while. The Bravia 9 if its as good as advertised I may end up going the mini led flagship set. Will the fact that that the televisions are mini led will they be a little cheaper than their old OLED counterparts? or will we be paying the Sony Tax for the new processor? I have a older version of the "Bravia Theater U" and I actually like it a lot. Sometimes I don't want headphones on and the sound being directed at my ears is loud enough for me to know what's going on without really disturbing my family around me. Good stuff as always.

I still bought an 85" Z9K after Sony announced its 2024 lineup. The Z9K while 2 years old still has some features that are better then the Bravia 9 like 3 HDMI 2.1 and 85 Watt audio compared to 2 2.1 ports and 70 watt audio on Bravia 9. As far as Brightness the Z9 series were already known to hit 4000 nits. The Bravia 9 is advertised as the brightest 4K TV they ever made...but not the brightest TV they ever made 😉 And upscalling 4K content to nearly 8K is still impressive even though theres arent much native 8K content. So for me the Z9K was still better in a lot of ways then the Bravia 9. 🤔

After purchasing and living with the Samsung Q90C/Q990C for the past 6 months, and my constant researching of every tv/audio options out there, I’m 99.9999% sold on my next tv/setup will be a Sony Tv as the focal point! Samsung has been a let down after their 1402.5 software update as well as not being able to enjoy Dolby vision and more importantly DTS/DTS-X! According to the specs, the new Bravia tv will have wifi 6(ghz), built in atmos/7.1 decoder/DTS decoder, etc. Side note, the Q990C has DTS capability but I don’t think it can do the Netflix/imax enhanced, most of my viewing is thru streaming apps built in to tv. With discounts on TVs right now, for what I paid for the 65Q90C, I would be within a few hundred bucks for a 75/85” X90L, Sony 65” X93L etc I def cannot wait for when I’m ready to buy a tv for my future HT setup, def have Sony in front of the line based on everything I’ve learned so far! 🎉 Awesome video btw 🎉

One thing Sony has not got is still no centre speaker for wireless quad speaker setup. Listen to their customer's is what's needed. Centre speaker is the most important speaker, where all dialogue comes out of centre speaker, Sony should definitely know this. Using a Sony TV for centre is not good enough

Supposedly this Center Channel Sync with their newest TVs has been improved, so I’ll let you know if it’s a viable alternative to actually needing a center speaker. 🤞

Very gentlemanly of you to call out to Caleb. Indeed, the new Bravia lineup looks very intriguing to a long time Sony fanboy (first colour TV was a 27 or so inch Trinitron circa mid ‘70s, final was Trinitron XBR 32, CRT with separate detachable speakers - lift with your back, not your legs😂); almost too bad I pulled the trigger on an LG OLED a few months ago - but maybe my CC will still say, “thanks, Chris, we’re good” The Bravia Quad speaker system looks very cool; would be nice of the control module box allowed for interface to third party center speakers rather than those in select Sony models.

I am actually considering ditching surround sound for my gaming to just have the TV and the U neckband. Taking up all the space around my rooms is starting to not be worth it.. all the wires .. glitchy tech.. etc etc ..etc .. A neck band with a near-field subwoofer would be MORE than enough in 90% of my listening scenarios .. I'd rather invest into my 2 channel HiFi room.

There’s no way that audio is streaming 80Mbps. That’s the entire stream. If the audio datarate was that high it would be lossless+++. A lossless 7.1 PCM track at 24bit@96kHz is 18Mbps. The stream for audio and video can be up to 80Mbps meaning they could probably support lossless easily especially with the dts and Dolby codecs. But one caveat with Sony Pictures core currently is the high datarate version is locked to Bravia TV owners only. The PS5 version looks terrible by comparison. I’ve got fiber directly to the home with 1M/1M up/down. I can attest that the PS5 Sony Pictures video quality is terrible. I was hoping to use my PS5 to watch Gran Turismo on my JVC projector with a 7.2.4 setup. I stopped as soon as I could see the terrible picture quality on the 120-in screen.
