I learned on a Ka-Bar, and my best knife is a Spartan Blades Difensa. You best believe I bought one of these the second I could, and its fantastic.
@matthewy59964 жыл бұрын
I believe they are pull the dot buttons so you can only pull the release in one direction. When you pulled it apart from the side, it was in a “locked” position and you sheered off the entire button. I’d call the spartan shop! They’re great people and would love to get it sorted from what I understand and my experiences. Awesome review!

Hey, they are best of the best no lie. Look things happen once companies start growing errors come into the assembly line. Remember, this is a more affordable knife. I have seen and purchased some higher end Spartans and let me say this, worth every penny!! Stand out in my arsenal. Really don't need my other ones now. Also, this is why you should field test a knife before and inspect before taking it into the Field. If for combat, well then you need to be buying their top tier knives anyways. I mean, life or death their is no price point to me. Then again, I put my faith in Jesus Christ now and forever. Amen. God bless Bros and sisters

Not really but a fair thing to say that you’re paying over by $50 for same materials in any other brand, if you want to upgrade to Micarta scales you’re going to pay $50-$60 for those extra scales… also the Sog was like half the size of the spartan so there’s less overall material to charge for. Plus it’s not big enough to do the same chores that the Spartan can perform because of size and weight. the other K bar had plastic grips for god sake’s.
@B516084 жыл бұрын
two screws in the scales might make the grip come loose if the lanyard hole has no rivet tube ... and who needs a choil on such a short blade ?

Too bad about the straps, I liked the idea as it sits lower on the hip. Why I’m not a fan of tech locks on these sheaths...hopefully they can fix it and put it on the market separately as I have a number of polymer sheaths that I’d love to swap out for that lower profile carrying system.

According to ka bar, 1095 cro van is a steel that they developed/helped develop way back when as Sharon 170-06. Performance wise it's supposed to be tougher than regular 1095 and stay sharper longer. They eventually renamed it 1095 cro van because when they review the composition it's very similar to 1095 except with chrome and vanadium and a tiny amount of other stuff. I don't think it actually affects price that much compared to 1095, but I would place 1095 CV above regular 1095 in terms of value and ka bar has proved their prowess in the mark 2 which is like the most copied knife design in the world.

ive never been a fan of mechanical locks on sheaths, its a nice idea when it works but its also more parts to break. also idk why any company puts snaps on belt attachment loops, i would never feel comfortable with a sheath simply snapped over my belt, all it takes is for it to snag on something to undo those snaps and the knife is gone.

David Sharp Thanks David, yes I did find that the sk-5 versions with the hollow grind had a very thin tip. The new versions are saber grind and I think a little bit better. Well maybe not the pasaytin lite traveler its to good at what it does . But I do love them all . My Esee's ,Ontario's , k-bar's , and DPX gear heft 4 and a few more . Also I never really got my factory Daymsus sheath out of the box . I Get an Armatus Carry sheath made for everything . Really ,my opinion prolly dont count cause my Blackwater grizzly is my favorite fixed blade ever, a down for whatever blade . It's been stabbed all the way through a honda civic door full trim twice with no chips and still had a sharp tip. It Stays in the gun safe now cause I can't replace it . Lost an BW ursa 6 , so if the dpx gear heft 6 is ever in stock . I'll have more fixed blades. So , Yeah I have a knife problem.

I was excited for this but $200 1095? ...Way over priced (for me)...Esee 5 has more steel and w/ 3d scales and kydex is @ $150. And probably a comparable kabar/becker with custom handles will be cheaper and at least the sheath is reliable. I don't even mind injection moded rattles...tells me no blade dulling. Not judging anyone who can afford it and a new sheath or a mounting system...more power to ya! thanks for the review GT!
@timbo43744 жыл бұрын
I love the loo of it, and I have no problem with 1095, but the price is a bit high for that steel. The sheath breaking is very disappointing too. It would be easy to put a kydex drop leg mod on it, but at that price, you expect everything to be built sturdy. The price puts it squarely into competition with many other knives in a much better steel. That's the problem with making knives jointly with another company is..Ka-Bar needs to make money off it, Spartan needs to make money off it, and if done with a designer, he needs a cut too, so it tends to drive up the price. Damn shame, because I'd be all over it were it about 50-75 dollars cheaper.

Hey Aaron, how would you compare it against a utility/fighting knife like the Steel Will Darkangel in N690? @@gideonstactical sometimes MSRP is higher than retail value too. Either way I would never spend 200 dollars on a 1095 knife. But in my opinion for 130 its a very good product. Mostly because of the sheaths locking device. You talked about the snap breaking but I never use those anyway, I tie 550 through the loop holes and scout carry. I always throw away all the garbage rigamarole that comes with knives anyway, always cheap plastic crap. But the thumb lock is what sets this one apart. Most people i know spend 100 bucks on a good knife and then spend 60 bucks custom ordering a kydex sheath for it (without a lock) because all knife manufacturers provide garbage sheaths. This one in my experience is on par with other 100 dollar knives but for 30 dollars more than those it comes with a very nice slim sheath with a thumb lock.
