5:11 at this moment dreams died...lol Dirt substrate is supposed to be poured first and then filled up really really slow to avoid muddy water. You should check out Dustin fishtanks! He loves dirted tanks and he set up a tank similar to yours recently.

Fluval stratum doesn't get a rinse like others do because you'll wash out the minerals it provides. A filter will clear up the water in a few hours. c:

Omg, it’s beautiful! Awesome job, Kayla! I would just recommend not ever using a hang on back filter with that substrate, because the stuff in the substrate for the plants will totally destroy it.

Test with shrimp, i put ghost shrimp in my bettas 10 gallon and he saw them going in and left them alone immediately so then i added a little school of neon tetra and he was perfectly fine with them, i eventually moved the neons to a different tank and tested a female betta in with him and they’re a happy couple

I need to redo my bettas tanks. To start with I put gravel and plants in their tanks that matched the color of the fish. I thought it would make them feel safe and happy. Now I am really liking the look of the drift wood and rocks.

Easiest way to rinse any substrate, fill a 5 gallon a quarter of the way and put it on a flat surface outside and just run a hose through it letting the water overflow for a few minutes then empty the water and repeat until the water is clear when filling it up

the substrate you bought can be rinsed and have clear water. You just put it in a strainer and have a gentle stream of water flow from the tap until the water that come out is clear. Life with pets showed how to do it in one of her videos

The betta has what's called a jumping gene, every other betta will only change in their juvenile stage whereas this one can change at any point as many times as it wants throughout it's life

Instead of getting a fish tank background you can go to the craft store and get a black posterboard and that can work as a black background and you just have to cut it to size and tape it on
