SPECTRUM SMART is on ANOTHER LEVEL. GREAT TECHNOLOGY. Making our hobby life MORE SAFE& EASYER. I Think it is GREAT and WORTH the extra cost. The batteries hold up great and with the telmentry back to the Transmiter it's PERFECT.👍♥️🤩

I like the look of the gen one better but I have to agree on the fact buttons are better then a slider. Thanks air Marshall. Not much difference screen looks smaller though
@TheRCAirMarshall4 жыл бұрын
Screen is the same size, charger is just physically larger to jam a big fat 400W power supply inside there! 😁

Any word on how the G2's will be updated and also do they have any plans for a DC version? I'm lucky enough to have power at my field but I know there are many who need to charge off their car batteries. Just curious. Great review Dave!
@TheRCAirMarshall4 жыл бұрын
The G2 chargers will get updated via the Micro USB port. Not sure about DC versions at the moment. But there is definitely more awesome things on the way!
@jerrywillfong57704 жыл бұрын
Of course just ordered a G1 AC charger. Guess with the update it charges everything.
@TheRCAirMarshall4 жыл бұрын
Yessir, the G1 chargers (S1100, 1200, 1500, 2100) with the G2 update will all charge the G2 batteries no problem.

very very nice review. It still shocks me how most folks seem to only charge at 1c. I do 2c almost always. but yeah faster is nicer when your at the field and want to fly. BTW what show you going to be on tonight and what time? my memory stinks.

Any ideas why the new batteries default to storage voltage of 3.9 volts?? I love that they come by default with 72 hours until it will go into storage, just not sure the reasoning behind the 3.9v
@TheRCAirMarshall4 жыл бұрын
No idea, I changed all of mine to 3.80. I also thought 3.9 was a little too high
@jordandoell4 жыл бұрын
Ya at least it’s super easy to change 👍, just would have been nice not to have to touch it at all now that they default the auto storage nicely ☺️

The device limits to a 5C charge...? While that’s awesome for safety, that sounds like I can only charge four 3S/4S size batteries at 1.25C on one side and another four on the other side? I was hoping to be able to jack up the amperage to 20A so I could get almost 2C parallel board charging on my 2200 packs, decreasing in rate to 1.25 on my 4000 packs. Now I’m thinking that I should I limit myself to 2 and 2 at 8.8A for 2200 packs to get 2C each and 16A for 4000 packs? This would also align with the current 2C programmed charge settings.
@TheRCAirMarshall4 жыл бұрын
The 5C limit is only for SMART batteries. For non smart batteries you can use whatever current you want, just be safe. 👍

I guess these new batteries limit who can buy them. I prefer my 1000w 30a charger because I drive cars, boats, planes, and FPV so I need the flexibility. I guess I have to stay with your Gen 1 packs even though I upgraded to smart ESC's on my vehicles and I cant use your new battery. Im a bit disappointed TBH. Is the balance lead the only difference with these batteries?
@TheRCAirMarshall4 жыл бұрын
The balance lead going away is one of a few differences. Really the only thing they have in common is the cells. Still the same great cells being used in the Gen 1 packs. The new G2 batteries have improved heat dissipation plates, improved smart chips with more powerful balancing capability and faster auto discharge. The smart chips now have upgradable firmware so in the event changes are made they can be updated to the new standards. There were a lot of improvements made. I agree, I would like to see a balance lead still there, but that’s more for folks who want to use the G2 packs that don’t have smart chargers like yourself. For people who only have smart chargers like myself, there’s only a handful of applications where the balance lead is truly useful, as I sometimes use it to power external devices. With that said, in my quads and surface vehicles where I have torn off lord knows how many balance leads, I’m kinda glad they’re gone...
@bansheerider6194 жыл бұрын
@@TheRCAirMarshall Its just the fact they are only compatible with one charger due to no balance lead. I actually dont care the balance lead is gone. I just cant buy a new charger which means I cant use the new batteries.
@radrich2273 жыл бұрын
I bet there's a firmware out there that would allow you to use both ports and charge two batteries at 200W each.
@TheRCAirMarshall3 жыл бұрын
Not so sure... I have to assume the the ports for any given channel are wired in parallel.

Yeah, these chargers are bad to the bone. A big step up from the S1100 and S2100. BIG.

Hey Air Marshall....I just got this charger and I am only able to charge a 6s 5000 G2 battery at 9.3 amps max....any thoughts?
@TheRCAirMarshall3 жыл бұрын
That’s interesting. You should be able to charge that pack up to 5C, or 25A. Now the max you can get from a 400W charger on a 6S pack is going to be closer to 18A. Are you sure you got the S1400 charger and not the S1200? The S1200 is going to peak around 9A on a 6S pack.
@rcflyboy22353 жыл бұрын
@@TheRCAirMarshall thanks for responding....lol its the S1400 I was upgrading from the S1200 😮
@TheRCAirMarshall3 жыл бұрын
Sorry, hah. Had to ask. You should be able to get 18A on a 6S pack.
