Courtney sounds pissed!! Spiritbox does whatever they want and I love that we get so much variety from them. My favorite modern metal band for sure.

Courtney mentioned in an interview that they were working on their 2nd album, and it would come out at the end of the year. So, my guess is this is going to be from the new album.

Production on the vocals (and overall) made up for the structure/themes feeling more predictable. It scratches a very specific itch instead of many and I am here for it, especially with the axe to the face line ‘You all deserve each other’.

I stepped away from the genre for a long time, basically once I graduated high school. I came back a decade later to bands like bad omen and sleep token and wondered what happened to genre until a friend told me about Spiritbox and I fell in love. Spiritbox and Currents are easily my 2 favorite bands at the moment. I'm really digging this song, and I'm really stoked to hear their second album.

Not to be that person, but your posts have like 10 plays. Not sure if I'm going to trust your opinion on this one, sorry. Honestly, this sounds like a diss track that isn't specific enough to sound like it's not just manufactured anger. To make it chaotic sounding and genuine, Mike changes his riffing, but it still seems forced and kind of uninteresting 🤷

In a way by the lyrics, it can looked at as a call out to the old guard. Maybe reflecting to the grammy snub with fans good with old reliable (Metallica) instead of change and adapting giving the future sounds a chance. Then there's society as a whole you see being cowards and having "Soft Spines" hiding behind injustices. Instead of standing up to whomever's referred to as 'The King' (regicide), that can be any number of things that has a sickening following.

Honestly, I felt ALMOST the same. The only thing that brought it down for me that extra peg was something you criticize Imminence for (yeah, I AM calling it out here): saying the name of the song in the chorus. Saying the name SEVEN times. If I hear it 2-3 times, maybe 4. Ok. They wrote the song and named it what they named it for a reason. The ONLY reason it makes sense to say it 7 times? The song is pretty forgettable and lacks the dynamic that gives Courtney's vocals their power in other heavy songs. This was pretty monotonous, and aside from some slightly different riffing, the instrumentals were just average too. 6.8

Man, another little 3 minute, simple sounding pure metalcore thing that doesn't really leave an impact on first listen. I was under the impression that they were going to be proggy again with their next album, I hope this isn't the style for every track. It just doesn't do enough for me, compared to something like the new single Opeth put out on the same day that had me bobbing my head even though it's weird and not very metal.
