You guys are awesome fishermen. I am a lobster and spear fisherman too. I learned from Virgin Island veteran local fishermen, how to snare lobster with a $2 home made snare. You will snare lobster 75% easier and faster and save you time and air! It also fits on your back beside your tank so it’s not even noticeable until you need it just reach back and grab it. All you need is a flexible piece of stainless wire, the same thickness as tie wire. It is shapeable but rarely breaks. Use it on the end of a driveway reflector rod or a 1/4 inch piece of PVC cut about two feet long, and is all you need. Make a coil on one end of the wire (just a diameter big enough for the wire to run through easily) and run the wire back through the coil. The wire should be about 24-26” long overall. and attach the other end to a drilled hole in the end of your pvc or rod. You can shape the wire big, small oblong or whatever to fit the lobster or the size of the cave or hole. This will make your lobster snaring life sooooo much easier. You’ll never miss another lobster. Here’s a video of me and my partner snagging a 5 pounder in St Croix with one, although the pole in this video is too big. The rod or 1/4” pvc is better. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nnvYnqqrnsuCf5Ifeature=shared

Thanks for the information. I have multiple snares. In fact I spent a couple weeks on St Thomas and St. John over Christmas this past year snaring lobster and collecting channel crabs. Had a great time. Here the economy value of lobster compared to grouper and hogfish put them way down on my list of targets most of the year. I don’t eat them here. The ones in the islands were much better tasting .

@ I agree 100%. I prefer Spanish lobsters or slipper/ chub lobster. To eat Caribbean lobster I have to add sugar just to take away the bitterness of the meat. Yeah lobster inSTX goes live for $15 a pound.

Honestly bro what you do is my dream man, like how do i even get into this. Do you always need mixed air to dive that deep ?
@ThatsStillUs11 күн бұрын
No on the mixed air. You can dive to 220’ on atmospheric air (20.9%). All my dives are less than 180’. Mixed air (nitrox) allows for extended dive times and improves recovery and physical wellbeing.

Yea I want to get out for wahoo but no one ever wants to be the guy in the boat.

Where I’m from it’s illegal to spear fish or take lobster using scuba. Lobster must be taken by hand. Too easy with tanks. Free dive. It’s free🎉
