The empire history sounds pretty cool for a feature. Also the notification system not showing up with as many icons I need to clear up might help out as a new player. I think I should be able to change the rare resource notifications to be those icon notifications instead of the corner alerts though, as the resources appear quite important for the future of my empire.

@MatthewCenance much less than they used to be, often you have events offering trades for them, or they are in mines and gathered before you have the tech you uses to need. They made it easier for the AI to make strategic resources from 3.0 and seem to take it further. I used to buy as much as I could from the trade enclaves to stockpile value as the synthetic output was very low.

It would be very risky to redevelop Stellaris and sell it as a new game like City Skylines 2, rather than evolve, improving the engine, script and keep people playing and buying the new content.

5:44 I would say you want a multiplicative cost for consecutive use like first one free, second one 100, third one 200 and keeps going up but add a cost cooldown like after every use there is a timer (x amount of days) timer reset after every use but once it's done it resets the cost back to 0 cost. prevents excess spamming but doesn't restrict you to like a small amount per cooldown as well as the cost doesn't stay high forever.

What i would Love that Stellaris would do is to put Origins into 2 Kategories which you choose one of each that are... Species Living Conditions like all the Different Planet Start Origins like Machine World // Ocean Paradise and so on... and the Other Part would be Species Playstyle like Clone Army Progenitor Hive and so on... for Example... Having a Progenitor Hive living on a Ocean Paradise or having a Clone Army living on Habitats... it would Open up so much Interesting Builds.. which yes are or can be Powerful but it also would give the Game alot more Interesting ways to make your own Empires

I think for Dream Loop / The Ruined Cradle event as part of that new Hard Reset Origin that the ruins of the pre-FTL civilisation are actually the ruins of your civilisation. It seems like you start as a reverse machine uprising, having been taken and cybernetically enhanced on one of their planets, and when you rebel and fight they basically nuke the everliving hell out of your planet as they realise they can't beat the combat cyborgs they build to do all their fighting. Also explains the radiation signal coming from the planet in the previous event window. Just my take, super interesting and potentially challenging sounding Origin though.

there used to be three type of FTL like wormhole, hyperlane and warp drive before developer axe them to only hyperlane drive FTL then there used tile system on planet where each pop work on said tile witht he maximum 25 tile being available at 25 size planet, and then they remove tile replacing it with district. now we got population rework as well instead of 1 pop per building we got multiple pop as strata instead, time sure fly i guess.

What would work in managing a plantet? Bars. Just like the og Master of Orion. At any time you change the focus among: 1. production 2. defense 3. research 4. population growth 5. planet maintenance (by cleaning industrial waste) There are pops. Their numbers multiply the aforementioned bars. And can invade other planets.

Im only 1 achievement left but its not an rng one so the no more iron man doest really affect that. It will be easier for you to try and get clash of the titans to actually count if u can save right before. I think i had to load someone else's save file off the forums in an older version of the game cus it wasn't bugged in an earlier version.

I’m not a fan of the focuses. I don’t mind having a system where things to do are suggested to new players but I don’t like them putting techs or something as rewards. I feel like that kinda railroads you into playing a certain way and doesn’t let you customize your empire as much as

@ it’s not as bad but I still don’t like anything that feels like it restricts you. I think randomness is an important part of the game. And your example with rushing arc furnaces means it kinda makes the arc welders origin worse if it’s easier to get otherwise. I also don’t think those three paths cover enough. It makes things like unity rushing or being super diplomatic worse imo

Out of all the changes coming, the ones I’m scared of with my 3,100+ hours of gameplay would be the changes to trade and the adding of logistics. Those are going to fundamentally change the game’s economy by a lot and likely make it harder to fight the AI, as they only need to take a choke that blocks off resources and then wait as your empire begins to crumble.

I hope this is a breath of fresh air for the game. I love stellaris, but it seems to be the same through out most games, especially when you enjoy a certain play style. I am hoping that if they implement these changes correctly each game will feel more unique and streamlined.

I'm concerned with the small unity cost to switch focuses. If I'm min maxing, focus rushing to say lock out tech options to get arch furnaces as you said, could I just spam through all the available focuses, switch when i cant do them, and get a bunch to techs guaranteed? Seems like a... new way to play, at least.

for galaxy generation i was thinking i don't have any problem with that, with the options we are given it usually comes out good, or i find the problem quick (besides getting the wrong precursor, which is already addressed) so i tuned out a bit, then realized one of my bigger annoyances is why do i always start right next to the fallen empire?????? why?!? would love an option for them to be far away, they can even contact me in 2250 if i don't' find them, i don't' care, but i really don't want to always start with them right next to me.

Speaking of which, I managed to get some DLC but not all, which do you think I should get for now, Grand Archive, Machine age, Overlord, Cosmic Storms, Federations, Galactic Paragons, or Astral Planes?

I think Nemesis is good, especially in multiplayer. Federations, too... Astral Planes seems more of a story DLC, which don't get me wrong, I enjoy, but can easily be dropped.

Even the most peaceful empire wants starholds, destroyers and cruisers. The hostile militarist empires have an edge, until economy and tech leaves them behind. Trading empires want vassals too and it's the belligerents who are a PITA early game who make the best candidates for partition, they may even be taunted into declaring war unwisely.

Exactly what I was thinking. I usually focus heavily on development and keep to myself most games, but I also always take supremacy and build up a huge fleet to defend myself and my interests throughout the game

@azazelreeds right it's a question of founding that strength on tech & economy, it's very annoying if a hostile forces premature fleet building but a war tends to be worse. Playing on huge, you mostly can expand without early contact but sometimes empire capitals are just 3 hops distant and most likely they'll be hostile and uncooperative.

I hope you can switch off some of these features, I’m not liking the direction this game is going which is shame, I’ve played over 3500 hours, and enjoyed most patches and dlc. I don’t what direction in what to do, for me stellaris is canvas for me to create whatever I like.

@ for me it’s the empire focuses, I can understand it’s there to help new players etc which is important as stellaris has many complicated mechanics but it’s not something I want to deal with or invest in. I really enjoy this game but they are adding things which for me don’t add value to gameplay, for example I didn’t enjoy the storm dlc, most of the time I switch them off. Love your content btw :)

@@hebbu10except it was 2.2 Megacorp where pops were introduced, I think they had Ascension and hyperlane galaxy to make the warring more strategic first but pops followed on.

The developers want a break, so no early DLC and make deep underlying changes. Similarly they're calling for play testing in an open beta, so drawing a line and calling it 4.0 makes sense.
