I saw the walk behind in the booth and was impressed with the build, but I didn't flip it over. Love the idea of the polymer liner to protect the deck from sandy soils. I presume the liner can be replaced if needed? And the unique blade design which negates engine damage in case you strike something immovable. Replacing the adapter and blade is much cheaper than re-powering with a new engine. And less downtime too. Not to mention the mono handle design. I figured it was for ease of handling the bagger. Iam a long time Stihl user. I sold all my gas Stihl equipment this summer and replaced it with battery power. Push mower -amazing, trimmer-meh..., hand held blower -amazing, Hedge trimmer-amazing, chain saw-meh... Big jobs still need gas. Overall I am happy.

Great video Brian. Nice review of the new Stihl line. Their innovation funnel seems very full. Great to see all the options. I just love reading all of these ignorant comments from those against battery power. Same with EV reviews. Never ceases to amaze me. It’s great to have both options, period.

I will say that push mower looks interesting, several good ideas. They need one in a 30-32" with a strong transmission to pull it along.

These have been sold in Europe and the UK for many years both in Stihl and previous lawncare division of Stihl Viking. They do seem to be durable enough, but most contractors and local authorities here in the UK will choose Honda 21" aluminium deck or Japanese built Kaaz 21" mowers because of the blade brake clutch system, shaft driven transmission and the Honda engine.

What are your thoughts on the Husqvarna Xcite line (zero turn)? Is it worth having pto switch and ignition on the controls? Is this something that would actually come in handy?

Stihl own a stake in the Globe Group who own Greenworks and build a lot of machines and battery tech for other manufacturers including Toro and Briggs and Stratton. Its probably cheaper for them to outsource than build in house. I know stihl build the hand power tools sold globally, the battery walk behind mowers sold here in the UK and Europe and they build their AS, AK and AP batteries and some of their battery chargers.

Those walk behind mowers have only just reached your shores. They have been sold in the UK and Europe for many years (hence the 2000hrs testing) not a bad machine but not as popular as some of the other brands sold here in the UK like Honda HRD, HRH 21" aluminium deck mowers and Kaaz 21" aluminium deck mowers which use the old honda design mower and are built in Japan (Honda's mowers are built in France). Both have shaft drive transmission and easy to use controls. A decent mower if they brought it over to you guys in the USA would be the RM 4 series mulching mowers.

@James-lo5ne I couldn't believe it when Honda said they were pulling out of America. In the UK and Europe it is slightly different as they have technically a larger range of mowers including ride on mowers and all the factories are mainly in Europe. The other brand I mentioned called Kaaz is a Japanese built mower and looks pretty much like the older designed Honda aluminium deck mowers. The Kaaz machines are also supplied to other manufacturers who stick their brand onto them and sell them as one of their models, Lawnflite is one of those that use their name to re brand them.

Good stuff. Only concern with the push mower. With not deep of a deck on it. How will it do in the real word cutting applications. Compaired to the scag sfc21 with the same engine but a supper deep deck. That mower is almost unstoppable. Yet cutting is extreamly well. Granite, they slapped the kohler 224 on it at 11 ft-t witch that engine is a tank as it is on the stihl. So kinda Defeats the porpoise you know. A strong mower on anything can make a mower cut really good with a good blade.

Some are in certain aspects, absolutely. But are any there yet 100% with cost of ownership for our demands and run time? That’s yet to be seen. I will say this, the 8kw battery (I think?) on these STIHL units though is actually a lot of juice, so I’m impressed in that regard!

Is there anyone that owns a billy goat push blower experiencing stress cracks in the plastic orange housing? My blower is a few years old, im the only operator and always baby my equipment.. just noticed 5-6 stress cracks. I’m debating if I should get a little wonder in the future.

​@@jus_des96Electric is fine for where small amounts of power are needed, such as some electronics. It's stupid for a car or riding mower or a chainsaw, as the batteries have to be huge, and they're a fire hazard. Last year a zero turn caught fire at GIE and they had to bury it; water wouldn't keep it put it out. Also, mining materials for batteries is worse for the environment than just burning gas or diesel fuel.

Walk by the Greenworks booth and look at their zero turns. Then walk by the Stihl booth again. See if you can tell any differences aside from color. 🙄 Stihl acting like they have something earth shattering 🤦🏻‍♂️ those battery units look like they ride tougher than a log truck

Stihl have 20% stake in the Globe Group who build the Greenworks battery mowers. Those gas walk behind mowers aren't new either as they have been on sale in Europe and the UK for many years.

Whats the replacement cost of these environmentally destroying energy sources? What about the human cost of forced labor these authoritarian regimes use to mine these elements? I’ll stick with the internal combustion engines.
