I got the MS290 farmboss with 18"bar, ive had it for 6 year's and cuts mesquite like butter, that's a real nice one too enjoy it

I missed out on a great deal on a MS290 or MS291. The guy was selling the power head alone and I had the bar and chain for it already. I actually was on my way to Las Vegas so before boarding the airplane decided to make a pit stop and gamble a few bucks locally. I went to a local dealer since i knew I was gonna loose my money gambling in Vegas.

I have the ms250, (16 inch) and I love it! It's a really nice saw!
@cutweldngrind8 жыл бұрын
They are fantastic saws. I been using my ms271 about 2 or 3 times per week. I been clearing small brush which a ms180 would of been enough.

Bar leaks oil at the matting surface to the saw?? Is my bar wore to much?? Cleaned the saw and bar with no luck, have you had a problem in this area??

Ms 271

This may sound wrong but I think his bar oiler isnt oiling. look at the dust on chain. Turn oiler up use correct oil and yes that should go right thru.
@andrr9634 Жыл бұрын
He needs chain maintenance like as in sharp cutters and proper raker adjustment. I have Ms 180 which is smaller saw and it honestly would out cut the 250 with a smaller pitch chain.

What was wrong with the 259 at the end, sound like hanging idle
@Trump2024Kentucky3 жыл бұрын
About 10 seconds on the new larger 271 and about 17 on the smaller older 250. Both did well however.

I gave my father the MS250 and I kept my MS271. The power on the 271 is awesome but does get heavy. I think I will be placing a smaller bar on it as well. I Stihl own 5 Stihl products and they have really worked great. I did a rebuild on my demolition TS400 saw and that's a power house. Thanks for watching.

I'm grabbing a ms271 tomorrow on sale 😄 my buddy just got the ms250 and putting it to the test now.
@cutweldngrind7 жыл бұрын
Ontario Backwoods Outfitters The 271 is just a work horse. I dont have big trees here on my land but it does feel heavy when just trimming branchs all day. I would recommend this ms271 over the ms250 or ms251.
@solocamq32 Жыл бұрын
Apparently a lot of people saying how dull the chains are have never cut seasoned mesquite wood,I have cut a lot of it for smoking wood,if cut a live tree its not bad,but a dead one is about like cutting Bois d’arc,and very hard on chains.
@cutweldngrind Жыл бұрын
I cant remember the condition of the chain on my 250 but believe it had a handful of cuts on thin mesquites. I ended up giving the MS250 away and never got to do a rematch between them. I have been wanting to add a shorter bar on the ms271 but do miss the MS250 when I have to carry this saw all day.
@kristobin88933 жыл бұрын
Sharpen your chain dude, them saws should cut threw alot faster then that, sawdust is literally dust no big chunks at all.
@cutweldngrind3 жыл бұрын
The 250 had a new chain but not sure what brand. The wood I was cutting was Mesquite which is hard wood so not sure how fast it would cut other wood. I now only use the 271

Chain on the 250 had only cut a few pieces before video. I dont recall the brand of chain or specs of it. The 250 is perfect in size and weight for me. The 271 gets heavy after a few minutes. Thanks

My first saw is ms250 was stolen from my storage and bought another one same model. heard it is a DIY saw and yes I rarely use it.

My first Stihl saw was the demolition TS420 and then I bought me a used ms250. The 250 was given to my father and he had it checked out and tuned and its working great. The 250 is a perfect saw for me, the ms271 is powerful but my arms get tired. I also use Stihl fuel in mine but does get expensive compared to mixing my own. Gasoline is not the same these days.
@cutweldngrind8 жыл бұрын
MS271 is a new saw and the MS250 is a used saw I had laying around. I want to sharpen up the chain or buy a new chain for the MS250 and do a comparison video.

The ms271 is a heavier saw but its powerful. I bought this saw new before my flight to Las Vegas as I knew I was gonna lose my money. Great saw to own.

LONEWOLF both are awesome. I enjoy the FarmBoss but does get heavy. The Ms250 is a saw I recommend since its not to heavy and has enough power for most household trimming jobs.

Jorge Serna Yea my 250 does a great job man. It'll eat it up all day long. Usually makes quick work of what i need to get done. Plus its just fun to cut up stuff lol.

Yes I dont own a stihl But came accross a deal on stihl chains so I bought and will put to the test. I think the cheapest chain to buy seriously is a 72(3/8) x.050x72DL Thats like 20 in 3/8 husq,jonsered,dolmar,makita. Look on Ebay but dont use your phone or that floating blue icon will drive you to a rubber room. Type in 72LGX072G u will see prices that blow your mind.

Rubber room? Lol... I saved that item in my watchlist. I might pick me up a 5 pack. Thanks again.

I looked at a new ms 250 that is on sale now for 299. I know this guy that is selling 2 ms261 professional grade for 300 bucks a piece. So if they are in a good shape I might go with used ms261

I was to excited that day because it was something I bought before heading to Vegas to lose 4k. I have not made any adjustments to it and haven't used it in a year or so. The next time I use it I will check it out or at least pay a little more attention to it. Thanks for the heads up.

I was a professional mechanic for yrs so when stihl says our chains are prestretched. Put one on snug and rev it or cut about an 18 in log then see if chain hanging down. If it is stihl is voting for Biden I just know it!!! I worked around motorcycles and one of the best motorcycle mechanic told me on a bike when chain is loose it rides high wearing out your sprockets aka rim.I always keep my eye on chains now. ou cant beat www.loggerchain.com

I bought a Stihl chain for the Ms271 during a storm we had to help clean up. I dont cut much but will keep an eye out. Thanks for the tips.
@g.d.76294 жыл бұрын
Yes chains way more DULL than my life, no doubt. You dont have to buy stihl chains and believe their propaganda try oregon BPX semi chisel Think LPX full chisel will dull quicker for you. If bars are .063 will be 22BPX 068 or whatever amount of links .058 is 21BPX -whatever
@cutweldngrind4 жыл бұрын
The chain and bar are new on the 250 but I ended putting a new Stihl chain off Ebay. I usually get the Stihl as I hardly do any cutting. I can probably cut all the trees on my 8 acres in a day so basically just use them during storms. I will check out those chains out you mentioned.
@jasonhaan34674 жыл бұрын
I like both stihl and Oregon chains just keep both sharp However my 250 would eat that much faster
