Here I talk about some of the abandoned story details for the Jurassic Park animated series that would've been released with The Lost World. This show was described as an X-files style event that featured bio-weapons akin to Resident Evil more than the first two movies. Hope you all enjoy! :D

I swear, the 90s was the ultimate perfect time for Amblin and Universal to branch the series out into TV animation and by now would have been a cult classic, even with the Doomsday Rex (despite the massive DC flashbacks that name gives me). I hope DreamWorks/Netflix series can live up to its potential and we can see more TV extensions of the series, even ones set during the 90s.

Even the music you chose for this video has that eerie, creepy feel to it that "this could've been a thing". I agree with you on the "I like the Animal/Paleontology and the Genetics/Biology parts of jurassic park". Spot on Klayton! I always felt that yeah jurassic park, even the novels, dealt with more of a Genetic aspect, more of a "the limits and ethics of technology" side of things. Michael Crichton was a science fiction writer after all. Kinda. I know some people consider most of his works techno-thrillers but anyway. Awesome video Klayton! I am a big nerd for these "failed projects/curiosities" in franchises/series I like. I find it so fascinating.

Some of the designs remind me a lot of the creatures from Dino Crisis 3. While pretty cool and intriguing concepts, I don't feel that those designs would have been appropriate for Jurassic Park. The way that the JW trilogy & its tie-ins have been handling their hybrids feels more authentic and grounded in that universe, vs they more "alien"-esque qualities of the cancelled animated series. And what's also cool is that the designs of several of the Chaos Effect creatures feel like they could still easily fit into the same universe as Jurassic World. The biology and anatomy of creatures like Velocirapteryx, Paradeinonychus, and even the Ultimasaurus itself, for me anyway, still feel more grounded in biology and the "reality" established in the Jurassic Park/World film universe rather than the other cancelled animated series from the 90's.

Crichton did mention something that . Cause I remember in the novels that Henry wu did have some plans for the dinosaurs. But even though they escaped the island and arrived on the mainland . After isla nublar was destroyed and blown up Ingen kept isla Sorna site b as a secret from the government. So I think this connects to Paul zindels raptor May have a theory . A mutant dinosaur lose in Utah is probably Henry wu’s creation and probably escaped from isla nublar . I think Paul zindels raptor is more closer to Jurassic Park and Jurassic world

Hey Klayton thank you for all your amazing videos about the JP franchise ! I am kinda glad we didn't had this "cerberus rex" I have to admit. I just watched Fallen Kingdom again and had two reflexions I wanted to share. First, do we have any information about why the pterosaurs of Jurassic World were staying on Nublar ? It seems pretty hard to believe that even if they are roaming freely the island skies they wouldn not leave Nublar until the Miles raid and Mount Sibo blowout. Secondly, really, poor Rexie. Created in captivity, Nedry's act will set her free when the park will disappear just to be catch captive again for JW. The Indominus disaster give her her freedom back - I loved the final images of Rexie roaring free at the end of Jurassic World - and here comes Miles and his auction, making our favourite tyranosaurus a purchasable item trapped in a cage. Thanks to Maisie she got free again but dropped in a very unfamiliar world. I really wonder what will happen to Rexie, Blue and all the free roaming dinosaurs in Dominion. Cheers !

That is so ironic, bc I luv the X Files and JP and a long time ago I was working on a "faithful" X Files fanfiction series. The first book would follow Mulder and Scully who'd look onto the death of a police officer who wrote "Night Raptor" in his own blood before dying. Mulder would get attacked by these things and would narrowly avoid death. Afterwards, he finds an old blind psychic who could see through the eyes of the mysterious "Night Raptors." Mulder would get him to agree to a hypnosis in which he'd mention a vague underground facility. Mulder and scully would then head into the woods where they'd find the bunker deserted. Once inside, Scully would find files pertaining to a program to create genetically engineered velociraptors. Why these things were created was going to be part of the overarching mythology. They'd find out that two were alive and would use the help of the blind psychic to find out where the raptors were. Once they were killed, government agents would quaritine and area to "cleanse" it. In the final scene, a raptor egg outside the area would be shone cracking.

It's kind of crazy to think that with all these ideas for several canned animated series would go to a different direction of adding some genetic dinosaur abominations and an X-files conspiracy type story being planned. If this story and The Lost World animated series came to light on television, we'll be looking at a very different timeline of the Jurassic Park franchise. Plus, several of the ideas of the military involvement, black market, and dinosaur bioweapons would be recycled for Jurassic World and Fallen Kingdom is kind of mindblowing to me.

Thanks for giving us the new insights on the series! I do want to say I think there is a divide between the movies and the rest of the franchise. The movies almost always depict the dinosaurs as real animals, and the rest of the franchise tends to go the ‘crazy hybrids’ angle. While both have coexisted for a long time- and I do like both- they definitely clash tonally. So when someone who only knows the movies sees things from the crazy extraneous material (like hybrids), I completely understand, and in some ways agree with, the sentiment that it’s not ‘Jurassic Park’, because, well, it isn’t. It’s not something that belongs in the approach of *the movie*. It’s from a completely different take on the franchise.

I would honestly love for this idea to be toyed around in maybe a tv series or video game. Of course keep the Jurassic park feel with the dinosaurs and emphasis on survival, but add the sense of mystery and the why or whos/questions that makes jurassic park not only a book about dinos on an island, but the morality and ethics of genetic cloning and the failure of humanity to know and accept that everything was never in their control to begin with. I know dino crisis is a thing, but i would love for a series that explores and toys with the idea of man making dinosaurs for selfish reasons and screwing everyone over not with dinosaurs loose and about, but the humans either killing each other or betraying each other and treating the entire project they created as a business.

As a kid, I would have hated JP if this strange hybrid stuff was released. Also, I would have hated the "Jurassic Parkoween" gimmick as a kid. In fact, I somehow had the idea that JP was just another strange series of horror/shock/thriller movies until I saw the first two movies and read the books. Growing up, I watched animal documentaries and wanted to see realistic dinosaurs behaving naturally. JP III was too much for me, never mind the bizarre ideas in these scrapped animated movies and scripts.

I will admit I was one of those guy that would scoff at the idea of the doomsday rex. However thanks your videos I'm keeping my mind open to your research, which I love and appreciate. However one thing in would like to ask is, the telltale Jurassic park game, apparently there was suppose to be a fifth episode. would you work your magic and see about digging up any info on what would've happened in that episode? I finished the game yesterday and I couldn't be happier and ty for having videos up on your channel on it

I feel that people want to view the dinosaurs in JP as the monsters in Monster Hunter. They're just animals. But looking deeper into the lore and concepts for both and you'll find so things you wouldn't believe. (Some even crossing over) Examples; (JP - Movies) Hybrids and Dinosaurs being turned into weapons. (MH - Lore ) Dragons being converted into weapons.

I would like so much Live-Action series and animated series (in 2D as the series "Godzilla" released in 1998) taking place between JP3 and JW, The Lost World and JP3, and between JW and Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom and even after, some of whose stories could be inspired by comics like "Jurassic Park Dangerous Game" IDW, video games: "Jurassic Park Trespasser" released in 1998, those canceled: "Jurassic Park Survival" from 2001, deleted scenes: the mosasaur attacking and killing the whalers, the T-rex Buck from "The Lost World Jurassic Park" sticking his head through the window of Benjamin's room and frightening his family, how the paw of the baby t-rex was broken, how Ajay Sidhu is dead, what attacked the boat "Dino-Soar" in the mist at the opening of Jurassic Park 3 (Spinosaurus, ...?), how Ben Hildebrand died, how Eric Kirby survived during 8 weeks on Isla Sorna since landing on the tree with Ben to his meeting with Alan Grant, how Eric got the T-rex's urine, how Billy Brennan survived the pteranodon attacks until he was rescued; what is at the origin of the other scars located on the right side of Rexy/Roberta miniurl.be/r-2u40 (from Jurassic World) miniurl.be/r-2u3z seen that was not injured on this side at the end of Jurassic Park miniurl.be/r-2u41 miniurl.be/r-2u42 except for the neck and lower jaw, which means that she had them after her final fight against the 2 velociraptors in Jurassic Park and before the events of Jurassic World. -I would like there to be in these series: the Suchomimus, feathered Pyroraptor, Deinonychus, Utahraptor, Teratophoneus, Tarbosaurus, Deinosuchus, Sarcosuchus, Ornithocheirus of a wingspan of 12 meters, but especially no dying tyrannosaurs and no t-rex killed; the return of characters from the Jurassic Park trilogy with those from Jurassic World including Allan Grant, Ellie Sattler, Tim and Alex Murphy, Ian Malcom, Kelly Malcom, Sarah Harding, Nick Van Owen, Billy Brennan, and Barry Sembène ; these musics: "Journey to the island" miniurl.be/r-2u44 and "End Credits" miniurl.be/r-2u45 main theme "The Lost World Jurassic Park" miniurl.be/r-2u46 , Jurassic Park 3 "Udesky, Nash and Cooper" miniurl.be/r-2uuk and "Dinosaur Fly-By" miniurl.be/r-2uul . -I would love to see these remarkable scenes in 2D animated version: the t-rex killing the 2 velociraptors and roaring victory at the end of Jurassic Park, the t-rex Buck terrorizing San Diego in "The Lost World Jurassic Park", the T-rex with later Blue fighting the indominus rex to the mosasaur in Jurassic World, the T-rex killing the carnotaur, escaping with the other dinosaurs from the basements of Lockwood mansion, killing Eli Mills, repelling another carnotaur, roaring and destroying the DNA container of the indominus rex, and roaring in front of a lion, Blue fighting and killing the indoraptor and roaring in victory in Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom. -I would also like to see extended scenes (in 2D animation, or in live-action) like the T-rex Buck terrorizing and chasing people, also sowing destruction in San Diego until he feels his offspring , and unpublished like the tyrannosaurus Buck waking up and killing the crew of the S.S. Venture ship until arrival at the port of San Diego, the T-rex Rexy/Roberta with the other dinosaurs escaping from the basements of the manor Lockwood before she kills Eli Mills.

First of all great vid and great channel, you are my main source for JP news and has been an awesome ride. The thing you mentioned about plot details and both sides (animal and genetics) I think that a lot of fans of JP could take this aspects and have a blind eye for obvious bad things in the franchise, because you said that some years ago you didn't like that aspect (genetics and hybrids and the human/dino wackyness) until you came across the fact that they were really developing it. In that case, my "in good faith" question for you Klayton, so we can understand each other, is as follows... Why do you accept it? If JP was actually implementing this kinds of things since the 90s, it doesn't mean that it's okey with the tone that the first book and movie set. I likethe wacky aspect of JP but I wish that they implemented it better in movies like Fallen Kingdom, movie that I like but a lot of aspects of it are cartoony af, that's all. Saludos from Chile and our chilean seabass for lunch.

A pin would be awesome! Hey Klayton, greetings from belgium, i hope you are all right and safe during these times. thanks for your vidéos, they are always super interesting for an old JP fan like me ;) I really hope someday the producers will finaly dare to go all out with the genetics monsters approach for a series or something, like you i feel both aspects are equally important, not just the paleantology! Stay safe! Take care! PS : will you read us another part of the books sometime? Or review the non crichton novels?

From your TLW series video and these new details, better late than never in JW and FK, which highly surrounded dinos and hybrid dinos being used as bio-weapons and being sold. To me, the JW trilogy has so far shown what the details of the abandoned details would’ve looked like years ago

But its a good thing stuff that all those bizarre ideas were left off and never got to see the light of day. Imagine that today we could be seeing JP franchise with the same eyes we see Sharknado, instead of the same mesmerized kid's glance everytime we watch some new content. THANK GOD they didnt go through with that.

i personally don't mind that they focus on the genetically modified aspect, it's not the movie's fault people took the designs literally and assumed that is what these creatures looked like. not to mention properties outside of the films that aren't helping the matter, by trying to be educational with fake facts, or rather tell the facts, but not with enough detail, Jurassic park 3 is where i personally felt the movies strayed a bit too far, trying to get the idea that raptors in real life were as intelligent as dolphins or even primates, was too far for me. And i agree with so many things of what you say in this video, especially that whole "i was a passive fan" thing, there is so much ,more to this franchise than just the movies, and the games are a great example, though i haven't played any of them yet, i do wish to someday.

One argument that's been made is that Crichton wouldn't have approved or liked the direction of the new trilogy. That's the most ludicrous thing I've ever heard, you read any Crichton novel (Minus like Travels, The Great Train Robbery, his early crime novels.) Any of the ones dealing with science and you watch especially Fallen Kingdom there is Crichton coming out at the seams. He was very into the 'what ifs' of science, the plausible and usually involving poor choices of the people behind things like genetic modification. He would very much have approved of this new franchise if I'm not mistaken.

I remember being a little disappointed in the late 90s when Spielberg rejected the hybrid storylines but now I'm glad he did. It's really just JP fanfic if you think about it.
