Actually, if I understand...she moved back on her percentage from 25% to 15%. I am promoting at much lower percentage, around 8-10%. I'm wondering if I should move up to 15%.

I really hope this is not the answer youtube eBay influencers provide to combat low sales. When all is said and done you will be paying ebay upwards of 30%+. You guys must get all your items free to even consider this. Wow eBay is the ultimate winner here at the expense of it sellers and buyers....this model of profit for them is not sustainable.

correct I was promoting at 25% and moved down to cap at 17% my total ebay fees are 25% which for all they do I don't mind.. They provide millions of buyers, and direct media marketing. I've looked into marketing on social media for other stuff and it's more than that, wether you make sales or not. At least here if you only pay if it sells. And.. I choose to be in a highly saturated market place, this is what it takes to stay competitive when there's more sellers than buyers. If you choose to sell different items, you may pay less.

@@theganglandlegacy exactly I been selling since 98' online many different marketplaces but I think in the last 5-10 years to many people have decided to become resellers (or think they can be resellers) yes prior to the goofy promoted listings everything was great but I also think promoted listings went hard in hand with the increase in sellers making them compete for exposure of there items the saturation of sellers online was the maine reason I was so hoping for the new tax law to go into effect because so many new sellers would have jumped shipped this was the main reason ebay fought so hard to get it overturned which they did not all they did was get it delayed till next year I still think come next year taxes there will be a massed exodus because just like most people speed most don't want to self report there income but with the new law it will no longer be in the hands of the seller to report (the seller will be reported by the marketplaces) many many sellers will jump ship I hope this happens because it will mean less competition I have no issues with that then there will be no need for promoted listings it's time to drain the swamp 2024 tax time is when it will happen be ot $600 and one transaction, $5 000 and one transaction or $10,000 and one transaction people who don't want there income reported are going to jump ship its not the $ threshold in the new law that really matters its the transaction threshold ill give you an example the old law was $20,000 and 200 transactions not one or the other but both I'd you didn't hit both the marketplaces or PayPal did not report you you were on the honor system to report yourself (majority of resellers are tax cheats and never report there earnings the government and irs has wisemed up to this) so if someone made $1 million and it was there only sake guess what that $1 million was not reported by any marketplaces or payment facilitators they were on the honor system to report there income (your very gullible if you think someone would report that if the government and irs did not know about majority of the sellers online fall into this category that's why there was so much outrage regarding this new law because they wouod no longer have the shield of the honor system there income wouod be reported like it or not) but with the new law that $1 million even if its there only sale the marketplaces or payment facilitators would be required to report that million this new law was written for those people that made 6 and 7 figures and hide behind the transaction threshold of 200 they would stop when they hit 199 transactions sold and they would never be reported its just like speeding there's a speed limit but they still speed with the old law if you didn't hot both thresholds $20,000 and 200 transactions then you weren't reported but by law are still supposed to report what you made but they don't

I just started cross listng to ebay from poshmark by myself, not using automation. Understanding where all the hidden reports are and what they mean is very helpful. Most of my sales still come from Posh & they are so much easier to use, but understanding more about the other platforms like ebay is so important. Thank you!

Yes! This was me a few years ago. I started on Poshmark and took about 8 months for ebay to outperform poshmark Once you learn ebay it's much easier.. you can run sales. You can try things and see how they work. You have more control over your business. And more efficient tools!

Clothing resellers are suffering from inventory bloat and glut. This is because influencers' solution to anything Ebay related is "list more." But the solution is really list more unsaturated desirable items. These items can be by definition, harder to source and more difficult to ship. The problem with clothing sellers is many of them are simply "in too deep" or in other words too committed to their clothing inventory and the systems needed to store vast quantities of it, to pivot or change course. The solution? Promote your clothing which already have slim margins 25%! Its absolutely crazy.

I mean I see your point. But for me personally it still makes sense… even at a higher promoted because my processes are so efficient and clothing is easy to find my hourly rate is still very high. Switching I’d actually loose money because I’d take much longer to ship, store, and list because of researching. There’s pros and cons to both. As always thanks for your thoughtful response.

I used to do promoted listings. I'm also a clothing reseller. I noticed that the promoted listings gave me a lot of traffic but no sales. I turned them off completely and now consistently make sales.

I always wait 2-3 days to promote new listings. You get a bump on new listings so you want to wait a few days. I always do sell similar espically when I dont have any new listings going. I try to do 10 per day.

After watching this video, I had to go check out how my performance is for my promotion campaign (4%). 55% of my sales so far this year are organic and 45% from promotion. My ROAS is 25 and my sales conversion ratio is 3.7% where as my overall conversion is 2.4%. Another great knowledge nugget you dropped. I didnt know know about this advertising analytic. Thanks!!!

@@SarahStylesLLC I have really been paying attention to STR when sourcing since October so I think that is causing my sell conversion ratio to be so high when CTR is 0.3%. My average COGs is running about $9.12 right now averaging about $14 profit each item. There is a slight downward trend of my promoted impressions and organic impressions are somewhat flat. I will continue monitoring.

It’s hard to know for sure and depending on your inventory. Pull a listing quality report and see what others are doing in your category. I’d do slightly above that to stay competitive

All my Promoted Sales comes from items with high page views. All my sales from non promoted comes from medium page views. No sales for low page views. The exceptions are if something sells quickly. 15% promoted fee saw zero difference. Items with low page views needs better title keywords.

This is a great point! If the items isn’t a good listinh it won’t sell regardless. Most important is traffic then how views! I always recommend working on organic traffic first! It’s free

I sell in the collectable category's, Coins and paper Money. I tried the Global shipping & found my items did see higher premiums but rarely pay after winning auctions. I decided to stay away from the Global shipping program. I do use promoted listing options for at least one auction per week. Hoping the listing will get buyers to look at my other items. Seems to be working.

And now eBay has changed things up with PL. If I’m understanding correctly, we will now pay PL fee even on items that where not promoted if the buyer clicked on a different PL in the past 30 days. Something like that.

This is hubby eBay store, He was teaching me to do it. he passed away Dec 18, 2023, just a few months ago with ALS. I am not doing to well. I have learned to shuffle listings to try to generate sales. Not much good. While he was alive we were top sellers ( I think that is what its called) Not now. I tried to do sponsored listings....I can not figure out how to do it. Maybe eBay wont let me since our store has grinded to a halt. This is my only income . Any ideas that might help. When you changed strategy you changed two things at once: Your listing strategy (Sell similar) and you promotion strategy (Immediate v delayed and reduced %). It's therefore not possible to determine which change made the difference. Indeed, one change may even be counteracting the other!

I don’t promote at more than 5%. Nobody will make a good profit if they continue to pay eBay so much. I buy good stuff, it will sell and if I have to hold through a low sales month, I will.

Yes correct. Organic sales/traffic are the items that aren't seen/sold via promoted. IE no extra cost

Can you explain how to do trending plus ?? When I go to promoted listings, I go to automated and then do 8% for "Set ad rate cap" and 2% for "Adjust suggested ad rate" ... is that considered Trending plus ?? Thanks !

Under adjust suggested ad rate (suggested is trending) --> select the amount above you are willing to go. Then under that is "cap" which won't promote over that %. Hope that makes sense. Somewhat helpful but really hard to follow. I just wanted to say STOP! What was that? Talking too fast and flitting from one thing to another before I can comprehend what you’re even talking about. My overall thought is how on earth do you get listing, sale pulling, packing, and shipping done if you spend so much time with so many spreadsheets and graphs? I never ever went as high as 25% promoted listings. In fact, I find that shocking. I start at 4 or 6%, and then after a month if it hasn’t sold, I raise it to either the recommended rate or a percent or two above recommended.

Sarah, look at your analytics!!! It's horrible!!! 0.16% CTR...11.5MM views...You sold $5564...You're doing something very wrong here. My store sells around $10,000 from 900,000 views and 2.6 CTR. Only 150 items for sale on average!!!
