I'm Subscribed! (I use Sonar X3 Producer and I'm following one of your videos). Welcome to Florida. You'll get to use to hurricanes emergencies from time to time, It is what it is. I'm a NYC transplant since Andrew. I had home damage from Nicole and dealing with this too. Likewise, I suggest you get flood insurance for the future, (looks like you're in a flood zone, and generally it's not part of HO insurance). One of the hardest parts of living in Florida is dealing with homeowner's insurance companies. Every year they stick it to you, whether a hurricane year or not. In my case, the insurance is way more expensive than the property taxes. Good luck and welcome to the Sunshine state!

Welcome to Florida! We've got oranges, and hurricanes! I live in Florida, but 2 hours southeast from you. So because we were at the weakest part of the hurricane, Wednesday was the worse day only because the few hurricane bands that reached us caused 2 tornados, but neither was near my house. On Thursday, absolutely nothing, the sun was out and it was just a normal day with a little bit of wind which was actually nice, everyone was out walking their dogs, kids playing outside.

I lived in Port Charlotte for my pre~teen years. Family is in Punta Gorda now. They made in thru Ian in a mobile home. They also made it thru Hurricane Charlie. I don't agree with being in that style of Home for Florida, but we all walk in different shoes. I'm glad u got thru it safely. I love ur build videos on sound barriers/buffers! Great job!

Thanks for being so vulnerable and sharing your experience. I had a similar feeling in London a couple weeks ago after being robbed and having no cell coverage and just feeling helpless. Still nothing to the magnitude of what you went through, but for some reason I felt compelled to finish watching until the end. I hope for the best, and that insurance will end up paying for all the damages. I can’t even imagine being in that situation, despite that helpless feeling of having nowhere to go. Really appreciate all of the Studio advice over the years, but especially the life advice here. 👊🏼

Wow, what a "Welcome to Florida" experience! I'm glad you're ok and I have to say that you manage the situation with very quick and effective decisions. I guess the current condition of the house will keep you living in NY for now but I hope you can fix it soon so you can move down to the Sunshine State.

But if you absolutely MUST have a house, try searching for real estate in higher elevated areas of Florida. Ian was a perfect reminder to me to never move to Florida. Last year we were considering moving there and ultimately my wife decided that she's really not ready to move. I'm glad we didn't do it. I'm staying far enough north to stay away from Hurricanes.

It has passed 4 months since your last video and I am wondering: what’s going on with you. I just hope you are alright. Somehow I stumble over your channel just because the mixer I own: Allen & Heath GL 4000. But I was a peeping Tom here watching your story. Somehow I admire your courage to do what you do in the times we are living. One could observe the story of your life in the background. The classical: wife, family, house, probably a kid... I went through all that stages several times and feel some kind of discomfort watching another male dreamer going through all that. I wish you all the best, Weezna. I am not a preacher nor prophet. Just “have been there before”. You are an intelligent, creative and skilled guy. Revaluate your goals and made something out of your life as long as you still can. Because you are young. I was scared when I watched how you “develop” your studio after moving to the new place. And in the end you had to sale all of that gear. That’s what made me write these words. You have to revaluate your goals. Investing in studio nowadays expecting it to pay your bills is at least a misjudgment. If you at least were involved in some artistically evolving musical scene (like SubPop in Seattle in late 1980’s) so that you could be “some cult producer of a musical genre from your area”. But it doesn’t look like that. Or at least if you would yourself a musician using your studio to produce your own music and as well recording others for some extra income. But it doesn’t look like that either. I just hope you don’t have any kids and you are not in the middle of divorce. I went through that several times. Now I am a looser living alone with all my equipment. At least working at the convenient 9 to 5 job to pay my bills and alimonies. I wish you all the best. Greetings from Sweden!

Oh man. That's awful. It was a massive hurricane. I'm on the opposite side of Florida and it got scary here but you got it really bad. A tree limb narrowly missed my roof.

Glad you're okay! But please stop and think before you commit to moving your family and studio down there. South Florida gets hit by these on a regular basis. How will you deal with losing all your studio equipment when the next hurricane hits there?
