New Superman Plot Theory

What are your theories on the plot for James Gunn's Superman?

While this may sound like a plausible theory, I don't think this movie will go in this direction for some reasons. Firstly, Brainiac nor anything related to him is shown in the trailer which already has so many characters and potential villains (Lex Luthor, Ultraman, the Engineer etc.). The trailer did not hint at threats from outside of Earth other than 1) a giant alien Star with with a large eye (I think this is Starro at the end of the trailer and will probably be placed at the end of the film) AND 2) the Kaiju as shown in the trailer. Therefore, Earth's threats and enemies will likely come from characters within Earth. I think characters like Guy Gardner, Hawkgirl (and Mr Terrific) will have already been established heroes in the film so there will likely be no significant alien threats. Characters like Metamorpho (as seen in the trailer) may be an initial threat to Superman because of Lex's manipulation but will likely help him in the end. Thanks for reading.

If this plot theory is true, then we finally have Brainiac in a feature film. I think that if we give James Gunn a chance, he'll shock and amaze us based on the characters he chooses use alone.

Why does everyone ignore that it will be the same story as the comic and the animated movie Superman vs The Elite? All the clues are crystal clear, even in the trailer there are scenes that are the same as in the animated movie or the comic. And for me at the end of the movie there would be Luthor instead of Manchester Black. The idea and the message would be that Superman could always kill everyone, but he didn't because he is a good guy and has great morals, so he will give the world a great lesson about commitment, righteousness, empathy and kindness. That's the movie, guys, there are no secrets.

I really hope aliens don’t play a big part in the movie. I can’t think of a more boring plot. Also there is no way superman meets krypto for the first time in this movie. From the teaser you can tell Krypto and Superman have been together for a while.

No, he was NOT saying that, he was saying the exact opposite. "James Gunn Addresses Why Superman Bleeds In The First Shot Of The DC Reboot’s Trailer - 'Not A Fascistic Power Fantasy.' " Later on in the article: "In Gunn's talk with Variety, the director expresses his satisfaction with exploring Superman's down-to-earth kindness rather than focusing on his physical power, which could have become 'a fascistic power fantasy'."

This sounds pretty plausible. I’d definitely enjoy a brainiac story. I wasn’t wowed by the trailer but I’ll wait to see another before deciding. Off topic, I finally saw the new Venom and it was great. Much more fun than I expected.
