Made me rethink that old twister movie lol
@pilzj32633 жыл бұрын
Jonathan Kent's been giving tons of crappy values in Synder's movie. And Superman could have saved him from the tornado in lightning speed without being seen by any witness. What a lame way to die.
@Eris_Norregard3 жыл бұрын
@@pilzj3263 I mostly agree with you, but about the speed - he could fly to his dad at that speed but once he got a hold of him, he would have to slow down significantly or his dad's internal organs would turn to mush from the G force. So yeah, there would be witnesses.
@vetreas3663 жыл бұрын
@@Eris_Norregard Not if he just whisked him away before the tornado got there. Also Supes was shown dozens if not hundreds of times in the past to be able to move others at the same speed he moves without harm. It's explained through his powers working a bit differently from how it actually looks like on first sight. Long story short (that's a lie): if you try to lift a plane with your bare hands, even if you have the strength, the weight of the plane would exert force on the point of contact and the fuselage would just bend, twist and tear apart. There is no way to do something like that by exerting enough force to counter its gravitational pull on such a small surface area. So physics kinda works against Supes IRL which is why it's explained when he is in contact with something he generates a.... "bioenergetic" mesh/field/net that extends through the object and basically makes his powers affect it directly. It's why Superboy's main power, "tactile telekinesis" (don't think too much about that) works by disassembling whatever he touches - it's basically the opposite of Supes's ability. It's also why his clothes remain intact when shot at, burned or whatever despite being (usually) just made of normal thread, why his cape is highly resistant to pretty much any sort of damage (except when the writers need it tattered for drama) and how he can lift gigantic heavy stuff from a single point of contact without them losing structural integrity. He also does it instinctively so it's not even that hard to control. If you want an example, think of the Christopher Reeves movie Superman (the first one) and how Lois was able to be held by a single hand and seemingly fly with Superman. That was the movie's interpretation of that ability. It's an ass-pull and a very convenient way of explaining away physics, but it's been part of his power set for years. So it's not like he's made of granite, it's just that he generates and extends a sort of energy field around him that protects him from damage and allows him to do whatever the writers want him to do. And this is the de-powered version of Superman, the one who can't move planets around... without putting in some effort.

It's also kind of a weird thing to complain about once you think about it. I mean, someone taught a German shepherd to drive. Military training is to aim for the largest target available, usually center mass, and they are using machine guns so precision shooting isn't really a concern. Germany might have had the best machine gun corps in the war, but that was less about accuracy and more about efficient operation of the guns, allowing them to get them into position quickly and keep them shooting for as long as possible. Also remember that the usual doctrine for stopping a tank at this time was to just shoot everything you had at it until it stopped, and that actually worked somewhat well, since tanks of the time were so lightly armored

Screenwriter Guy's uncomfortable fidgeting while Producer Guy tries to talk his wife into abandoning their son is just making my day right now. 🤣 I don't know why. I've watched that scene about a million times and it's always been a favorite, but suddenly, his uncomfortable glances and facial expressions are just extra hilarious today.

The last pitch (Wonder Woman 1984) was just full of fun trivia.
