Right. You can tell right away the story is sus because Abdy & DeLuca at WB Pictures have no creative or operational control over DC Studios' productions or their trailers. They're two separate studios, two separate divisions. It wouldn't be DeLuca giving any notes to editing... that'd strictly be James Gunn.

DC Studios is a division of WB Pictures, not it‘s own studio actually, so operationally little has changed to how it was before Gunn came in. It‘s mainly just a branding exercise. So of course the heads at WB Pictures have some control, no matter what Gunn might say publicly.

Unlike the former "DC Films" subdivision of WB Pictures, DC Studios is its own division and studio and is not aligned under WB Pictures. Gunn & Safran and Abdy & DeLuca respectively each hold the same position at their respective studios: Co-CEO and Chairperson. The only thing DC Studios coordinates with WB Pictures is distribution. But WB Pictures, per Zaslav, has no creative authority over DC Studios productions. Facts.

It's not a self-sufficiant company like Marvel Studios, Lucasfilm, Pixar, Dreamworks, etc. are. Those are subsidaries of their mother company. DC "Studios" is a division, they work under the umbrella of the Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group, a.k.a what Abdy & Luca are CEOs of. It's an exercise in rebranding. Operationally, nothing has changed. You can see that by how things like Super/Man the Christopher Reeve documentary were branded with DC Studios on it despite the fact they're not the ones that made that movie. Or how The Penguin got a DC Studios logo slapped on despite not being made there.

Honestly I would prefer if everyone didn't sing during a movie or stage performance. It's fine if it's like "Hey, let's set up this thing where a bunch of fans watch this in a theater". But for my first viewing I want to be able to clearly hear the performance and not get distracted by the people around me.

No, it was Frank Grillo who said he saw part of it and it gave him shivers and goosebumps. Gunn would obviously have the rough trailer cut on his hard drive while he was reviewing it and giving notes for revisions. Stop trying to gin up fake drama and go watch Rebel Moon 😂

Also, of course Gunn is going to say he likes it. He's not just the director, he's also the head of the studio. So he's going to hype everything they put out. He's not going to publicly announce that the flagship project Warner is banking on being a hit was disappointing. That would be insane. So yes, even if the trailer is a piece of garbage, he's going say it's great. I assure you, he's going to lie about a lot of projects, just like he lied about The Flash being a good movie. That's part of his job as the creative head of the studio. His priority isn't to be a good boy and telling the truth, it's to supporting the company as best he can. Not to mention the countless people that helped him make the movie. He's not just speaking for himself, he's protecting their jobs.

Ah yes, a classic movie studio marketing strategy! Random internet commenters being paid on a contract basis to say positive things about unreleased movies on videos with less than 5k views. What a good use of a marketing budget! Typically a marketing team needs to demonstrate return-on-investment in order to justify even a mid-size campaign spend. But in WB’s case, I’m sure they have complete faith that their untested, unproven youtube comment strategy will translate to big box office $$$! After all, if there’s one demographic that needs to be convinced to see a superhero movie, it’s superhero movie fans who hang out in comment sections of superhero movie KZbin videos
