"Knight" (Richard Sterling) The Sterling family is an aristocratic family that runs a huge underground industry, but the head and his wife have not had their own children for many years. After breaking off relations with their former partners, Mrs. Sterling gave birth to twins, and when the twins were four years old, the two children suddenly disappeared. In order to find the children, they atone more devoutly. The sister was soon found from the hands of the former "partner", and the brother was not found until three years later. On the day he came back, the brother sang the nursery rhyme he sang when he parted with his sister. The nursery rhyme was a game they often played when they were young - knights and princesses. With the details of the nursery rhyme and the boy's narration, the sister also recognized the boy. The two children are still innocent and cute, but only the sister who used to accompany her brother day and night feels that something is wrong. Until one day, she discovered that this "returned" brother was always lying. He led the servants to the rooftop and asked the housekeeper to move the ladder away; he spread the malice between the children, causing hatred among everyone; he dug up the information about the black industry that his father was still secretly running, causing quarrels between his parents until his mother tried to commit suicide... Only the elder sister knew these things, but the "younger brother" always said that he loved her the most and would not let her tell anyone. "Only if the world is bad enough, they will cherish us who symbolize 'hope'." The younger brother always watched the fights caused by "lies" in secret, like a king who planned war and held chess pieces. But he seemed to be often lost in thought, as if troubled by some problems. The elder sister finally reached the age of marriage, and she even wanted to escape from this "younger brother" who came from nowhere because she knew all the secrets. But on a sunny afternoon, the younger brother pushed her down the stairs. "As long as you can never leave, I will always be a 'knight', and you will never go to the outside world." It was not until then that people discovered his evil deeds. Everyone used to think that he was just a child who liked reading, knight dramas, swordsmanship and war books. The parents finally discovered that the brother's face had been scratched out of the family photos before the age of four in the old album and replaced with "Richard's" face. In the end, when his sister went to the Red Church to attend the wedding, Richard was locked up in the confinement room. After the wedding, his sister disappeared, and as for the Sterlings, they slept forever in the tower of the mansion. Richard Sterling, who inherited all the inheritance, still had a polite smile. Singing the ballad of "Knight", he embarked on a journey to find his sister.

From what I can tell from this, Knight is probably adopted. The family welcome him is the scene where he received the ball. He gradually attach himself to his sister and is now obsessing in this role as the brother. You can see the photo in the beginning there was his sister and someone who seems different to Knight. And yet near the ending, that same photo has his own face placed on it. I think there was missing brother here. Anyway I didn’t expect this background at all and he is kinda weird. But regardless I’m excited to play him

Okay, since everyone here seems confused, I'm gonna give a quick summary of his backstory: Mr. and Mrs. Sterling were an aristocratic but childless couple who, after many years of struggling, finally managed to have a pair of twins. However, those children went missing at the age of four, leaving the couple to "atone for their sins" in order to find them. They did eventually find the girl of the two, and not long after, their "son" reappeared as well. This boy, however, was not their actual son, and the "Richard" we see in the video is an imposter, hoping to take the family's inheritance. Over the course of their childhood, the Sterlings' daughter discovers that Richard isn't actually her brother, but is constantly threatened into silence. All the while, he keeps orchestrating things to cause people to turn against each other (like the children fighting and his parents arguing). He even goes so far as to push his sister down the stairs so she would be forced to stay with her family and he could continue to act as her "Knight". Finally, when she reaches marrying age, the truth is revealed and Richard is locked away while she goes to attend her wedding. However, Mr. and Mrs. Sterling are found dead shortly afterwards, and she goes missing, leading Richard to inherit everything. Based on the ending to the video, it seems like she fled to Olethus Manor to escape him, and that Richard intends to follow her there in the hopes of killing her, thus silencing the last person who knew of his true identity.

Alright, this is getting really annoying, but before anyone jump into conclusions please allow me to clear up some confusion. 1. They're not blood related, but they were raised as siblings because Richard stole her brother's identity. 2. He does not have feelings for her. His only intent is silencing her to keep his identity a secret and inherit the family's fortune. In the end it's shown that his last goal is to eliminate her as she's the last member of the family alive, and also the only one that knows about his secret, to erase all evidence and risks of being found out. 3. I don't know why some people are surprised that he's morally evil, it's quite funny to be honest, considering most survs are horrible people. XD 4. It's suspected that his S tier will be sold in the shop for fragments and echoes because there's always 2 essence characters and 1 shop character, and the other 2 characters were already released in essence (Faro Lady and Goatman). But it's still not officially confirmed, so there's still a good chance he will be released in essence.
