Greetings from the snowbound Okanagan again folks, thanks for the video. It's looking like the suspension will be about right, well done on the math - it's always nice when the math works out. Without casting too many aspersions on fruity beers, I'll just say it's wonderful we don't all have the same tastes. :) Thanks again and stay well.

Thank you! Never heard this term, is that shimming the coils so they sit perfectly vertical?
@svntreebus315
@svntreebus315 Жыл бұрын
Usually Usually there is a depression or marking on the lower control arm indicating where you would locate the end of the spring, or “pigtail” of the coil. This will help make your side to side hight more even. If there are no marking on the lower control arm I suppose there might be an indicator on the upper spring pocket. Just locate the very end of the coil in the same location on both sides, should be good to go. I.e. like as if there were a clock face sitting on the bottom of the LCA. Clock them in the same location. Easier to explain in person I suppose. Hope that helps a little. Keep um coming love seeing the progress on the build!

Dobinson springs are flexy ;) Very popular choice in Australia for the 80s. You could always fit airbags inside the rear coils if the weight requires it.

I would love to see a quick walk around of that 100 series and tundra you have in the background of this video. As a fellow 2UZ V8 owner I always preach the awesome thirstyness of these engines. I'm also super interested to see the performance of the 3.4 with all the extra weight and if you guys will have to regear, supercharge or figure something out if it doesn't quite have the beans to pull the Chinook around! Awesome build though and I can't wait to see the end results!
@ToyotaWorldRunners
@ToyotaWorldRunners Жыл бұрын
They both belong to Jason, the owner of Westcan Overland, our main sponsor - we'll have to see what he thinks about a walkaround! As for the engine, remember that Toyota but 22R's and 22RE's in 26 foot motorhomes waaay bigger than the Chinook! It will be interesting to see how well it moves though, there's a few other yoterhomes with 3.4s and they seem to be very happy.

this build is sick! i noticed the bracket that you made for the shock. I think the original pivot point would be better because of how the diff articulates, it would allow the shock to pivot. but the new bracket is the other way around so when the diff moves the bracket or even the shock would just bend or break.
@ToyotaWorldRunners
@ToyotaWorldRunners Жыл бұрын
Yes, it will create some binding, don't think it would actually break but who knows. It was made hastily and we're going to correct it!

If it’s in the cards I’d say get adjustable rear upper and lower control arms and lengthen them a bit. Helps correct pinion angle if needed and that little extra length helps a ton with stability.

Yep, they sell them here at a local specialty 4x4 shop too! We're not made of money... Yet! Although it may appear that way sometimes 😂 I looked and a few Aussie companies don't even ship to Canada, plus it would have been ~$1000 for front and rear track bars, where as making our own only cost a few dollars in metal. We'll be talking about the caster correction in the next vid! Thanks for watching.
