The original omnichords are good fun... but if you pick up a vintage one be aware they are very delicate inside... they often suffer from cracked solder joints. There are two large circuit boards connected by a header soldered into single sided PCB material. Any flex and the connections crack.

Ah, the noble Omnichord. Mine is one of the instruments in my studio I’ll never sell. Don’t use it often, but when I do, it’s PERFECT.

You can tap the touchstrip with your fingertips for some human arpeggiator action. That's what I did with it the one time I had one in my hands. Salesperson was looking at me like I'd lost my mind. If the price is right, I'm grabbing one. As far as mods go, check out Folktek's circuit-bent version. It's amazing, and there was a video of it up here.

in the UK, old omnichords are 400 to 700 quid, wow! Thumbs up for quirky instruments - imagine a set with an omnichord and stylophone...

I have the last model they made, the Q-Chord. I got it off someone on FB for half what they normally go for, and I LOVE IT!!! The backing drum tracks are shit, but you can turn them down independently and play just the chord buttons and touch strip... and that's when the magic happens. It's an ambient maker's dream, I've been super digging it since I got it. I'm looking forward to the new reissue for sure, but I'm so happy with the Q-Chord. Can't recommend enough picking one up if you get the chance.

"entry instrument" I think you might be surprised if you look into who used the original Omnichords. The instrument has a small but unique place in pop culture. Original OM-84s are highly sought after by collectors.

plenty of omnichords second hand in Sweden for about 300 dollars pretty often.. Reverb is way over priced. They are fun for a few days..
