I'm glad I have the previous version with the metal grill. There is a reason why you can't find an image online of these subs with the grill attached.

Yes, they only come with a cloth grill.

@coreymoyers57712 ай бұрын
@@SGTOldSchool96 You should get that fixed. My SB 16 Ultra has a solid, quiet metal grill. Moreover, it looks a ton better than a cheap plastic grill.
@Cgjubhfhnybjkn2 ай бұрын
Clearly a cost savings move by SVS, the metal ones looked nicer and I had no resonance issues with my four PB-16 subs. Switched to SB-17 using their upgrade program and the cloth ones look more conventional, but lack the durability and child proof feature of the metal.

How are you able to use such powerful subs in an apt without getting kicked out ?

I wish they would allow a regular calibrated microphone. I can't see a smart phone mic being very accurate at low frequencies.

I think a little credit to peerless for coming up with the driver design is due. They came out with the stw 350 the first one to see that monstrous 8 inch voice coil. and laid the groundwork for the 16 Ultra.
@AudioAdvice18 күн бұрын
Yes, Peerless makes a lot of good drivers, many for other companies. Thanks for sharing

Wonder why SVS didn’t just go straight to an 18” driver?

@@AudioAdvice yes try it because it caused port noise in pb 16 ultra and thats not acceptable at all for such an expensive sub 😅😅
@jkairi42 ай бұрын
@Lakshyakapila Here's the solution, stop driving your subs like that, it's unnecessary to do to get quality performance.

Where are the numbers on this sub? (Distortion , DB,s , transient response?) Why has SVS not released this imformation or anybody else?

It is interesting SVS does not have a response graph like they normally do. Hopefully we will see some soon. Thanks for watching

I have the sb17 in a smallish 14x15x8 room. It hits 10hz @ 103db. I know it’s room dependent but this sub hit harder and lower than the sb16 I had.
@Cgjubhfhnybjkn2 ай бұрын
One glaring issue with these subs is the rear panel buttons next to the display (up, down, mode). They’re backlit and can’t be turned off, thus emitting a very slight glow that’s slightly noticeable when your tv/projector screen goes full black. A little gaffer’s tape can fix that.
@AudioAdvice2 ай бұрын
Good catch. We thought they dimmed after a while, but we could be wrong. Either way, a bit of tape would fix it like you said.
@Cgjubhfhnybjkn2 ай бұрын
Unfortunately, they don’t dim and this is an oversight by their development team. Maybe a future firmware update would take care of this, but who knows.

Is it possible to connect an SVS Sub to the Sonos Arc Ultra using the Sonos Amp?
@AudioAdvice20 күн бұрын
You can use the amp for rear channels and the sub could augment those but not the ARC.
