Would they be good as front left and right?

@Subwoofer101 7 ай бұрын
If your set-up made sense for that form factor, yes. If you wanted to wall mount your left and right, for example. Or if you wanted absolute continuity, having every speaker the same. Upgrading in stages, like wanting to have all Evolution series speakers, but you want to start with these as fronts and then move them into surround and height when you get a bookshelf or tower. Lots of options, but they work great in every position. Very versatile. But I imagine the Evolution Center would be better suited for center channel duty. Just depends on your use case.

@@Subwoofer101 I'm going to get the evolution center and use the ultra elevation for the rest of the 5.1.4 configuration in a 12x12 room, with the 2 sb-3000's calibrated with the speakers hopefully it sounds great. Thanks for the response 👍

@Slasher_Films_Fanatic Right on, that will sound amazing! If it's no trouble, I'd appreciate you following my affiliate link, but no biggie if you can't. I like them set to Small, including the center, and the crossover between 90 and 120 hertz, and all of them will do well with those crossover points. More of a preference thing. I'll also be working on PEQ adjustments for the sealed subs soon. Stay tuned!

Nice review thanks. Please could you get back to me. Are the svs prime elevation speakers worth it for person like myself who listens to 99% music and 1% movies? I've got dual svs sb3000s q acoustics 3090ci center speaker and q acoustics 3030i Bookshelf speakers in my mini system.

Most of my listening is music too, so it's an easy yes on that.

Wow those are decently bigger then I thought. What about depth? Are they much deeper? I have the primes on my ceiling and I can't really loose any more height, they already cut in to my projector beam a little in full 16:9 content
@Subwoofer101
@Subwoofer101 7 ай бұрын
Yeah, they are a little deeper, they are bigger in every dimension. You'd either want to move the bracket so it's out of the way of the beam, or maybe lower the projector to get the Elevation out of the beam. If it's in the way now, might as well adjust it now, and maybe make a cardboard template with the dimensions on the website to see if you can get the Ultra to be out of the way as well. Not sure exactly what you're dealing with, but just my thoughts. If it's just one speaker, and you can use Ultras in the other 2, 4, or however many Prime Elevations you have, it would still be worth it. You'd only have 1 Prime Elevation, and they will still blend well.

@@Subwoofer101 thanks for the reply. Only 2 of the 4 heights are in the way (the front ones) if I move them left or right they would need to be against the side walls, moving the projector down might help but shooting it through a hole in a wall, so keeping it aligned to that may not solve the issue, and I need the height under the projector in the other room anyway. It's a basement with roughly 7 foot ceilings, maybe 7.5. It's pretty much the best I could do with the space. They are mounted right to the floor joists no dry wall, and I have sound panals mounted to the celing around and actually under them, so they are flush to the ceiling, which is kind of a neat look. I'll Probably stick with the Primes til I move some day and redo everything, but I will for sure swap my Cambridge t-500 towers and center for (I'm hoping) 3 evolution Pinnacles up front. Ideally I'd like to swap my 4 surrounds to the evolution bookshelves but I'd want to wall mount them, supposedly that's possible with a bracket they come with but I never got clarifcation on that from anyone.

@Antimonkat Acoustically transparent screen? Bring it forward, and have the Elevations behind the screen? You could also mount the Evolutions on their side, so they are towed in, and you can also add an angled backing to the mount, so they are still angled down. I've always meant to do this, but it would probably be a good solution for your situation. To sum up, a wedged piece of wood that angles the speaker down, and the speaker with the long side parallel to the ceiling. Obviously, bracing it would be critical, you wouldn't want it to come loose. Just an idea to consider.

@@Subwoofer101 all interesting thoughts, thanks, you surely think outside the box like with that RV project. Good things to consider in any event, I wasn't originally going to upgrade the prime elevations, but seeing how much bigger and formidable they are, I probably will, but I think I want to bring the rest of the SVS evolution line in first, those speakers need upgrading before my ceilings do. It will be a good opportunity to reposition them anyway, they aren't quite where I want them related to seating, little too far in and forward I think, though some are saying they should be closer to the front stage anyway, behind the AT screen is a great idea, but then i'd want middles to bridge the gap. Live and learn right? The hobby is a journey. Of course before I do anything You'll want me to get another pb3000 to go duals! I'm commiting a cardinal sin right now by mixing and matching sub brands and types. :P

@@Antimonkat In your situation the very first thing I'd worry about doing first is getting the bass right. So yeah get a second pb-3000 or sell the subs you have and upgrade the pb3000 to dual either sb or pb-17 ultra'sl that's SVS's new top end that's replacing their 16 ultras.

@Jedi_Order81 Strong advice. You'll definitely like the change. You should try some A-B comparisons with them up front as 2 channel. The difference between the Ultra Elevations and the Prime Satellite should be quite a nice change. 🙂 Let me know what you think!

Sorry to hear about your concussion and PCS. Just had an introduction to these myself almost 3 months ago. Terrible! Have you seen someone that really knows how to treat concussions? Why do you feel that your hearing issues will worsen with time?
@Subwoofer101
@Subwoofer101 7 ай бұрын
The general trajectory is that chronic Post Concussion Syndrome gets worse over time. I've definitely been through more tests and screenings over the last 2 decades, and I work with doctors who specifically treat chronic Post Concussion Syndrome. Most vital is a Neuro Optometrist who specializes in brain injury. Biggest difference so far. Definitely not giving up, and maybe it'll be resolved by something new or unexpected, but I'm also a realist. My hearing probably won't get worse in terms of sensitivity, but I don't imagine my hearing being less sensitive. It's definitely regularly misdiagnosed, and usually misunderstood.
@bearclaw5115
@bearclaw5115 7 ай бұрын
@@Subwoofer101 It is not true that PCS generally gets worse with time, symptoms fade for most even without help and this process is sped along with appropriate therapy. Our expectations shape our reality and this is never truer than with concussion symptoms/PCS. "Iatrogenic effects (those caused by the medical intervention) may also occur when individuals are provided with misleading or incorrect information related to recovery of symptoms. This information may cause people to focus and dwell on the idea that their brains are permanently damaged.[31] It appears that even the expectation of symptoms may contribute to the development of PCS by causing individuals with mTBI to focus on symptoms and therefore perceive them to be more intense, to attribute symptoms that occur for other reasons to the injury, and to underestimate the rate of symptoms before the injury." Your hearing may have gotten more sensitive as a normal consequence of aging. I recently brought over some of my good speakers to show my parents a movie and they were crying "Turn it down it's too loud" before we even got going. Maybe 75db tops, I was sitting closer and still wanted to turn it up. They could not take the Focal Chora's for nothing! But they are used to regular tv volume, not sensible home theater volume. Again expectation is everything. You said you're not giving up so the first step is to believe you can get better. The second is to get a doctor that believes recovery is likely and doable. Biggest helps for me have been neck therapy, creatine 20g+daily (to boost brain atp) and yardwork (mild exercise, tracking objects in space, maintaining balance). Good luck and thanks for the review!

I like SVS, I just wish they would start using quality parts inside their speakers so that it would match the quality of the outside. Don't know if you ever seen inside any of their speakers, but eveything in there is made from the absolute cheapest parts you can get. Like the Crossover, is made so cheaply it makes you wanna cry that they chesped out so badly, and they can't even spend like the extra dollar to put in lower gauge wire that makes up the connection inside. Like it's such a high gauge it's not much thicker than human hair. Yet they have the actual gal to have up on their webpage that their speakers are made up of high end parts. I think if they spent a little less on making the speakers to look the part, they could put that money saved into the inside where it really counts, that way they would then really sound the part. Now being speakers, that's what matters most, the way they sound. There are speakers out their that are way cheaper then SVS speakers but they have crossovers that are (for their price) over enginered and they sure sound it. Now 8f those cheaper speakers had the money SVS has for theirs then the cheaper guys could have more expensive drivers and box. That with what they are already sporting on the inside would rivel SVS speakers in every way. If I had the money, I'd love to upgrade the inside parts of my SVS ultra speakers, I have a full SVS ultra surround system, so I do like SVS and the way they sound, but knowing how much better they could sound, should sound. I hope that I'll one day know.

Great review, thank you! Just a tip for the future: your audio has a ton of pops and crackles. It sounds like the edits weren’t aligned with zero points and didn’t have a fade in. I watched / listened to the whole video anyway since the content was exactly what I was looking for, but normally I’d stop listening when the audio production is this bad since it’s actually physically painful to hear those sharp digital crackles through headphones.
