Much more concerning to me is on my '24 Tacoma SR5 4X4, the really crappy fabric-composite that is used for the fake front skid plate and even on the interior of the wheel wells. Interesting you mentioned back a video or two ago about the hood flexing while driving. The service manager at my local Toyota dealer mentioned to me that it has been a concern with some customers who drive highway and have faced strong crosswinds. They are also well aware of some of the inrerior molding issues such as grab handles and trim fitment and flex. I was also told there is a fix coming for the glovebox from Toyota. I don’t know if can blame Toyota for some of this. Did they mold the glove box door and the door panels, etc? More than likely it’s out sourced. If out sourced maybe the company making these things don’t have a very good quality dept. Or the design team screwed up the prints for these things. Prints needs to pulled and these parts needs to be measured and if to the prints then Toyota might want to look into a new design team. So there’s a lot of questions need to be answered

I would definitely find that glove box to be an issue…there’s way too much play in that door in my opinion.. I have heard ‘24 Tacoma owners and shoppers of the new one claim they find a big difference in fit and finish quality and quality of the material inside…I would suspect if all those anomalies in the construction of that interior were to be true, yu would find unhappy customers who may find the interior to be too noisy and get disappointed (especially those who owned previous gen’s) on how their new truck was built..mine’s a ‘21 and it’s solid…I mean everything on it screams durability and mine is one made in Mexico…I don’t know now if the previous chip shortage causing dealers to have near zero inventory at one point caused Toyota to rush production to get these dealer lot’s refilled again, especially coupling that with the redesign, may have put Toyota in a really bad position to put out product at the same quality they strive for..so for now, I’m happy to keep my ‘21…

@@RobMotive I think it’s quality of the material..such as on the doors/arm rest..mines more of a dense material that sits on top of the door where I put my arm and that people out there are saying Toyota went away from that and installed a “flimsier” plastic and that that same “flimsiness” is being found around other areas of the interior..some have commented even the steering wheel doesn’t have the same grade build as the previous gen…I haven’t gone and looked at one…I’d be curious for a test drive…but my rule of thumb car buying is to never get the 1st year of a redesign and wait until all the bugs and gremlins, including quality issues, have been worked out..just my 2 cents.. The Tacoma was never top-of-class when it came to refinement, or interior design, or capability. But a product doesn’t have to be the best at everything. It has to be the best at some things, and good enough at everything else. In 2023, the Tacoma was the best at long-term reliability and good at off-road capability, but the worst at almost everything else. For 2024, the Tacoma has a solid driving experience, even better off-road capability, good fuel economy, and a cabin that feels modern enough. It is not the most luxurious midsize truck. Its engine can’t match the Colorado’s. But it’s good enough that some people don’t really care about those compromises.

I'm more interested in the quality of the drivetrain, turbo charged engine, new coil springs, transmission, leaks, etc. My glove box is lose also, but yet to make any noise. Toyota builds a quality vehicle and I'm willing to pay more for them as in the long run I've had no problems with my Toyotas and they have a high resale value. I've had nothing but quality troubles with my Chevys and Fords. I have purchased a 90 Corolla, three Camrys 93, 2001, 2010, Tacoma's 2000, 2006, 2024, 2021 Highlander. I've studied their Toyota Production System (TPS) and there is none better. My wife just drove our new Tacoma and could not believe how smooth it road and the acceleration it had and she is no car expert.
