I like the new Tacoma, but the trims I want are way too pricey. They're almost as much as a Ranger Raptor, and that's just too much for a mid-size truck. I could afford it, but it doesn't make sense to me. Still, I think Toyota makes great stuff.
@klauskahleАй бұрын
Agree with everything you say, Rob. Hood probably bounces a bit because it’s big and made of aluminum. As for pricing , fairly steep up here in Canada as well but I don’t feel it is outrageous. One complaint is lots of orange peel that is fairly noticeable in my Underground paint. My bad- didn’t really notice it until about a week after ownership. Still love the truck. A couple of minor issues that you have done videos on. Biggest issue for me is my VIN is on the transmission TSB. No problems so far. I do not like the “wait until it breaks” senerio but it is what it is!😅
@RobMotiveАй бұрын
I’m not a fan of the wait and see idea either😬

Agreed except for the hood. Mine bounces terribly on rough roads but I have a fix for that and it’s all good now.

What’s the fix? Please share.
@donays8241Ай бұрын
Mine too, I'm considering removing the scoop if I could.
@paulnirschl6500Ай бұрын
@@calanprc3 after a ton of trial and error the fix is. Go buy 18” of 1/2”, 5/8” and 3/4” heater hose. Cut a 10” long piece out of each one and then slit each of the 6 pieces length wise as straight as possible, one slit only. Then put the 5/8 over the 1/2 and the 3/4 over the 5/8. Do that with all 6 pieces so the slits are all lined up. Next look through your windshield from inside the truck you will see a plastic lip sticking up below the hood. It’s also between the washer nozzles. What you want to do is open up the slit on your stack of hose and put that over that lip next to each washer nozzle so they are kind of under the hood scoop. Close the hood and see if the hose moves easily, if not your done if so put a layer of foam camper seal tape on the one that moves. This supports the hood in front of the windshield thus eliminating the majority of the bounce.

I am really glad that you put that and ahalf in there. I am 5.9. When I test drove the TRD sport premium 24 model, I really liked all of the improvements to it. Are you going to come up with a fix for the hood movement or isn't it that bad? Thank you for your time and knowledge.

Rob I’m considering to buy 2024 Tacoma limited with the best price of 52k. What are your thoughts on that?
@RobMotiveАй бұрын
I wouldn’t pay over $50K for any midsize truck OTD. However, that’s a choice you have to make👍

@@RobMotive There is whole new set of infotainment/premium sorta luxury features that come with softex interior like 14-in screen etc with limited and a few higher Tacoma trims that add cost of about $8k+. Those features just stole my heart away. I’m still debating if it’s worth the money. lol.

The most important considerations for most people when buying cars are price and reliability. You admit Toyotas prices are very high, and you can't deny the recall problems they are having now. So, they are failing right now in the most important considerations.
@RobMotiveАй бұрын
Pricing has come down in the form of money off. There is one recall and it’s for a mislabeled sticker. If that’s failing..I’ll take it.

My 2008 TDR sport still runs and looks good. Toyta replaced the the frame brake lines springs 5 year ago at no cost to me. I would buy a new one if needed.

Honestly, the 4 cylinder wont last as long as the 6 cylinder. If you don’t plan on keeping the truck over 10 years then it don’t matter

We can’t know that…the 2024 Tacoma hasn’t been in service for over 10 years.

@@RobMotive Its a new engine, new model. This means more recalls. Example the 24 Tacoma Transmissions failing. A 6 cylinder will be under less stress then a 4 given the same weight load. So overtime the 4 will not last as long.

@nightowl1337 That’s all just theory until proven one way or the other.

@@RobMotive Its a fact that 6 will have less stress put on it then a 4 carrying the same load. Now how long will the 4cylinder last? Who knows, but I would not want to make a 40K bet on it when I could pick up a 6 cylinder from last year.

As I said before, I have had no issues thus far with my "24 Tacoma. As far as the engine goes, Lexus has been using it in several of their vehicles for some time with no issues. Yes, the pricing is higher. I was satisfied with the deal I ended up with. The dealership gave me $30K for my '21 Highlander and I wrote a check for $15K and took the truck home.

The internet 🛜 s full of “negative Nellies”. What’s worse is that it also lends itself for people to promote their own agendas by tearing down competitors products or people who disagree with their views. If I owned a Nissan, Ford or Chevy dealership or worked in their factories, I would probably bash Toyota also in order to promote my brand. The same is also true in reverse, you would praise your own brands. I take the all comments with a grain of salt. My recommendation to people is to see and read about t all, try to read between the lines with objectivity, and make the best purchasing decision you can with that information.

3rd gen looks so much better than the 2024. They changed the roof line and from the side it looks like a school bus. They ruined the looks of it.
@ScottM436Ай бұрын
I think you're in the minority with that opinion. Everyone has specific complaints about them, but in every video I've seen, they all love the looks. I agree. I think it's the best-looking midsize truck there is. I'm still torn between the Ranger Raptor and the Tacoma, but the Raptor looks very plain from the side. The Tacoma looks excellent from any angle.

I had a 2021 TRD Sport and now have a 2024 TRD Sport and there is very little if anything that I don't like better about the 2024. I don't off road so I can't say if it's better in that category, but red light to red light and overall road manners can't be compared. It's quieter, faster, smoother on the road. It's more comfortable and has a much better ride. I have noticed the now aluminum hood shaking a little on rough roads, but it's minimal and I don't have to strain to lift it. We'll have to wait and see on longevity and whether or not it will hold its value like the Gen 3. Drove my Gen 3 for 3 years and sold it for more than I paid. I doubt that will happen with this one.
