I really really really want a Plethora X10 (or G-System mkII based on Plethora) with 2 rows of 6 switches to have 10 simultaneous effects with 5 external loops for more external effects and/or multiple amps setup such Dry/Wet, or Wet/Dry/Wet setup, 2 expression pedals, CV Outs to control amps, onboard multitrack looper, tuner, drive, filter/eq and wah. I know, it would surely cost the price of two Plethora x5, but it would be perfect since it would replace a switcher (such ES8 or GigRig), a looper, a tuner, and of course all effects I would generally use from HX Effect, H9 Max, Toneprints pedals, Strymon, etc... all in a small format and very easy to use UI. I’ve used and liked the G-System a lot in the past, but I stopped using it because of the new effects from Line 6, Strymon, etc... So yeah, a Plethora x10 or G-System mkII would be perfect!

@StillLivinginthewoods4 жыл бұрын
@Robert CowieI do not share that opinion,... TC pedals still sound good, but they are just as unreliable as any other Behringer junk nowadays. My experience with Behringer products over the past twenty years or so is that their products have a 50% chance of failing within the first few months, but if they make it past that time-frame they will last a good while. I had one of their pedal tuners that lasted forever (a friend still has it) and I have a Bugera 1959 that is INSANE, other than that my experience with them has been nothing but negative, so I try to avoid their products. If you enjoy them, great,... but I am not a fan.

Given that TCs last multieffects offering (The Nova System), had really nice analog overdrive and distortion, this is a bit of a let down...Nova Mark two would be nice.
@swmorgan5153 жыл бұрын
I can see the logic behind this.... drives are so specific to personal taste and the amp you're using them with, it's very likely that most users would be incorporating their own anyway. Building a TS and a basic distortion into the pedal would be likely to be insufficient for a large portion of users anyway (like myself). So I'd rather have a device that focuses only on the stuff I'd put in my amp's loop and does it really well.

And the “Wah Pedal” could even be build and release as a standalone product, based on pedal with integrate screen (such Snobel and Ernie ball Volumer tuner pedals); with midi in to be controlled by the Plethora x5 and therefore change effects per board, and with the screen we would always know what the expression pedal will do... wah for one board, changing parameters of a delay wet/dry on another board, etc... so many possibilities
@raceface_m25794 жыл бұрын
The price of this is like buying each pedal for $100. Which is what common pedals go for these days- unless you buy used. Also, there won’t be much need or clutter of more patch cables and other things to bring to gigs etc. Of course you’d still have to bring other pedals like ODs, but this really minimizes having to lug around various things. It’s cool that you can also have a ton of presets on which pedals to have so you can toggle between them in between sets. Really cool. Win win.

If you were planning to build a pedalboard by buying a Flashback 2, a HOF 2, maybe a compressor and a tuner, you’re not too far away from the price of a Plethora after all. But then, you can have way more flexibilities, change order easily and change toneprints for each song, etc... I definitely love that!
@startrekmike4 жыл бұрын
The only thing that would stop me from getting the Plethora right now is that I am the kind of guitarist who likes to have a lot of control over individual pedals at any given time. For example, I know the Plethora has a Flashback II pretty much built in but after using my Flashback X4, I can't imagine not having all the controls that it offers right at my feet. If I want to change something, I need only hit the right switch or quickly lean down and turn a knob somewhere. With the Plethora, a lot of the stuff that would take half a second turning a knob would take a lot longer since you would have to go through some menus. This seems like the kind of thing you get to fill the gaps in your existing effects ecosystem. I would get this pedal but I would really only use it for the kinds of effects that I am not so keen to buy individually since I would not use them as much as the effects I have already. For that kind of thing, the slightly less convenient controls would not be a issue.
@Spidouz4 жыл бұрын
Michael Holmes From what I’ve seen, you don’t have to go through any menu, you just touch the switch and adjust the parameters across all knobs (which are more than what you generally have on a single pedal), and you have by default one knob per pedal already accessible with any other action. So it’s not really different from the individual pedals. And if it’s not what you want, I believe you can adjust the layout for the performance. I would need to check the manual to confirm it (when I could download it), but if we can’t it’s just a matter of software update anyway. Other brand such Line6 does it if I recall correctly, so overall, I really don’t see it as an issue. Just check more videos about the Plethora x5, you’ll see, you don’t have to dig into any menu at all once you have set what pedal (toneprints) you want to use for your board. The menu are only to pick the kind of effect (pedal) and algorithms (toneprints) you want to use, but after that, you can have all parameters on knobs across the whole device.

@@joem527Of course, I would expect that. Strymon manufacturers their pedals in the US. (from Chinese components, but that's unavoidable unfortunately)
@startrekmike4 жыл бұрын
@debaser Strymon makes some exceptional pedals. Every pedal I have tried by them has been pretty great overall. That being said, I do feel that they cater to a specific market and with that comes some degree of difficulty. Part of that difficulty is that when you get into the $300 to $500 effect pedal price bracket, you are going up against a lot of versatile pedals that are often going to give you a lot more options for your money even if those individual options are ever so slightly short of Strymon's effects quality per pedal. Case in point. The Timeline is a fantastic general purpose delay pedal but at $450, it is hard not to look at something like the Flashback 2 X4 (which is about $100 cheaper) and question if the Timeline is worth the extra money on a technical level. Now, don't get me wrong. I totally get that Strymon's stuff means quality. Likewise, I can relate to the mindset of having really good gear that you can depend on and enjoy working with. Sometimes that costs extra money and sometimes that means going outside what some might be comfortable spending. That said, Strymon does occupy a price point where brands like TC, Keeley, and even Boss are kinda killing it with a lot of feature-rich, versatile pedals. It is hard not to wonder if Strymon could do well to drop their prices a bit if only to reduce the impression that it is trying to be something of a "lifestyle brand" that sticks to a certain price-point in order to maintain a certain "brand identity" and desired user-base. Keep in mind that I don't say this as someone who can't afford a Strymon. I most certainly can. Heck, I was about to pull the trigger on a Timeline myself but found that the Flashback X4 gave me a bit more for my buck and didn't seem like it was holding back features in order to make more $300+ delay pedal models. In a time where there are a lot of different pedals to own and only so much board space to put them in, TC, Keeley, and Boss seem to be willing to adapt and compete in a way that Strymon doesn't seem to want to. That is fine but it is also gives the impression that Strymon may not be the best "bang for the buck" in comparison.
@florianju56384 жыл бұрын
@@startrekmike I totally agree with you. It is not that Boss and TC wouldn't know what they are doing. Their products are very good and reliable. Especially for live use, it often times makes little sense to go with pricy Strymon products. I gig with a Strymon Sunset, because I could get one used for a good price, but I know that the 100 Euro cheaper BOSS OD200... Well, rips it apart in terms of functionality and options. My Band mate ownes one. Not worth the extra money, honestly.
@joem5274 жыл бұрын
debaser understandable but i really think that this product is great as is especially since its based off a technology they have used on many other pedals but i feel like jacking up the price for the same thing with just a couple more knobs is pretty ridiculous and honestly the effects sounds pretty amazing on this and when it comes to delays and reverbs most regular people don’t care what it sounds like unless they are endless tone searching guitarist like us... P.S. love the car analogy.

Why would you get this instead of the HX Stomp?
@alex_the.mallett4 жыл бұрын
lewisbeeman I think the biggest selling point is the TonePrint
@Malediction994 жыл бұрын
The easy switching between boards and the fact that it has 5 footswitches are both cool, but yeah, the HX Stomp does more. So it depends how simple you want it to be to switch effects on and off, or set up specific sounds which you can run through during a gig.
@InspiretoVictory4 жыл бұрын
I like TC more than Line 6. I like the way this is laid out and formatted more. I like TC's library of Tone prints. But I could see why people would prefer the HX stuff over this. But I feel like that is more for people who want all the dirt pedal sims, cab and amp sims along with the library of effects.
@startrekmike4 жыл бұрын
There are a few reasons that come to mind but they all kinda revolve around paying for what I want and not paying for stuff I don't want. A lot of multi-effects units package in amp simulation which is simply something I have no need for. Moreover, the HX Stomp is pretty small and while that isn't inherently a bad thing, it is nice that TC offers a solution that lets you just line up five individual effects (that are all made by a company that is known for CONSISTENTLY good effects sounds) and use them as if they are largely individual pedals.
@florianju56384 жыл бұрын
Because the HX Stomp is not as versatile with just 3 switches and no Mash feature. However, I can see this competing with the HX FX! There it comes down to specific effects one might like better and the general possibility to load IRs with the HX.

Hi, I have a Mesa DualRecto, would i be able to program amp channel switching with this pedal ? via MIDI maybe ? If so this is a really interesting piece of gear. Thanks for this great vid

I was bracing for a price sticker shock and am pleasantly surprised with the price.

The display order backward from everything else on the pedalboard is an absolute dealbreaker.

Honestly - what were they thinking?

did not know this until you mentioned it...and then I heard them point it out. that's very strange. i wonder if this can be reconfig'd on the software end...

Building your own pedalboard with a loop switcher seems to be set up right to left but it you use a modeller it is typically left to right. Left to right makes more sense to me with an expression pedal on the right, especially for a right handed player. A right handed player would normally need the input jack on the right hand side so the guitar cable is less likely to get in the way. If you use a wireless system, that need is basically null and void

Richard Williams agree, but still kind of confused in my opinion.

I read you will be able to invert the order in a future update.

Sold! I’ve got to have one. Looks like it’s going to be $500. Was hoping for less but I’m still getting it.

Does this support both guitar and bass tone prints?

It would be interesting to see how the individual effects compare to their equivalents on the plethora. Can they be identical? Do they use the same chips or are they emulations? I imagine emulations as the are supposed to be able to add effects after release

They're only doing the digital pedals - so it's one big computer instead of six little ones. Why would you change any software - it all has to be compatible with the existing toneprints.

First things first: That is the most beautiful guitar ever! secondly; will this pedal work with bass?
@Groovetwig4 жыл бұрын
It will work with bass just as well as any other TC effects work with bass. There should be some good uses for bass, especially because bassists don’t get many good multi effect units

Bought one, but then realized it doesn't have the option to route effects parallel. it is useless in my wet/dry/wet rig. Hoping they will fix this in the next update. If there ever is one. I can't seem to get TC to confirm if/when an update will happen. If I set delay/reverb/chorus on kill dry, the latter two won't be heard unless delay in turned on. Then, I won't hear either until the delayed signal comes in. Pretty unusable. PLEASE fix!
