the shortstop maybe dumped on many people since it only has 4 shots and reduce bullet spread but i love it for it has a bit more range and a bit faster firing rate plus before it was nerfed there was a bonus effect where scout gains an additional +25HP meaning scout can somewhat tank more damage with 150HP equal to the medic. also happy birthday to your kid.

fun fact about the shortstop: did you know that when the shortstop was released he was enable to stop the enemy for a short time like is name shortstop but there was a bug where the short stop wasn't working and so this feture was remove for ever

Scout main here. I very rarely equip the Shortstop anymore. It used to be pretty fun before it was nerfed into the nothingburger it is now. Basically the only use I have for this thing anymore is when I'm playing asshole annoying scout who just runs away and pings people from outside their effective range, since the tighter spread and stronger individual pellets let you chip people more effectively than the other scatterguns. Even across an entire map you'll never do less than 18 damage with it so long as your aim is on point, and that could be all the difference in a fight that's already happening. Also you do 48 damage to engineer buildings at any range, which doesn't sound impressive until you realize that means one clip does 192 damage, demolishing level 1 and 2 buildings and nearly destroying level 3 buildings almost immediately. It only takes the smallest amount of bonus chip damage from that point to destroy any building an engineer isn't actively repairing. The removal of the heal bonus isn't the biggest nerf this thing received... it was having its reload speed cut in half. It went from a spammable midrange annoyance that made scout great at harrying people to a situational pinging tool. There is exactly one use case for the shove, and it's that it lets Scout reposition enemy ubers. The Force a Nature, unlike literally every other similar knockback source in the game, for some reason cannot knock back ubered players, which means that the dinky little shove from scout's spaghetti arms is all you get for that option. And... if your team doesn't have a pyro or demo in position to do the job like normal, it can save a game in the very very specific circumstance where the pocketed player is focused on something other than you, is a heavy and therefore can't reposition themselves as soon as you move them, and you have a cliff or ledge to push them off of that they can't easily climb back up. Gosh this thing is so... whelming. I am whelmed.

I use this, the mad milk, and sun on a stick as a Anti-pyro scout. Performance pending. If I were to buff it, I'd take the -60% fewer pellets to maybe -20%. That way it's still a thing but not as bad.

Have fun being airblasted around like a rag doll. The four pellets thing is a thematic choice to make it more resemble the Derringer it's based on. It would make more sense to increase the damage bonus per pellet some, I think.
