Our hs clay team has the garmin, I think it's fun, but between buying tech or buying ammo, ammo wins for me.
@TargetFocusedLife2 ай бұрын
I have never actually used the Garmin Xero. When Garmin told me they where not interested in a review because they weren't selling many and that they weren't going to put any new efforts behind it, it seemed like a dead product, or at-least a product they didn't even care about. Without hands on experience with the Xero, the Shot Tracker seems to have A LOT more to offer. It's hard to say what it the best approach, but for those that are very serious about improving, a combination of coaching, tech, and live fire ammo along with dry practice seems like a winning combo.

I’m usually not a fan of fancy technology like this but this is actually very cool and will save a lot of money in shells and a lot of time in guesswork. I like that it tells the speed of the clay because it will help you with leading different birds and different angles

I have one. It’s a very useful tool with one big caveat: It weighs 6.5 ounces and mounting one on your barrel will make you swing your gun differently. So the data that you get while using it is mitigated by the fact that once you take the Shot Tracker back off, you may or may not be able to see improvements in the changes you’ve implemented because the gun will feel lighter. However, when you’ve gone down the rabbit hole of “why do I keep missing that shot”? - The Shot Tracker can definitely help you discover why.

How do you use the Shotkam to better your shooting? Can you actually see where you are missing? It just seems like it’s hard to see on the videos I’ve viewed on KZbin. I’ve been on the fence with getting one.

I bought a ShotCam a few months back. From my perspective, the ShotCam is more of a shot recorder and is somewhat limited as a teaching tool. In retrospect, I wish I had known about this technology. The amount of information it provides with each shot is incredible. Seems to be a rather valuable teaching tool and just what you need for your practice sessions.

So I have been watching a ton of your videos lately and love how informative they are! I wanna get my first inertia shotgun with a budget up to $1300. My main use would be for grouse and turkey hunting and would like to get a 20ga. Do you think the best pick would be a M2 field? Thanks again for all the great content! Keep up the good work!

So I've had one for a while. It has HUGE potential. For me, it's just not there yet. There has been a software upgrade - so I've yet to get that out and try it. It really struggled with dark backgrounds/low light/tree grassy hill background situations (shot detected no clay found - not 75 yard clays!) - just does not see the target - often! The software is bit iffy, battery life bad and the setup is a bit fiddly - it's just hard work if it does not see the clays. The camera is far below the from quality of the Shotkam, Shotkam's set up is super easy, the internal battery (although not user changeable) is at least long lasting and compact. Shot tracker is quite bulky and noticeable on the barrel (there's a lot of smart stuff in there I guess). The additional weight over a Shotkam is noticeable (to me). In the product's defense - when it works (not reliably enough for me) it is FANTASTIC. The one time it really worked - it was game-changing. I actually hit a target 100% of humans failed to explain to me. I really want this to be a great product - I really want to see the next hardware version.

@jasonbergmann8662 ай бұрын
You pretty much knew already exactly where you hit and what it would say. Experience wins but may cut learning curve shorter for newer shooters. Key is in the setup. It’s great to know where you’re missing but if setup and technique are wrong, where you missed doesn’t really matter.
@TargetFocusedLife2 ай бұрын
The biggest thing that I learned personally while using this for the video is that I really need to work on my approach and mount. Knowing where you are missing or hitting is great, but analyzing your mount and move is big too.

Spend the money on lessons from a qualified coach instead. Hint: "NRA Certified Instructor" does not mean the coach is qualified. This product will tell you where you missed, not why you missed. The why you missed, is way more valuable.

Garmin has been doing this for years but you don't need to attach it to your gun
@TargetFocusedLife2 ай бұрын
It is nice the Garmin sits on the ground, but that also means it tells you nothing about your approach to the target which was one of the biggest things that was revealed to me while using the ShotTracker. There isn't much out there on the Garmin Xero for trapshooting, but based on what I have seen. It looks extremely limited in function. You have to move and re-align every-time you move. Do you have any experience with the Garmin?
@ndpike132 ай бұрын
@TargetFocusedLife yes I use it for my HS team. Not only does it track your shot, it does reaction time, shot fps, keeps score, it does a lot. Yes you do move it with the shooter or you can leave it at any station. Very useful for my team. Doesn't add weight to the front of the gun either
@TMS51002 ай бұрын
@@TargetFocusedLife the garmin is great, it identified several problems that we corrected using the data from the garmin. it provides an amazing amount of data and analysis on your game. i was expecting it to be overhyped BS or not effective, but was pleasantly suprised to find out how accurate it is!
