Thanks for sharing the stars on the project page. It’s one of the nicest unions I made.

Not sure if you heard. But minwax have changed their colors. Tru blue and crimson are no longer available. Also you can get solid or semitransparent. Most are saying the solid goes on more like paint, and the semitransparent shows the burned grain better.

That's awesome. That is why I made them in the first place. With the new CNC I hope to do the same with the VCarve Desktop and UGS. New chapter coming. lol Thank you very much.

I love the project and will be interesting in making this myself, but what I noticed that I could really use at the moment are those clamps that you made up for panel glue ups. Any chance you might be able to show those off and a quick how to video. Thanks for all you do. This Army Vet appreciates it.

The union I’m pretty sure . Should be 14 13/16” x 10.5”.
@PawPawsWorkShop
@PawPawsWorkShop 4 жыл бұрын
That very well may be, however, I have chosen to alter the ratios slightly to make my flags with a little easier measurements.
@bhutch216
@bhutch216 3 жыл бұрын
You are correct. At least should have kept it closer than 13” (14.5” or 15” ) It looks disproportionate. There are flag ratios for a reason.

Have always enjoyed your work. And super generous of your to share your Xcarve file. Had a question about that - what is the smallest you attempted to make your union field and carve in stars? Thanks for all that you do.

What depth do you set your stars at in easel? And where can I find that star file on inventables?

I do not have a specific brand. I look for the big bottles at Hobby Lobby, Michael's, or WalMart. The cheap stuff works great for the flags.

Hey, what size bit are you using to carve your stars? I am having some difficulty getting mine carved. I am attempting with a 90 degree V-bit 3/8 diameter. The router plunges the initial cut, but then raises and jogs over the work material. Thanks!

The problem I am having with 1x12 is the cupping, what say you? Thanks.
@PawPawsWorkShop
@PawPawsWorkShop 4 жыл бұрын
It is drying uneven. That can be a problem and is why I usually use a 2x4 for the flags and rip them down. This 1x12 was purchased and cut the same day and I did not have the cupping problem.

Do you like the staples better than the brad nails?
@PawPawsWorkShop

I like both depending on what project that I am working on. The staples have a better holding power.

I noticed on this file when i open it that the depth is set to .2 Is that the correct depth? I've seen in the past you said no more than .12?
@PawPawsWorkShop
@PawPawsWorkShop 2 жыл бұрын
On the vast majority of the projects that I carve they are shallow. For the stars I want a sharp point at the bottom. The .2 does that. If you want a flat bottom then set the depth at .1.

It's tragic and very upsetting what happened. However, there are many fine officers in the country who put their life on the line each and every day for all of us. My son is one of them. This flag will be going to one of these officers.

@@PawPawsWorkShop Any alteration of the flag is a desicration of it. Sure, there are fine police officers, but they don't get to alter the flag to suit them.
