Appreciate you getting the info from Tekno on why they chose 13mm shocks with 16mm springs. Very interesting. Those new 5 hole pistons might become a popular tuning option for EB410/ET410 owners.

The 13/16mm thing caught me off guard right when I saw the box. It seemed like such a big difference in my head until I built them. It actually isn't that terrible for the SCT.

I love the look of this truck. It blows every other SCT of this size out of the water. Obviously. I'd go for a sensored castle MMX ESC and Holmes Hobbies (sensored) 550 with it's oversized rotor inside. With a heatsink and fan combo on it, this thing could be run all day everyday. I love the look of this kit! I just can't have it all though. Excellent video on this. It really shows just how fantastic this one is.

Some of the new features i like and others im not so keen on. Like the aluminium servo horn, like the front shock tower brace and new bumper design. Also like they added steel inserts into the plastic a,b,c,d blocks. 👍 Not keen on the fixed motor mount, and the gears being covered. Not sure about only having a single strap either. The old one had 3 straps and although it was a pain to get off, it ment if one snaps youve got backup.
@TheRCNetwork
@TheRCNetwork 10 ай бұрын
100% agree except the strap...the new wider 2.0 strap is fine...even on my EB48 2.0 (with a massive 4s). The motor mount is the big bummer and I looked up TKR9511 and it's the same mount....just meant for 1/8th scale motors and to fit 12-16t pinions. Not sure we will get a proper sliding mount

8:27 can you please explain why you shim the diff. Is it to stop lateral movement? Or is it to set the mesh between the crown gear and the diff pinion? The reason that I ask is because you installed the shim on the non drive side of the diff which seems like you are pushing the gears away from each other, which is something I wouldn’t have expected to be a desired outcome.
@TheRCNetwork
@TheRCNetwork 10 ай бұрын
Good question - according to their manual "(the diff shims)may not be required. Check fitment and add if needed." They show them to only go on the non drive side of the diff...I don't have specific reasoning as to why. All I know is that Tekno kits usually don't take any shims. You should only use shims if you feel it needs it. I only add them in if I can easily put them in.....and in this case one fit in easily. I agree with you, it doesn't make sense to add them to the non-drive side....but maybe they engineered it that way>?

@TheRCNetwork
@TheRCNetwork 8 ай бұрын
The new MT410 2.0 is a bit smaller...a true 1/10th scale MT. The old one was a true 1/8th scale (even though Tekno mistakenly called it a 1/10th. The new 2.0 has 12mm hexes, shorter wheelbase and uses Buggy/SCT arms vs. the Truggy arms on the MT410. Plus, I'm not a fan of that motor mount - the pinion options are minimal and changing a pinion/pulling the motor is a pain.

@TheRCNetwork
@TheRCNetwork 9 ай бұрын
Most electric race kits include a plastic spur gear. As long as you set your mesh correctly, you should never have an issue. The positive side of the Tekno motor mount on this truck is that the mesh is fixed - and done well, so no guessing if you have a good mesh. Manufacturers usually use a plastic spur gear to create a "fail-safe" on the truck. In other words, it's better to strip a $5 plastic spur gear than twisting a $45 set of driveshafts or bricking a $179 motor. In all honesty, I have stripped 2 spur gears in my existence on The RCNetwork - one was the Losi mini 8ight, which had a terrible center diff mount and the other was my Axial Bomber when I was racing U4RC, as I way over powered / over weighted that truck. That's about 350 RC's I've owned/ran and only 2 have had an issue. Probably 90% had plastic spurs.

Tekno is the graduation from the more "cookie cutter" type vehicles like the Traxxas Slash or the Arrma Denton. What I found out about Tekno (and most race vehicles) is that you'll get a higher quality kit, more adjustability using higher grade materials and is race inspired, so it drives great. Plus, they're designed to last during racing, so typically much more durable that RTR RC's.

The SERVO SAVER was a nightmare. The diffs! OMG! Mine bled out! CRANK all the way down to the point of stripping. **Check ESC wires and direction. My On / Off is too close to the center drive. LAST ONE! The TOP Plate brace! Get ready to scream. It's going to stress you out. It requires the screws to be installed in a select order. Make sure your Front Diff is perfect. Wait a few days just to check if it bleeds. You do NOT want to go back and rebuild the Front End. Serious time loss.
@TheRCNetwork
@TheRCNetwork 6 ай бұрын
Building experience will fix all of these issues you stated. The servo saver has been the same on nearly every Tekno 1/8th scale model since the beginning. A simple use of a wheel wrench will make it easy. The diffs have evolved over time and these diffs are the smoothest, leak free ones ever from Tekno. There are building secrets on building diffs. It's about consistency and using the right amount of black grease in the right parts. The top plate brace was new, but I showed exactly how to do it in the video. The front diff is easily accessible by just removing 6 screws. Once you build one Tekno, you can build them all. Have fun RC'ing, Spin
@SpinRush
@SpinRush 6 ай бұрын
@@TheRCNetwork I respectfully disagree when it comes to the servo saver. I know because I just got it done about a week ago. You need to be a GORILLA to get that Spring pressed down. Even after placing the spring in a vice-grip for a couple hours, it did not soften up. Which is a good thing, I might add. However, I'm going to be pure honest about that piece. It's going to make you curse. You will use profanity when building the servo saver. It's not a breeze. Even with the 17mm wrench in hand, it's not EZ PZ. Now by no means does that mean "don't buy the kit". It's an awesome kit. Once you get through that small bit of hell, it's a breeze. It's not building experience that will get you past that, it's pure torque and muscle.
