Spot on review. Im new to a EV. I have a brand new 1500 GMC Diesel 4x4 pickup. I always had a second car. I sold my VW Atlas Cross Sport and was looking for another SUV type vehicle in a EV. I drove the VW ID4, Cadillac Lyriq and the Model X and Y. Im 6-3 and was comfortable in all of them. Model X was my favorite but couldnt justify the price for a second car. In Dec of 24 they came out with a super lease deal for the Y RWD LR, so i grabbed one. After all the credits and referall discount it was 38k. 2 weeks into ownership as of this writing and im more than impressed with the vehicle and the free FSD and free supercharging trials. The price of the X LR needs to be much lower for me to consider it in the future

When we were replacing an SUV with a Tesla, we weren’t shopping where the cost was a consideration. Comparing the Y and X isn’t necessarily apples to apples, imo. We chose the X Plaid for its roominess, ride and power. It’s incredible.

What do you think of a 2022 Model X Plaid for $55k vs a 2020 Model Y Long Range for $20k after tax credit? I love the Model X, but the cost is a lot. Plus I would love to go camping in whichever one I get and the seats of the Plaid dont really allow you to sleep in it. But then theres that 1020HP!

I rented a MXP on a recent trip from Vegas to Grand Canyon, only difference is in real life performance wise, is on the track. Now ventilated seats (esp White ones) are great. The auto present doors & closing doors are great along with the larger rear space, even in the Plaid model where you can't fold the second-row seats. It's not worth it, esp. with the current non-refreshed model. Oh, and that big windshield is a joke along with the visors which don't do shit to cover up the sun. Oh & that rear spoiler blocks your view as well.

Why not put Plaid in the headers? You only live once, my situation changed this year, and will be getting an X! I think if you drive and X/S you have FSD for use once in awhile, but you are driving the car a lot of the time.... CT is way too long for most people. The cooled seats, back display, and air suspension are enough for me to go with the X. Maybe wait for Juniper, will see how the rest of the year goes...

Y has now 7-seat option. It seems another major reason to for Y if you're looking for a 7-seat model.

Considering either an X or Y for a road trip car due to have two big doggos (85lbs and 100lbs respectively). Which do you think would be better for longer trips where we have to have the dogs and some luggage of our own? Model X price seems a little high for what you get out of it. It's almost driving me to just purchase a Rivian R1S instead.

the model x is missing some creature comforts for the price is true. but steer by wire? no. definitely not one of them. leave that system alone. im not against tech at all but some things should always be mechanical and steering is definitely one of them. hard pass on that steer by wire nonsense

And third. Good summary and completely agree. Just sold my MX for a 2024 MY. The X tech eco system kind feels like the forgotten step child. If you have small children the X may be worth the price premium. The MY acceleration is still really good and enough

Those buzzard wing doors are overindulgent. Buy a used Model X or Model Y as used EV prices are dropping like a stone. Also the receding hairline windshield in the X looks like you can't cover it up in any way.

The X works great when dealing with elderly family members and children. I have driven both. Around town the Y is great as it’s smaller. But in the highway the ride of the X can’t be beat. Also the amount you can carry means the X is the vehicle. Again, it depends on your needs.

IMO MUSK IS OUT OF TOUCH WITH THE PUBLIC we have Purchased 2 long range model Y's No stems flies in the face of how people have use cars for years and years. Too over the top loses customers. the cyber truck IMO, NEVER ever should have been bullet proof to start with, just follow what other EV trucks are designed. Look at the problems the Cyber Truck is having. We cancelled our order over 8 months ago...
